Chapter 392: Tailgating

Aurora brought out the fruit and happened to hear Leo's confident statement, feeling impressed.

Aurora patted Leo on the shoulder, "The future looks bright, I believe in you."

"Thanks, Aurora," Leo responded, "Aurora, don't just support me with words, show some action."

"Ashley, have some fruit. There are still some veggies in the kitchen that need washing, I'll go wash them," Aurora handed the fruit to Ashley and slipped back into the kitchen.

Help him out? No way.

Watching the drama unfold? Absolutely.

Leo took a banana from the fruit plate and sighed, "I can't rely on anyone, I have to rely on myself."

Ashley glared at him, "Of course you have to pursue your own girlfriend. If you can't win her over, I'll adopt Sophia as my daughter."

"Ashley, can you show me how to arrange these flowers? I'm not very good at it," Sophia walked over.

"Sure, I'll teach you. Let's go inside," Ashley replied, growing even more fond of Sophia.

Aurora planned to have an outdoor barbecue in the backyard this evening. She even set up lights, balloons, and flowers to make it festive.

The long table was filled with food and fruit, and the grill was ready, just waiting for everyone to arrive.

Summer and Loren were playing with Trey and Jax on the carpet in the living room.

At this time, Alexander and Dean arrived with a few others, making the house very lively.

Wendy went to help with the food, while Alexander, Dean, and Samuel played poker in the side room.

Kevin finished his work at the company, canceled his evening engagements, and arrived early.

Seeing Kevin, Alexander, who had already lost almost everything, pulled him to play bridge.

Four people, just enough for a table.

Unable to refuse, Kevin said, "Alright, let's play small, just for fun."

Alexander wanted to win back his money, so playing small was out of the question.

"At least start with ten thousand dollars. Everyone here is a big shot, right?"

Dean, with his successful White Group and regular dividends from Aurora, wasn't short on money.

Samuel had his own business abroad for many years and never worried about money.

Kevin, being part of one of the four major families in Silvercrest City, certainly had money to play cards.

But Alexander...

Aurora's voice came from behind, "Alexander, do you have money?"

The Shadow of Darkness organization was no longer Alexander's, and he had given all his money to Sandra, so he was broke.

Alexander felt a bit embarrassed but remained calm, having been through a lot over the years.

"You three go wait in the room, I'll join you after a quick bathroom break."

As soon as the three turned away, Alexander pulled Aurora aside, "Aurora, can you lend me some money?"

Aurora was straightforward, "If you lose, it's on you. If you win, the money's mine."

Why was Aurora always setting him up?

After some internal struggle, Alexander agreed, "Deal!"

Aurora immediately transferred one million dollars to Alexander.

Wendy watched from twelve feet away but said nothing.

Alexander's luck was terrible today. The one million dollars was gone in less than an hour.

Since it wasn't his money, Alexander didn't feel the loss and immediately asked Aurora for more.

Aurora was in a good mood today, so she gave Alexander as much as he wanted.

It was all in the family, playing cards for fun, and the wins and losses stayed within the family.

Dean was very lucky today, winning from all three and making a lot of money.

Aurora's one comment wiped the smile off his face.

"Dean, you've won so much, it should last you a few months. So, no need for company dividends for the next six months, right?"

Dean was stunned.

Aurora was no fool when it came to money.

In the end, Dean bore the brunt of it.

As the evening went on, John, Todd, and Sam also arrived.

As it got dark, they turned on the lights and everyone moved to the backyard for barbecue and drinks.

Aurora held a glass of juice, watching everyone gather, chatting and laughing, feeling happy herself.

"Aurora, have you seen Jack?" Dean walked over and asked.

Aurora then realized Jack was missing.

"Dean, you go eat, I'll go find him."

Aurora did a headcount and noticed not only Jack but also Summer was missing.

In the backyard of the Lewis Villa.

Jack was standing by the pond, talking on the phone, hidden under the grapevine, hard to spot unless someone looked closely.

Summer was crouching behind a large rock, eavesdropping.

The distance and the wind made it hard to hear clearly.

Summer crouched lower and carefully moved closer.
