Chapter 212 You Are the Most Beautiful in My Eyes
Realizing what John was about to do, Sandra freaked out and lunged for the knife. "No!"
She grabbed it with her bare hands, and the blade sliced her palm open. Blood started pouring out, dripping onto the floor.
John's eyes flashed with a quick look of shock.
"John, are you seriously gonna cut off your own arm for Aurora?" Sandra was stunned.
Was he really that worried about Aurora? Would he actually chop off his own arm to find her?
John, looking as cold as ice, growled, "Let go." If she didn't, Sandra's hands would be toast.
Sandra clung to the knife stubbornly, her eyes blazing with defiance. "I won't let you hurt yourself for that bitch Aurora."
Seeing the blood streaming from Sandra's palm, John's eyes darkened. He forcefully aimed the knife at his own arm again, his face blank and without hesitation.
Sandra's hand hurt so much she couldn't stop him. She cried out, "I'll unlock it, I'll unlock it."
The knife stopped just a hair from John's arm. Sandra took the knife away, her hands covered in blood, and screamed at John, "You're crazy, crazy."
John's eyebrows furrowed tightly. "If something happens to her, I will go crazy. Unlock it."
Staring at John for a few seconds, Sandra took a deep breath, and said, "I'll unlock it, but you have to marry me."
"Deal!" John agreed without a second thought.
Sandra paused for a moment. He used to say he'd rather be castrated than comply, but now he agreed so quickly just because Aurora was in trouble.
Even though she got what she wanted, Sandra felt no joy. With trembling hands, she took out the key and unlocked the handcuffs, her face expressionless. "Second room on the left, third floor."
John glanced at Sandra's injured hand and said, "Get that treated."
Despite his words, John didn't actually care much. Sandra had grabbed the knife with her bare hands to stop him, and while he felt a bit touched, he didn't want to owe her anything. But to Sandra, his words felt like sweet candy. She looked at John with a silly smile, and said, "It doesn't hurt."
John said nothing more and rushed to the third floor.
A scarred man walked into the room and saw Sandra's bloody hands. His pupils shrank. "Ms. Johnson, did John hurt you? Did he escape?"
Taking a glance at the unlocked handcuffs, the scarred man immediately shouted, "Catch him..."
"Oren, don't go." Sandra stopped him. "He won't leave. With my dad here, he can't escape. He promised to marry me. Take me to get my wound treated first."
Oren Schneider said coldly, "You believe John's words? Ms. Johnson, John isn't worth it."
"Whether he's worth it or not is my business. What do you know? John cares about me. He sent me to study abroad and visited me every year. How could he not like me? He's just temporarily infatuated with Aurora."
Sandra seemed bewitched, murmuring, "Once we get married, he'll settle down."
"And what about Ms. Jennifer Johnson? When Ms. Jennifer Johnson returns, if she finds out about you and John, she..."
"I don't care about that. Jennifer is going to die. How can she be so selfish and still want to be with John? Oren, you'll help me, right?"
Oren said, his expression sinister, "I'll help you."
Aurora realized something was wrong shortly after drinking the chowder. It wasn't the first time she'd encountered this; she was all too familiar with the feeling.
She had been too careless, and actually trusted Alexander. There were guards at the door; she couldn't leave through the front.
Aurora walked to the window and looked down. It was the third floor; jumping would be a death wish or at least leave her seriously messed up. If she weren't pregnant, she might've taken the leap.
As the effects started kicking in, Aurora got more and more anxious. Just then, she heard footsteps outside. Her heart raced, thinking Alexander was back. She glanced around the room; the only place to hide was the bathroom.
Aurora quickly ducked into the bathroom and locked the door. She hugged herself tightly, gritting her teeth to ride out the effects. They weren't too bad, still manageable.
Aurora curled up into a ball, feeling so uncomfortable she wanted to scream. It was low and dirty to use such tactics.
After dealing with the guards at the door, John burst into the room but didn't see Aurora, making him even more anxious.
"Aurora!" John called out.
Aurora, in the bathroom, thought she was hearing things. She cautiously opened the door a crack and saw it was really John. Her heart leaped with joy. "John, I'm here." Because of the chowder, Aurora's tone had a seductive edge.
John quickly walked over. "You drank the clam chowder?"
"Yeah," Aurora sighed, feeling regretful. "It's my fault for being greedy."
Seeing Aurora unharmed, John scooped her up. "Let's get out of here first."
"John, I feel awful," Aurora said, looking at John with eyes full of seduction.
That look, combined with her flushed cheeks, was incredibly tempting. John's Adam's apple bobbed, his voice hoarse. "Aurora, hang in there a bit longer."
Aurora licked her lips, looking like she wanted to devour John. "You look like you're struggling too. Your face is so red. Did you drink it too?"
"No, clam chowder's got nothing on you. Your appearance is more potent than any chowder."
Aurora didn't get it at first but quickly caught on. A hint of a smile appeared in her eyes. Her initial panic faded with John around.
Aurora obediently nestled in John's arms, letting him carry her. Just as they reached the door, they heard footsteps approaching. Judging by the sound, there were quite a few people.
John and Aurora exchanged a glance and had to retreat back into the room. They couldn't just charge out the front door.
Aurora felt stranger and stranger, biting her lip and clutching John's clothes tightly.
John's brow furrowed, showing his worry. "Aurora, hang in there a bit longer."
The footsteps grew closer, and they heard Alexander's angry voice, "Where are the guards? Where did they go?"
They were about to come in.
Just then, John leaned against an antique shelf and felt something off. He pushed the shelf with his shoulder and discovered it could be moved.
It was a hidden door.
Aurora's heart leaped with joy. John pushed the shelf aside and slipped in just before Alexander entered.
They thought it might be an escape route, but once inside, they didn't dare move.
A roughly 20-foot-long passageway lay ahead, with countless red lights flickering on the walls. John threw his shoe, and the red lights immediately sliced it into pieces.
Seeing the pieces, Aurora was stunned. If a person went in, they'd be shredded to bits.
Aurora couldn't help but exclaim, "Oh my God, what kind of treasure is hidden here for Alexander to set such a deadly trap?"
They couldn't go in, nor could they go back. But they couldn't just stay trapped here.
John hadn't expected this either. His deep eyes narrowed, and he looked down at Aurora in his arms. In a serious tone, he said something incredibly rogue, "Aurora, should I help you relieve it?"
