Chapter 452 Sandra is Pursued by Sam

The scar made Aurora even more certain that the woman in front of her, Karolyn, was actually Sandra.

The scars were in the same place, only one was deeper and the other shallower.

Karolyn, or rather Sandra, felt extremely uncomfortable under Aurora's intense gaze.

Sandra instinctively covered her face, her heart racing with anxiety. Did Aurora figure something out?

"I got this scar from playing around when I was a kid and fell. Aurora, you don't think it's ugly, do you?"

If Aurora actually believed Sandra's story, that would be a miracle.

Aurora comforted her with a smile, "No, not at all. With a little makeup, you can barely see it. Don't feel bad about it. There are plenty of people out there who look worse and have it tougher than you. Try to see the bright side."

That "worse than you" comment was particularly cutting.

Sandra was so angry she nearly exploded.

Sandra gritted her teeth and started to fake dizziness again. "Aurora, I'm feeling a bit lightheaded. I think I need to rest for a bit."

Aurora looked worried. "Your head hurts? Maybe I should get a doctor to check on you."

"No, no need." Sandra quickly waved her hand. "I just need to rest for a bit."

"Alright then, you sleep. I'll come back to see you another time." Aurora didn't have the patience to keep up the charade with Sandra.

Making Sandra uncomfortable was enough for now.

Without concrete evidence, she couldn't risk alerting Sandra.

Aurora watched Sandra close her eyes and pretend to sleep before leaving.

As soon as she stepped out of the room, Sam caught up with her. "Mrs. Lewis, that Karolyn is also allergic to peanuts. There's definitely something off about her."

"Yes, there's definitely something wrong." Aurora pressed the elevator button and stepped inside, glancing at Sam. "But we're still in the suspicion phase. Sam, how about you make a little sacrifice?"

Sam shook his head vigorously, almost in tears. "Mrs. Lewis, please don't set me up like this. You're throwing me into the fire!"

"Sometimes, a little charm is the most effective tactic."

Sam muttered, "Sandra likes Mr. Lewis. It would be more effective if he did it."

"Sam, what did you just say?" Aurora's expression was one of 'say one more word and I'll slap you.' "If John has to handle everything, then what's the point of having you guys?"

Sam's survival instincts kicked in, and he quickly explained, "Mrs. Lewis, it's not that I can't do it. It's just that Sandra isn't interested in me."

"I don't expect her to fall for you. Just make her uncomfortable." Aurora smiled slyly. "You guys at Nightfall are single because you lack real-world experience. Consider this practice. Instead of spying on her secretly, do it openly. Buy her flowers, gifts, and show her a lot of attention. Act like you really like her, got it?"

"Mrs. Lewis, are you serious?" Sam looked like he was about to cry.

"Do I look like I'm joking?" Aurora patted Sam's shoulder and said seriously, "This difficult task is now yours."

With that, Aurora drove off, leaving Sam at the hospital.

When John learned of Aurora's plan, he ordered Sam, "Do as Aurora said. Stick to her like glue 24/7. It should work."

Sam was silent.

They really were a perfect match.

Sam was sure John was doing this on purpose. He had interrupted John's plans, and John was getting back at him.

Suddenly, going on a mission in Africa seemed more appealing than dealing with Sandra.

Sam had no experience in wooing anyone, so he followed Aurora's advice to the letter.

He went to a flower shop and bought a large bouquet of roses, then bought some chocolates, and returned to the hospital room.

Sandra wasn't really asleep. When she saw Sam return with flowers in one hand and chocolates in the other, she was stunned.

"What are you doing?"

Sam, feeling both shy and scared, kept his head down and didn't dare look directly at Sandra. He handed her the gifts and, like reciting lines, stiffly said, "Uh, hi. My name's Sam Abernathy. I'm thirty-five, from Earth. I don't have parents, just a brother. I make a million bucks a year, but I haven't bought a house yet. I live with my boss. If you want a house, I'll put it in your name."

Sam was an orphan and didn't know exactly where he was from, but he grew up in Silvercrest City.

Sandra was dumbfounded by Sam's words and couldn't find anything to say. Finally, she blurted out, "Are you out of your mind?"

Sam looked up and seriously refuted, "There's nothing wrong with my mind. I'm perfectly normal. Here's my medical report. All indicators are normal."

Sam even took out his medical report.

Sandra was speechless.

She was completely thrown off by Sam's actions.

She wanted to be with John, so why was Sam getting involved?

This had to be Aurora's idea.

Thinking of this, Sandra hated Aurora even more.

She was currently posing as Karolyn and couldn't blow her cover, so she had to suppress her anger and feign ignorance. "Mr. Abernathy, I'm sorry, but what do you mean?"

Sam replied earnestly, "Can't you see I'm pursuing you?"

Sandra felt like she was about to explode.

"Mr. Abernathy, I'm pregnant with my ex-husband's child."

"That's okay. Buy one, get one free. It's a good deal. I'll take care of our son, don't worry."

Sandra was speechless.

...

In a gated community in Silvercrest City.

The most secluded villa was heavily guarded, with the doors tightly shut even in broad daylight.

This was one of Jack's hideouts in Silvercrest City. In the second-floor reception room, Jack and Oren sat facing each other.

Jack, wearing a mask, was making tea with his right hand. "Mr. Schneider, coming here alone is quite impressive."

"Stop with the mystery. Take off the mask, Jack." Oren said, holding a teacup. "Let's talk business."

Jack's hand paused slightly. Since he had been recognized, wearing the mask was pointless.

Jack removed the mask and looked at Oren with a cold smile. "What business?"

"I know you want to avenge Richard. Last time, you tried to use me to burn John, but it failed. We have a common enemy. We can join forces again." Oren got straight to the point. "Once John is dead, The Shadow of Darkness and Ironclad Union can establish themselves in the underworld."

Jack sneered. "Mr. Schneider, do you take me for a fool? You're doing this for a woman, aren't you? That pregnant woman, if I'm not mistaken, is..."

Jack didn't finish his sentence, but they were both smart enough to understand.

Oren's expression darkened. "The reason doesn't matter. What matters is that our goals align."

"But I don't trust you, Mr. Schneider. Last time, you used me to pull a fast one. You've been in the game longer than I have. I'm not as experienced. I might end up being sold out by you and still help you count the money."

"You managed to reorganize Wolfpack quickly. Are you really afraid of being outsmarted?"

They were both playing a game of words, testing each other.

Just then, screams came from downstairs.

Something was wrong.

Jack's expression changed, and he immediately went downstairs.

Half of Jack's men were lying on the floor in the hall.

And it was all the work of one person.

Jack was stunned to see Lori standing confidently in the hall. "How did you find this place?"
