Chapter 205 John Confesses to Aurora About What Happened Five Years Ago

John just grinned and kept quiet while they munched on their late-night snack, soaking in the rare calm. It had been ages since they had such a chill meal together.

Aurora was really digging in. She polished off a whole plate of pasta and let out a satisfied burp.

"All done?" John asked, looking at Aurora's happy face, feeling all warm and fuzzy inside.

"Yep, all done," Aurora said, patting her stomach.

John glanced at her belly and said, "Looks like it's getting a bit bigger. Our baby’s growing fast."

Aurora rolled her eyes. "Anyone's stomach would be bloated after a whole plate of pasta. It's not even two months yet; how big could they be?"

John chuckled, "First-time dad here, no clue."

Talking about the baby lightened the mood, and Aurora wasn't as snappy.

"Let's head home," Aurora said. "I still need to explain to Lori and Uncle about suddenly deciding to team up with Nightfall." Tonight's events would definitely reach Richard's ears.

"Alright," John said, standing up. "Waiter, check please."

After paying, John helped Aurora into the car.

Aurora said, "I have hands and feet, I'm not disabled, I don't need help."

"I'm helping my baby."

Aurora snapped, "John, don't push it."

John laughed, "I wouldn't dare."

Once in the car, Aurora quickly dozed off. After a full meal and the gentle rocking of the car, it was easy to get sleepy.

With soothing prenatal music playing, John drove, occasionally glancing at the sleeping Aurora, feeling content.

When they got home, the car stopped, and Aurora slowly woke up. "Thanks, you can go now."

John couldn't help but laugh, "Aurora, you change your attitude too quickly. It's the middle of the night, where do you want me to go?"

'So heartless,' he thought, shaking his head with a smile.

"Go wherever you want, go back to your little lover Jennifer. That wouldn't be bad," Aurora snapped.

"Still mad, huh." John replied.

Aurora walked into the house without looking back.

John swallowed his pride and followed her in. Just like Summer said: "persistence works with women." He understood the importance of boundaries, so he just stayed downstairs, keeping a balance that made it hard for Aurora to stay mad at him.

As soon as Aurora entered the bedroom, Lori and Ava rushed in, each bringing a chair. They made Aurora sit on the bed, looking like they were about to interrogate her.

Lori asked, "Aurora, is John really from Nightfall?"

Ava added, "What's his position in Nightfall?"

"Why did he come to Wolfpack?"

"Is the collaboration real or fake?"

A string of questions left Aurora amused. Instead of answering, she asked, "You two have been pondering for so long and still haven't figured out his identity?"

Aurora's words immediately confirmed Lori's suspicions. She slapped her thigh. "Aurora, is he really the boss of Nightfall?"

Aurora nodded without hesitation; this couldn't be hidden forever.

"Oh my god, this is unbelievable. Wolfpack and Nightfall have been at odds for so many years, and now their leaders are going to get married," Lori exclaimed in surprise. "No wonder he could dodge my assassination attempts before. He's been targeted hundreds or thousands of times; he's honed his reflexes."

Aurora quickly clarified her stance. "Who's getting married to him? Don't talk nonsense."

Lori retorted mercilessly, "You're now carrying his child yet still so stubborn."

Ava frowned and said, "If Mr. Lee finds out about this, he might jump out of his bed." She hit the nail on the head.

Aurora said, "I'll head to the hospital tomorrow and talk to Richard myself. Given Wolfpack's current situation, he should know what to do."

Lori suddenly had a mischievous grin. "I heard Nightfall is absolutely loaded."

Seeing Lori's eyes light up, Aurora immediately knew what she was thinking. "Have some dignity. Don't take money that isn't yours."

Lori felt a bit speechless. "Aurora, where was your dignity when you tricked me out of money?"

Aurora coughed lightly and laughed awkwardly, "We're cousins. Our bond is stronger than dignity. Bringing this up would just mess with our feelings."

Lori didn't know how to respond. When it came to verbal sparring, she couldn't outmatch Aurora.

Ava said, "After tonight, Robert and Christopher will probably take bigger actions. Once they get desperate, they'll do anything."

Aurora sighed, "We'll adapt as needed. It's late now; you should all go rest."

As Aurora gradually consolidate Wolfpack, those two would definitely become anxious. However, once she won people's hearts, her position would be secure.

"Alright, we're not afraid of trouble. If they're not afraid of death, let them come." Lori stood up and suddenly remembered something. "By the way, Aurora, the person who offered a billion dollars for John's life last time was from The Shadow of Darkness organization."

"The Shadow of Darkness organization?" Aurora was very surprised.

"The grudge between The Shadow of Darkness organization and Nightfall runs deep. You should remind John," Lori said reluctantly. She didn't want to say it, but since John was the boss of Nightfall and Aurora's man, she wouldn't hide it.

"Got it."

The night grew deeper.

Aurora had slept in the car just now, so she couldn't fall asleep now. John was downstairs, not making a sound. It was so cold, and Aurora eventually felt pity. She brought a blanket downstairs.

John was sleeping on the couch without anything covering him, with arms crossed over his chest. The window was left open, letting in the cold wind that made Aurora shiver.

John was curled up on the couch, looking very cold.

Aurora walked over and placed the blanket on the couch. "Cover yourself. I'm not forgiving you; it's just because we're partners. If you catch a cold, it will affect our collaboration. I'm thinking of the bigger picture."

However, John didn't move for a long time, making Aurora wonder if he was sleeping that deeply.

The cold wind kept blowing in, and Aurora thought to herself, 'forget it, don't stoop to John's level.'

Aurora closed the window and covered John with the blanket.

In the dim light of the living room, staring at John's face, Aurora was lost in thought, and couldn't help but reach out to touch his face.

As soon as her fingertips touched him, her hand was suddenly grabbed. She was pulled into John's arms and held tightly.

"John, you're playing me again," Aurora said, realizing he was pretending to sleep.

She struggled to get up, but John held her even tighter. "Aurora, it's cold," he murmured.

"If you're cold, cover yourself with the blanket," Aurora said irritably. "Let go of me."

"No." John grabbed Aurora's hand and started tickling her.

"Stop it, I, I'm really mad, haha, it tickles, stop." Aurora couldn't help but laugh. Tickling was her biggest weakness, and soon the two of them ended up laughing and playing on the couch.

As they played, John suddenly stopped. He looked at Aurora beneath him, and memories of a long-buried moment flashed through his mind. It was the scene from years ago when he had taken advantage of a woman after being drugged.
