Chapter 120 Summer is Aurora's illegitimate child
Jane hurried along, her pace less like that of a woman heavy with child and more like a teenager rushing to a secret rendezvous.
Aurora followed her downstairs but lost sight of her when Jane turned a corner.
The hospital garden was big, with lots of bushes and trees, and it was getting dark, making it hard to find someone quickly.
Aurora looked around but didn't see anyone, so she went back to the ward to wait.
She sat on the sofa, flipping through a magazine. After almost an hour, Jane finally returned.
Jane was adjusting her clothes as she entered, surprised to see Aurora.
"Ms. White, what are you doing here?"
Jane's eyes darted around nervously.
Aurora closed the magazine, checked her watch, and smiled at Jane. "Ms. Torres, I've been waiting for you for an hour. You should rest more since you're pregnant."
Jane's face changed, and she avoided Aurora's gaze. "I just went to the restroom. I wasn't feeling well, so it took a while."
Aurora stared at her, resting her chin on her hand with a smile. "Oh? Should I call a doctor to check on you?"
"No need," Jane quickly refused. "I'm fine now."
Aurora smiled knowingly. "Since you're fine, let's talk about your little 'accident' earlier. The one where you accused me of pushing you."
Jane's attitude shifted completely. "No, I was just scared and thought you pushed me. I was wrong, and I've already explained it to Mom. Ms. White, please, let's just put this behind us. I hope we can coexist peacefully."
"It seems you've thought it through. But I'm not as forgiving as you." Aurora stood up, walked over to Jane, and warned coldly.
"John's health is poor. If you do anything to harm him, I won't let you off easily. Behave during John's remaining days, and I might even give you some compensation."
Aurora said this to make Jane believe John was really not doing well.
Jane blurted out, "Is John really that sick? Even Dr. Collins can't help?"
"Several doctors have seen him. John's illness is very serious. If Dr. Collins has no treatment plan, John has at most a month."
Aurora stopped, as if realizing she'd said too much, and quickly changed the subject. "Alright, you should rest. Since you're fine, I'll leave now."
Hearing John only had a month left, Jane was secretly delighted and grabbed Aurora. "Has John made any arrangements, like a will?"
She couldn't wait for John to die.
Aurora sneered, "Why don't you ask him yourself?"
Jane laughed awkwardly. "John doesn't want to see me. I can't even get a glimpse of him. Ms. White, don't mock me. The Lewis Family is under your control. My child and I can't be left with nothing. I don't mind, but my child is a Lewis. I hope you can be generous."
That was straightforward.
Aurora smiled and said nothing.
The next day, visitors to the Lewis Mansion to see John were endless.
They were all trying to find out if John really only had a month left.
Jane spread the news quickly.
All the visitors were taken to a side hall by the servant, but no one saw John.
This made everyone even more convinced that John was in bad shape.
After John "fell seriously ill," Aurora took over the Lewis Group's affairs. Elena would bring documents to the mansion daily, and Aurora would handle them in the room.
But most of the time, John managed things himself, with Aurora learning by his side.
They stayed in the room all day, rarely going out.
Jane stayed in the hospital for a day, then shamelessly returned to the Lewis Mansion.
No one in the family paid her any attention; everyone went about their business, and Jane became irrelevant.
She couldn't even get to the third floor, as John had it guarded. Even if she wanted to bring food up, she had to hand it to the servants.
She couldn't see John, Helen, or Mr. Lewis.
Frustrated, Jane ordered a servant, "Get me a glass of water and some fruit."
The servants, busy with their tasks, ignored her.
Jane got angrier, walked up to a servant, and snapped, "Didn't you hear me? I'm carrying the Lewis family's first great-grandchild, the future heir. If you neglect me, I'll have you all fired."
"Yes, Ms. Torres, I'll get it right away," the servant replied expressionlessly.
Jane sat on the sofa, legs crossed, waiting arrogantly.
After a while, the servant brought a cup and a kettle, placed them on the table, and walked away.
Jane glared at the cup and kettle, fuming. "Pour it for me! What kind of attitude is this? Do you believe I'll have you fired?"
The servant poured the water.
Jane was still fuming when Summer walked in.
Summer walked right past Jane and headed to the third floor without any trouble.
Jane, annoyed that she couldn't get to the third floor while a child could, felt unbalanced.
"Stop."
Jane shouted and walked over.
Summer stopped and looked at Jane. "What is it?"
"Didn't you see me sitting there? Where are your manners? Don't you know how to greet people?"
Jane was displeased that even a child didn't respect her.
"I didn't see you," Summer replied, sounding a bit like Aurora.
"You little brat, you don't respect me either." Jane was furious and reached out to twist Summer's ear.
She wanted to teach Summer a lesson and establish her authority.
Summer easily dodged, his dark eyes growing colder, showing anger. "Move."
Despite being just a few years old, Summer's aura was intimidating. Jane was stunned, as it reminded her of John, making her feel like she was seeing him.
It was eerie.
By the time Jane came to her senses, Summer had already gone upstairs.
Realizing she had been intimidated by a child, Jane was furious and asked, "What's the relationship between that child and Ms. White?"
Jane had seen Summer come in with Aurora and assumed they were related.
"I don't know," the servant replied and went back to work.
Jane was left alone again, ignored by everyone.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Suddenly, she remembered something Wade had told her.
Not long ago, there was a big scandal about Aurora having an illegitimate child. Could Summer be Aurora's illegitimate child?
The resemblance, while subtle, was undeniable.
And Jane, fueled by greed and resentment, was determined to exploit that weakness to her advantage.
