Chapter 172 Having a Baby Sister

Aurora never thought Lori would be the one who tried to take out John last night.

Seeing Aurora's shocked face, Lori looked confused. "Aurora, what's up?"

Aurora took a deep breath, wiped the coffee from her mouth with a napkin, and said seriously, "Lori, you almost made me a widow."

"What?" Lori exchanged a glance with Ava. When it clicked, her face went through a whole range of emotions. "Aurora, don't tell me that unlucky guy, John, is your fiancé."

Aurora cleared her throat. "Thank goodness you missed."

Lori and Ava went silent for a moment.

Ava quickly caught on. "That Mr. Lewis's guy who chased us all night can't be just some regular rich dude."

Aurora asked with a smile, "Didn't you check out your target before going for it?"

"We were too hasty." Lori took a sip of coffee to calm down. "Aurora, what's John's deal?"

"Find out for yourselves," Aurora said, rubbing her temples. "One's my man, the other's my cousin. I'm in a tough spot here."

Wolfpack and Nightfall had clashed before; rivals in the same field, Aurora couldn't say much more.

Lori glanced at Ava. "Ava, looks like we need to lay low for a bit."

Always getting orders to take out their own people, it was lucky Lori missed last night. Otherwise, she really wouldn't know how to explain to Aurora.

Aurora asked, "Who put up the big bucks for John's head?"

"Aurora, I can't tell you that. It's a rule; the buyer pays, and we can't spill their info."

Aurora gave her a look. "Didn't you just say you have a bad rep, that you'd even pocket the employer's money? What's stopping you now?"

Lori awkwardly touched her nose. "Aurora, I have professional ethics."

Ava tilted her head and asked seriously, "Lori, do you have ethics?"

"Just got them." Lori awkwardly covered her face. "I need a break, I'm too tired."

Aurora saw Lori didn't want to talk and didn't push it.

Those rules and grudges, Aurora wasn't clear on them either.

John would look into it himself, so she didn't worry.

Lori fell asleep in seconds.

Aurora and Ava leisurely continued their breakfast.

Lori was back to her energetic self after half an hour.

After breakfast, as they were parting, Lori said, "Aurora, why don't you go back and visit? Richard misses you a lot."

"Richard?" Aurora was puzzled.

"You didn't know?" Lori was even more puzzled than Aurora. "He came to see you before. This time I came to SilverCrest City because he told me you were here."

From her mom's side, besides Lori, Aurora had only met one other person.

Aurora remembered. "Is he my uncle, Richard Lee?"

Wolfpack was founded by the Lee family. Aurora should have thought of it earlier.

"Yes." Lori said, "Aurora, come back and visit. I'm leaving in a couple of days. If you want to visit Wolfpack, just contact me anytime."

Aurora was quite surprised that Richard wasn't just a friend of her mom, but her brother.

So, was it Richard who was at the cemetery that time, paying respects to her mom?

Her mom was from the Lee family.

No wonder Aurora's mom never mentioned her family.

"Okay, if I decide to go, I'll call you." Aurora remembered something and said, "By the way, can you get me a photo of Fox from the Shadow of Darkness organization?"

Aurora didn't know why, but this Fox from it always made her uneasy.

John said he didn't know Fox, and Aurora believed him. So who was this rival?

There was this rival, Jennifer, at the Meadowbrook Villa. So, who was this Fox? Were they connected?

"A photo, huh? That's a bit tricky," Lori said. "So far, no photos of Fox have surfaced. The folks from the Shadow of Darkness do all sorts of nasty stuff. Unlike us at Wolfpack, who are so upright and dare to show our true faces."

Aurora's eye twitched a bit, feeling speechless.

She wasn't sure if what Wolfpack did was honorable, but the stuff Lori did under their banner didn't seem all that noble either.

Since Lori couldn't dig up anything, it looked like she'd have to ask John for help.

Just after parting with Lori, Aurora got a call from her precious son, Summer. "Mommy, I'm heading back to the island. Aren't you coming to see me off?"

His voice sounded so pitiful, and Aurora's heart tightened. "Don't be sad, baby. Mommy's coming right away."

John was really fast. He said he'd send Summer away, and he acted immediately.

Aurora went straight to the dock, where Loren was reluctantly saying goodbye to Summer.

"Summer, don't go," Loren said.

"Loren, don't miss me too much. Take care of yourself."

"I don't want you to go." Loren felt sad.

"I don't want to go either."

Todd chimed in, "Loren, why don't you go to the island too? It's fun there, and there are lots of kids."

"No."

"No."

Summer and Aurora said in unison.

Seeing Aurora, Summer and Loren happily called out, "Mommy!"

Aurora walked over. She touched Summer's cheek and sincerely said, "When you get there, remember to call me often."

"Yes, Mommy, I'll call you every day." Summer was also reluctant, but he knew what he had to do.

"Good boy." Aurora kissed Summer's forehead. The time with her son was too short. "Take care of yourself, don't be reckless, safety first, get hurt less."

Not getting hurt was impossible, so Aurora could only ask for getting hurt less.

"Mommy, I'll take care of myself." Summer said, then looked at Loren. "Loren, take care of Mommy for me."

Loren nodded. "Yes, don't worry, I'll take good care of Mommy."

Aurora was very touched but felt a bit speechless. Did a woman in her twenties need a five-year-old kid to take care of her?

Aurora was amused and moved.

Sam and Tyler were also amused by the brothers' words.

At that moment, John arrived, followed by several people carrying a stretcher with Helen lying on it.

Aurora then realized they were also sending Helen to the island.

There wasn't much of a farewell; it was just a temporary separation.

John sent quite a few people to escort Summer and Helen back to the island, and Sam and Tyler went too.

Watching the ship sail away, Aurora suddenly felt a sense of melancholy. "Kids grow up and don't need their moms anymore."

Loren looked up. "Mommy, you still have me."

John added, "Aurora, I think we could have another child."

Aurora glared at John. Loren was still here, talking about having a baby.

Loren asked innocently, "Mommy, are you and John going to have a baby?"

John laughed, "Yes, Loren, do you like a baby sister? How about your mommy and I have a pretty baby sister to play with you?"

Loren nodded. "I like it, but does it have to be a baby sister? Will she definitely be pretty?"

John didn't know how to answer.

Aurora laughed. She picked up Loren and said, "Loren, let's go. Mommy will take you back to Grandma's."

After a few steps, Aurora suddenly noticed a familiar figure.

On the second floor of the dock restaurant, a woman wearing a mask was sitting by the window.
