Chapter 251 Alexander Turned Himself In
Out of a woman's intuition, Aurora felt that the financial advisor Alexander mentioned was suspectable
Alexander shook his head. "I don't know. After Matthew died, that financial advisor resigned and left."
"So eager to leave?" Aurora frowned.
"Aurora, what do you mean?" Alexander also got out of the car.
"Don't rush to turn yourself in. Find that financial advisor first. I think there might be something wrong with the car accident back then."
Aurora was also trying her luck. After all, if Alexander just wanted to teach Matthew a lesson, he wouldn't have gone as far as to kill him.
"Aurora, I'll do whatever you say." Alexander said, "After I properly bury Jennifer, I'll find that person."
Wasn't Jennifer's body already taken back by Sandra for burial?
Alexander saw Aurora's confusion and said, "I want to bury Jennifer in the same cemetery as your mother. I found a job as a caretaker there. I missed out when your mom was alive, so now I want to stay by her grave."
Hearing his words, Aurora was deeply shocked. "You're giving up The Shadow of Darkness organization?"
After working so hard for many years to gain fame and power, he was giving it all up.
Alexander smiled and took a deep breath. "I originally created it just to spite your mom. Now that she's gone, these material things mean nothing to me. Power, status, money, I've had them all and enjoyed them. It's enough."
Alexander was very open-minded and had truly let go. He came to find Aurora today because he wanted to fulfill his duty as a father before working at the cemetery.
If Aurora really wanted him to turn himself in, he would do so without hesitation.
Alexander got back to his car and took a bank card from it, then handed it to Aurora. "Take this.as a father's guilt. I haven't given you anything, almost got you killed before, and now I've caused a rift between you and John. Aurora, don't follow the same path as me and Wendy. The dead are gone; the living are what matter. Don't wait until you're my age to regret it. After all, there is no 'ifs' in this world."
Aurora asked curiously, "How much is in it?"
"Not much, just five billion dollars."
Though Aurora was prepared, she was still shocked upon hearing Alexander's words.
Did she just become a super-rich woman?
Aurora suddenly felt the card was burning hot, as Five billion dollars was right in her hand. "Did you empty The Shadow of Darkness organization?"
"No, I left a few hundred million for Sandra." Alexander said, "And The Shadow of Darkness organization is left to her. How much she earns depends on how she runs it."
"Can you reveal what The Shadow of Darkness organization mainly does to make so much money?" Aurora was quite curious, "Rumor has it you guys do everything."
"Yeah, we do everything. As long as it makes money, The Shadow of Darkness organization will do it. No matter what kind the business is, as long as it’s profitable." Alexander said, "I bought a few gold mines and some oil fields abroad."
What a wealthy man.
Aurora touched the card and sighed, "Alexander, you really know me well. You know how to buy me off. Although I'm a bit reluctant, I appreciate your gesture and I must return the card to you."
Alexander was surprised. "You don't want it?"
This was five billion dollars.
"If this money could bring Matthew back to life, then I would take it."
Money could buy everything, but not life.
When Aurora returned the Meadowbrook Villa, it was already late at night.
The children were all asleep, including Lori and Ava who had just moved in.The whole villa was very quiet.
This time, no one came looking for Aurora. The lights in the bedroom were also off.
When Aurora turned the door handle, she felt a bit disappointed and muttered, "Men are all the same. Once they get you, they don't care anymore. It's been a whole day, yet he didn't even come out to look for me."
In the darkness, John, hiding in a corner, felt quite helpless and speechless.
Aurora didn't answer the phone herself, yet she blamed him first.
Women could be really unreasonable sometimes.
Aurora mumbled as she went to turn on the light. Before she could see the room clearly, a creepy voice suddenly came from behind. "Finally willing to come back?"
Aurora was startled. She turned around and, upon seeing it was John, she angrily threw a few punches at him. "Damn it, you scared me to death."
John said seriously, "Do you know how worried I was when you didn't answer the phone, didn't come back, and had no news all day?"
Using the most serious tone to say the most submissive words, only John could do that.
Aurora joked, "If I went missing, wouldn't you call the police?"
"The police won't file a case for a disappearance that has been less than twenty-four hours."
John's expression was quite serious as if he was saying, "Don't mess with me, just come and comfort me."
Aurora swallowed and quietly put some distance between them, then she took off her coat while saying, "I ran into Alexander and talked for a while."
Honesty between husband and wife was fundamental.
If they kept secrets, cracks would eventually appear, leading to mutual suspicion.
John frowned slightly, "You know everything now. What do you plan to do?"
"Alexander admitted it." Aurora said, her voice getting lower as she turned her back to John. "John, when it comes to life and death, apologizing is useless. I know you are feeling uneasy. If your mom knew I was Alexander's daughter, it would strain our relationship. You're caught in the middle, so I think..."
"What do you think?" Before Aurora could finish her words, John suddenly reached out to grab Aurora's hand, pinning it against the wall and pressing against her, then said in a commanding tone, "I won't let you leave, and don't talk about repaying your father's debt. My dad's death is already a deep pain in my heart. Please don't add to it."
She could feel his fear.
Fear of losing her.
John's decision to marry her even after knowing the truth showed his determination.
Aurora looked at John, then cupped his face with both hands. "Don't worry, I didn't say I was leaving. I just don't know if having four children for the Lewis family can atone for Alexander's sins.
John, I won't run away when facing a tough problem. I'll try to solve it. If this deadlock can't be broken, then I'll choose to leave."
That was Aurora, facing challenges head-on, but leaving if they really could't be solved.
John pulled Aurora into his arms. "The dead are gone; the living are what matter."
These words were exactly the same as Alexander's.
Aurora looked at John in surprise.
John continued, "Alexander called me a few hours ago. He should have already turned himself in by now."
Aurora paused for a moment and realized Alexander had lied to her. He had planned to turn himself in all along but talked about investigating the car accident.
At this moment, Aurora received a call from the police. "Is this Ms. White? Your father, Alexander, has committed suicide out of guilt."
