Chapter 326: Not Spoiling You

Nemesis looked extremely upset. She wanted to argue, but Aurora had already said that Brian was from the security department. Aurora was the wife of the boss of AJ Group. How could what she said be false?

Nemesis was desperate to salvage her pride, but there was no way out of this one.

"Brian, make it clear. Are you from the security department or the general manager responsible for the Southern Region?"

She had already made a big deal out of it. These were all old classmates. If it turned out to be true, she'd be so embarrassed..

Brian stammered, "I'm not some regional general manager. I'm just a security guard."

As soon as he finished speaking, Nemesis almost fainted.

Everyone laughed mockingly and whispered among themselves.

"This is hilarious. I thought she married some company executive, but it turns out he's just a security guard."

"Looks like we're splitting the bill. A security guard? He might need a loan after this meal."

"Guess some folks should keep it real if they're short on cash. She was just saying Aurora was deceived, but it looks like she's the one who got deceived."

"This is definitely the funniest joke of the year."

Nemesis was unwilling to give up and pressed Brian, "You told me before that your parents were university professors and locals. That wasn't a lie, was it?"

If Aurora weren't here, Brian would have kept up the pretense. But now, how could he dare to pretend to be rich?

Brian's voice grew smaller, "My parents sell books at a roadside stall. That has something to do with knowledge, Nemesis. I didn't exactly lie to you."

Nemesis was so mad she could have spat nails. "You said they were university professors. If that's not lying, what is? I wondered why, after we registered our marriage, you never took me to meet your parents, always claiming they were too busy. Turns out you're just a big liar."

"They do occasionally go to universities to collect books. People often joke and call them professors. I didn't lie." Brian defended.

"Brian." Nemesis was seething. "I'm taking you to court for fraud. You're a straight-up liar."

"How can you blame me? You're too vain. If I didn't say that, would you have married me?" Brian retorted, "Nemesis, I truly love you. Money is just a thing. My job right now can still take care of us."

"How will you support me?" Nemesis was so angry she couldn't stay there any longer. Her face turned red, and she turned to leave.

"Nemesis, Nemesis."

Brian chased after her, and they started to struggle. Suddenly, Nemesis tore Brian's clothes, revealing a big hole in his shirt underneath.

He really was just putting on a show.

Everyone burst out laughing. Nemesis was utterly humiliated. She threw the clothes aside and ran away crying.

"Nemesis." Brian picked up the clothes and said to Aurora, "Ms. White, sorry, I need to go calm my wife." Then he left.

Aurora could see that Brian really loved Nemesis. Otherwise, he wouldn't have tried to generously offer to pay for the meal, which could cost tens of thousands of dollars and might actually bankrupt him.

As soon as Nemesis left, the room fell silent. Everyone was waiting for Aurora to speak, watching her expression.

Selene, who had been arguing with Aurora earlier, also quieted down and glanced at the bracelet on Aurora's hand.

Now, no one dared to say it was fake.

At this moment, the waiter brought in more dishes, all high-end items like king crab and caviar.

Someone had even ordered an expensive bottle of wine. This meal could easily cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Nemesis had been bragging about her husband being an executive with an annual income of a million dollars, so everyone dared to order like this.

Now Nemesis was gone.

But fortunately, Aurora was still there, the wife of the boss of AJ Group. The cost of this meal would be a drop in the bucket for her, right?

Selene, who had been flaunting earlier, was now low-key, afraid she might get stuck with the pay.

Someone asked, "Aurora, is your husband really the president of AJ Group?"

Aurora remained calm, "Yes, he started the company."

The person awkwardly smiled, "Why didn't you mention that earlier? This misunderstanding really snowballed."

Aurora retorted, "My husband is resting at home with a leg injury. I didn't expect everyone to be so enthusiastic, rushing to pitch job opportunities to him."

Everyone was not being enthusiastic; they just wanted to see Aurora embarrassed.

They didn't expect the joke to be on them.

Aurora stood up and smiled lightly, "You all enjoy your meal. I have something to do, so I'll leave first."

Hearing that Aurora was leaving, everyone got nervous.

If Aurora left, who would pay the bill?

Bragging was one thing, but they couldn't afford to pay.

"Aurora, don't go. It's rare for old classmates to get together. Sit down and eat something. Let's chat and catch up."

"Yeah, it's rare for everyone to gather. Let's make the most of it."

"We've ordered so much food. It would be a shame not to enjoy it."

"Aurora, you're not thinking of sneaking out to avoid paying, are you? You're the wife of the boss of AJ Group now. How could you be so stingy?"

Trying to provoke her?

Trying to make her pay?

Do they think she's a fool?

She wouldn't indulge these people.

Aurora smiled slightly and started to take money out of her bag.

Seeing her take out her bag, everyone thought she was going to pay and felt secretly pleased.

But Aurora only took out a hundred dollars and placed it on the table. "I just had a sip of tea. This is for the tea. I've paid my share. Enjoy your meal."

A hundred dollars?

Everyone was incredulous.

She could take out just that?

Selene couldn't help but voice, "Aurora, that's too stingy. This meal costs at least tens of thousands of dollars. You're so rich, and you only chip in a hundred? What's up with that?"

"I didn't order these dishes. Why should I foot the bill?" Aurora retorted with a cold smile. "Sure, I have money, but it didn't just fall from the sky. Why should I indulge you? Pay for you? Each of you is a big boss, doing big business, married to big bosses. You can't afford it?"

The reunion wasn't organized by her. She was dragged in halfway and only had a sip of tea. Expecting her to pay was impossible.

Aurora's words left everyone speechless. No one dared to speak up, knowing that whoever did would have to pay.

Aurora smirked, left the hundred dollars, and walked out.

Daniel had been waiting for a long time and hadn't seen her. He came to find Aurora and saw her coming out of a private room. He quickly went over, "Ms. White, the dishes are all ordered."

"Let's go."

Aurora followed Daniel to the dining area. Daniel was about to pull out a chair to act gentlemanly, but Aurora sat in another chair.

Daniel awkwardly smiled and sat down.

"Ms. White, just now..."

"Waiter, could you bring another set of silverware?." Aurora interrupted him.

Daniel asked, "Is someone else coming?"

"My husband." As soon as Aurora finished speaking, she caught sight of John. He wasn't using crutches or a wheelchair; he just walked over.

Seeing John, Daniel's face turned very unpleasant. He had invited Aurora, and now John was here. His plans were ruined.

Aurora's face also darkened when she saw John walking over. Wasn't he being reckless?

How could his leg injury heal so quickly?

Aurora knew John was trying to save face, so he didn't use a wheelchair.

"John, you're being reckless again." Aurora's words were just a reprimand. She got up and went to support John.
