Chapter 396 It's Time to Set Rules

Kawaii ran up to Summer, her innocent smile radiating pure joy.

"Summer, I missed you so much!"

John and his wife fell silent. Their future daughter-in-law was truly something special.

Summer shot John and Aurora a look, implying they should not get any ideas. Then he patted Kawaii's head. "You're so young, what are you doing training?"

John chimed in, "Kids on the island start training at three. You were already past that age when you arrived."

"Dad, do you even know how to protect a girl? Kawaii is a girl. I'll protect her; she doesn't need training."

Aurora chuckled at John's discomfort and whispered, "See, doesn't Summer remind you of yourself?"

John sighed, "My son has already started to defy me."

"Get used to it. This way, you can retire early."

"But how do we divide everything among the four sons?"

"You're worried they'll fight over the inheritance?" Aurora said. "No way. Fighting over the inheritance is out of the question. The money is mine, all mine. Not a penny will leave my pocket."

John suggested, "How about we transfer the assets and pretend we're broke?"

"Great idea, let's do it."

Their whispered conversation was loud enough for everyone around to hear.

Summer rolled her eyes. "Mom, can you consider our feelings? We're still kids."

Aurora turned and smiled, pretending to cry. "Summer, your father and I are really poor. You'll have to support us in the future. We're so poor, I think you should start acting in TV shows or modeling. It would make a lot of money."

Summer and Loren were speechless. Their parents were worth billions, and they were pretending to be poor?

Loren said, "Mom, we're not three-year-olds anymore."

Summer added, "We're almost six."

Loren continued, "Mom, don't be so stingy, or you'll scare away our future daughter-in-law."

Just then, Sam ran over. "Mr. Lewis, the finance department needs a million dollars for training expenses. We need to buy new equipment."

Before John could respond, Aurora, who controlled the finances, immediately said, "No money. We're broke."

John nodded seriously. "You heard my wife. If she says we're broke, we're broke. Go ask Todd for sponsorship."

Sam scratched his head. "Again with Mr. Smith?"

Even Sam felt sorry for Todd, dealing with such stingy people.

"Honey, I'm hungry," Aurora said, rubbing her stomach to change the subject.

John played along. "I'll take you to get something to eat."

"Okay, honey."

And off they went.

Todd came over holding Jax. "Why is everyone here? Summer, can you check if Jax needs a diaper change? He smells awful."

Summer took a look and confirmed it. Jax needed a change.

Summer handed Jax to Sam and gave him a look.

Sam immediately grabbed Todd. "Mr. Smith, the finance department needs some funds. Can you swipe your card?"

"Ask John for money, not me. Don't pull on me, this is my new outfit."

"Mr. Lewis said there's no money. You're up, Mr. Smith. Let's go."

Sam dragged Todd away.

Todd yelled, "I don't have money either! I'm saving for my wedding!"

Summer suddenly realized something. "Where's Trey?"

"Your uncle has him."

Upon hearing that Todd had given Trey to Jack, Summer quickly handed Jax to Loren. "You take him to change his diaper. I'm going to find Trey."

Summer hurried off, and Kawaii chased after her with her little legs. "Summer, wait up!"

...

John took Aurora back to their room, which had everything they needed, and faced the ocean. The view was better than any tourist spot.

Aurora lay on a wicker chair, snacking on fruit. "How big is this island?"

"About the size of a small town," John said, looking at his computer.

Aurora was curious. "What are you looking at?"

She walked over and saw John watching surveillance footage of the entire island. The video was so clear that you could see someone squatting in the grass.

John said, "The island is fully monitored, and there are many traps. Don't wander alone; it's best to have someone guide you."

Aurora saw Jack on the screen. "Jack is holding Trey."

John had already noticed. He was watching the video to find Jack's location.

Jack was walking along the beach, circling the island.

Aurora was curious. "What's Jack doing?"

"Probably exploring," John said. "I'll have Jenny bring him back."

Aurora's attention shifted to Jenny.

"Who's Jenny?"

John was silent.

Women's thought processes were hard to predict.

"When will Lori arrive?"

"Don't change the subject." Aurora narrowed her eyes, serious. "Changing the subject means something's up. Who is Jenny? She's a woman, right?"

"Yes, she's a member of Nightfall. You'll see her soon."

Twenty minutes later.

Aurora saw Jenny, who had an exotic look, with striking features and captivating eyes.

"Mr. Lewis, I brought him back."

Jenny stepped aside, and Jack came in holding Trey.

"Aurora, this island is huge and beautiful. I saw them training earlier. The equipment here is better than the place Richard sent me for training. No wonder Nightfall rose so quickly."

Even though Nightfall had suffered heavy losses, its core remained intact.

Nightfall's foundation was on this island.

John took Trey. "If you like it, stay a while. I'll have Jenny show you around."

"That would be great, thank you."

John gave Jenny a look. "Show him around, but avoid Mistveil Forest."

"Yes, Mr. Lewis."

Jenny took Jack out.

Aurora asked, "Why can't we go to Mistveil Forest? Is it dangerous?"

"Mistveil Forest is always foggy. People who go in might not come out," John explained briefly. "It's time to feed the twins. I'll go make some formula."

John's return with his wife quickly spread across the island.

Many were curious about the woman John had married. People frequently passed by their house, trying to catch a glimpse of the legendary Mrs. Lewis.

Aurora, wearing a long dress with her hair down, sat leisurely on the wicker chair. When she noticed people peeking, she turned to look.

That one glance, with the sea breeze lifting her hair and dress, made her look ethereal.

The news that John had married a fairy spread quickly across the island.

More and more people gathered outside, so John closed the doors and windows. They even had dinner inside.

Aurora teased, "Are you hiding your beauty?"

"People are getting too bold. It's time to set some rules."

Just then, John noticed something unusual on the island's perimeter through his computer. His expression turned serious.
