Chapter 246 How Low Emotional Intelligence Men Are Made
"Don't hang up yet..."
But before Todd could finish, the call had already ended.
Staring at the dark screen, Todd went silent.
Lori, looking anxious, asked, "What do we do now?"
Todd gave an awkward smile. "Gary asked me to help you, and if I can't, there's nothing more he can do."
Even though those weren't his exact words, that was pretty much the gist of it.
Lori exploded. "Damn it, I knew you had ulterior motives. I'm going to cripple you."
With that, she immediately began to hit him.
Todd dodged while explaining, "Don't hit me. You asked me, and I'm just passing on Gary's message. I have no ulterior motives towards you. Even if you were interested in me, I don't feel the same way."
Todd felt like Gary had set him up.
"Say that again." Lori's anger flared even more as she grabbed Todd's shirt. Todd defended himself without fighting back.
He couldn't fight back; he wasn't a match for her.
As they tussled, there was a loud ripping sound, and Todd's shirt was torn.
Todd felt a chill on his arm as he found his sleeve was gone.
With another sound, both sleeves were torn off by Lori, and they both paused for a moment.
The torn sleeves were in Lori's hands, and Todd's arms were exposed.
"It's not my fault; your shirt is just poor quality." Lori said, her gaze falling on Todd's arms. He had a lean build and very smooth skin.
Todd quickly covered his chest, trying to protect his modesty, and said, "Don't think you can take advantage of me. I'm telling you, I won't give in."
Lori clenched her teeth in anger, trying to hold back her rage.
If Gary were here, he would probably want to cover his face. Todd actually turned down a woman's advances!
"I'm not interested in you either. Don't act like I'm trying to take advantage of you." Lori said disdainfully. "I like muscular men. You're too weak for my taste. I could knock you down with one finger."
Todd breathed a sigh of relief, feeling safe. "That's good."
Lori was infuriated by his relieved reaction. "Todd, are you even a man? At least, I'm a curvy beauty, and here we are alone, and you don't have any improper thoughts?"
It was too humiliating. Even beauties had their pride. In such a situation, wasn't it usually the woman who feared being taken advantage of by the man? Yet Lori wasn't even afraid, while Todd, a grown man, acted like he was the one at risk. How infuriating.
Todd said seriously, "I'm not that kind of person."
Lori almost lost it again. She wasn't that kind of person either.
Lori raised her hand to hit him but stopped mid-air, feeling it was pointless, and put it down. "Let's go."
She walked ahead, her emotions running high, making her feel even worse.
Todd asked, "Where to?"
Lori gritted her teeth. "To the hospital."
She really didn't want to say another word to Todd.
"Aren't you afraid of being humiliated?" Todd continued.
"I'm afraid I might end up sleeping with you." Lori mocked.
"Then let's hurry to the hospital. I'll get the car." Todd said, walking faster.
At the hospital.
After treatment, Lori was back to normal in an hour.
A kind nurse whispered to Lori, "Do you need me to call the police for you?"
Given Lori's condition and the fact that she was brought in by a man, the nurse instinctively labeled Todd as a douchebag and Lori as a victim.
Hearing this, Lori's eyes widened, a hint of a mischievous smile appeared at the corner of her mouth as she glanced at Todd. Then, looking very aggrieved, she grabbed the nurse's hand and nodded frantically. "Yes, please call the police. I want to report this douchebag."
Sitting in the waiting area, Todd overheard and chuckled. "Ms. Hernandez, you change your tune too quickly. That's not fair. Who's really the bully here? You're perfectly fine, but look at my clothes—they're in tatters because of you. Clearly, I'm the victim."
The nurse looked at Todd, and from the appearance, it did seem like he was the one who looked more like a victim.
"Shameless," Lori glared at him. "You drugged me, and that's a fact."
Todd retorted, "You asked for the drink."
Lori argued, "The drink was yours."
Todd insisted, "But I didn't make you drink it."
Lori said, "You offered it to me."
Todd replied helplessly, "Then call the police."
Lori said, "Fine, let's call the police."
Half an hour later, Lori was detained for false accusations, defamation, and harassment of a male.
Todd stood outside the bars with a smug smile. "Ms. Hernandez, you asked for the police. three days of detention isn't long. Just sleep it off."
Inside the bars, Lori was so angry her whole body was trembling.
Todd was definitely her nemesis.
Lori shouted, "Damn you! Just you wait!"
"Anytime." Todd said nonchalantly.
With that, he walked away with his hands behind his back, looking quite graceful.
The incident of Todd and Lori's altercation, which ended with Lori being sent to detention, reached Gary while he was drinking water. Despite his good manners cultivated over thirty years, he couldn't help but spit it out.
Gary was silent for a moment, then gave Todd a thumbs up. "You're really something."
Even John didn't know what to say when he heard about it.
Lori naturally didn't stay in detention for three days. Aurora bailed her out.
When Aurora learned the whole story, she found herself at a loss for words to describe Todd.
He was simply not very emotionally intelligent.
Aurora instinctively asked, "Does Todd have erectile dysfunction?"
If Todd had half of John's emotional intelligence, he wouldn't still be single.
On the way back, Lori kept cursing Todd.
If Aurora hadn't stopped her, she would have gone to fight Todd.
Back at the hotel, Ava also knew about this incident. Lori felt particularly embarrassed and turned her face away, refusing to talk.
Ava also asked, "Does Todd have erectile dysfunction?"
Aurora and Ava exchanged a glance, finally finding a kindred spirit.
At this moment, Lori suddenly turned her face back and seriously analyzed, "I think it's possible. I'm such a beauty, but he had no reaction at all. He must be impotent. Afraid I'd find out, he falsely accused me and sent me to detention to cover up his impotence."
She felt it made perfect sense as she slapped her thigh and laughed. "He thought he could hide it from me, but I finally discovered his vulnerability. Considering how pitiful he is, I won't hold it against him this time. Ava, I know how to deal with Todd now. I'll use my charm. I'm so clever."
Ava and Aurora paused for a moment and didn't understand her logic.
While everyone was looking down on Todd, he only told the truth to one person, Summer.
Summer also asked, "Todd, do you really have erectile dysfunction?"
Todd lightly tapped Summer on the back of the head. "You don't really understand me. In my mind, it's important to have mutual respect in any relationship. If I don't plan to marry her, I won't casually have sex with her."
