Chapter 93 Aurora's Confession
Aurora left the White Family and, braving the heavy rain, called Sophia.
When Sophia pulled up in her car, she saw Aurora sitting by the roadside, not even trying to stay dry.
"Are you nuts?" Sophia asked.
She ran over with an umbrella, splashing through the puddles.
Aurora looked up and smiled at her. Years later, Sophia would still complain about how pitiful Aurora looked at that moment.
The rain had sobered Aurora up quite a bit.
Once in the car, Sophia quickly found a dry towel for her. "Dry your hair first, or you'll catch a cold."
Sophia seemed careless but was actually very attentive.
"My sweet Sophia, you're so considerate." Aurora smiled, teasingly hooked Sophia's chin. "Let me crash at your place tonight."
"Of course." Sophia didn't ask what had happened.
Sophia had her own place and occasionally stayed there.
Aurora took a hot bath to shake off the cold, feeling much better afterward. When she came out of the bathroom, Sophia had already prepared some milk.
"Drink this." Sophia sat down. "Aurora, you looked so scary sitting in the rain."
Aurora smiled at her. "Sorry for making you worry."
Taking a deep breath, Aurora looked at the heavy rain. "Sophia, I realized something. Being kind only gets you bullied."
Sophia quickly asked, "Did Emily and Nicole pull something again?"
Aurora shook her head, thought for a moment, and said, "My children are still alive, and my dad finally admitted it. And actually, they're fraternal twin boys."
"What?" Sophia was shocked. "Aurora, where are the kids?"
"Angel Baby Orphanage." Aurora suppressed her urge to see the children immediately. "I'll go find them once the rain stops."
A night of thinking had prepared her mentally.
"Aurora, do you mean to bring the kids back?" Sophia hesitated. "How will you explain it to John? His girlfriend suddenly having two kids will make it even harder for you guys to get back together. The gap is too huge. I'm worried..."
"Sophia, even without these two kids, there's a huge gap between John and me. He's not just a rideshare driver; he's the head of the Lewis Family."
Aurora hadn't shared this with Sophia before.
Sophia was stunned.
"John is Mr. Lewis?" Sophia stammered. "Aurora, you're dating Mr. Lewis? But isn't he supposed to be crippled and disfigured? Oh, I get it. He was in disguise. But why? Was he testing you?"
With Sophia's limited understanding, how could she think of such machinations as family infighting?
Aurora, holding the milk, sat cross-legged on the sofa. "Sophia, it's a secret. Keep it to yourself for now. John has his own plans."
"Don't worry, I will keep a secret." Sophia knew what could and couldn't be said. "But Aurora, if you bring the kids back, will Mr. Lewis agree? He risked his life to save you before; he must have fallen in love with you."
Aurora fell silent. This was why she hadn't agreed to get back with John.
"Aurora, what do you think? Do you love John?" Sophia asked curiously.
Aurora reached out and poked Sophia's forehead, smiling. "Why are you speaking up for him today? Did he bribe you?"
"It's John, the whole package. Before, when he was crippled and not long for this world, it was one thing. But now that we know he's a handsome and outstanding man, you should hold on to him tightly. Are you stupid?" Sophia rolled her eyes at Aurora. "With John as your backing, no one in Silver Crest City would dare to bully you."
Aurora couldn't help but laugh.
"I'm serious. No joking around," Sophia said, annoyed.
Aurora chuckled. "You look just like Loren when you're mad."
Sophia shot back, "I don't have as much meat on my face as Loren."
Aurora stood up, holding her cup, and walked to the window, looking at the rain outside and her reflection in the glass.
Sophia quietly turned on the recording function on her phone and hid it behind her.
"I can't deny that I like John. Every time he shows up, it feels like spring has arrived, so warm." Aurora smiled as she thought of John. "My past can't be changed. If he's truly willing to accept it, then I'll take a chance, no matter what happens."
"That's the Aurora I know." Sophia moved closer with her phone. "But what will it take for you to believe he's really willing?"
Aurora shook her head. "Honestly, I don't know. Let's just go with the flow."
The word "willing" was never just lip service.
Aurora was in a sensitive and insecure phase. Even if John said he was willing, she would still hesitate.
"It's late, Aurora. You should get some rest now." Sophia smiled. "I'll go with you to the orphanage tomorrow."
"Okay." Aurora was indeed exhausted.
Seeing Aurora go to the room to rest, Sophia took out her phone and saved the recording.
She wouldn't let this good match between Aurora and John fall apart.
She would find a way to bring them back together. The next day, Aurora woke up at dawn.
She couldn't wait to go to the orphanage to see her children.
On the way, Sophia yawned and asked, "Aurora, those kids are over four years old now. They probably won't know you. Are you prepared for that?"
Aurora replied, "A bit nervous."
But nothing could stop her from looking for her children.
However, when they arrived at the orphanage, Aurora was stunned.
Angel Baby Orphanage was being demolished.
Aurora panicked. She got out of the car and rushed in, grabbing a worker. "Where are the children? Why is the orphanage being demolished?"
"They're building a mall here. As for the kids, how would I know?"
Aurora found the former director of the orphanage and learned that the children had been transferred to other orphanages three months ago.
This area had been acquired by a developer to build a mall, and coincidentally, it was a project under the Lewis Group.
Aurora urgently asked the director, "I want to ask, four years ago, did your orphanage take in a pair of fraternal twin boys? Where are they now?"
Director Bell, a middle-aged man, looked guilty when he heard she was looking for those boys.
"Twin boys? No, miss, you must be mistaken."
Those boys had been left at the orphanage's doorstep years ago, and no one had come looking for them until today.
"How could there be none? Think carefully. Four years ago, there must have been." Aurora was emotional. Could Dean have lied to her?
Director Bell pretended to think, then slapped his forehead. "I remember now. There was a pair, but they were adopted shortly after arriving at the orphanage. It's been a long time, and with so many kids coming and going, I almost forgot about them."
Aurora was overjoyed. "Do you have the contact information of the adopters?"
"No, the records of the children from four years ago were destroyed in a fire."
This was true, and the fire's culprits were the twin brothers.
