Chapter 98 The Charity Gala Incident - The Fake Bracelet
In Aurora's book, only she could mess with her man. Anyone else who tried would be her enemy.
Just being called "Mrs. Taylor" was enough to make Jane squirm.
She was just a mistress, not even a proper one. She didn't deserve the title of Mrs. Taylor.
The Lewis Family was not someone the Taylors could mess with.
Jane felt super awkward. Seeing her get scolded made Emily happy, and she had no plans to help.
Jane couldn't do anything to Aurora, so she just glared at Emily, taking her anger out on her.
"Daniel marrying you is the worst luck ever," Jane snapped, her face red with anger. "If it weren't for you, Ms. White would have been my daughter-in-law. You must have upset Ms. White just now, didn't you?"
"Mom, I didn't," Emily said, feeling wronged and angry. 'The old hag saw that I was abandoned by the White Family and that the Harris family didn't want to acknowledge me, so she started to bully me.'
Aurora had no interest in the drama between Emily and Jane. She said coldly, "Mrs. Taylor, watch your words. I'll say it again, I have nothing to do with Daniel. Defamation can land you in jail. If you're short on money, considering the $200,000 you once threw at me, I might lend you some."
Jane had once given her a $200,000 check to stop seeing Daniel.
Aurora's actions today were just payback for the humiliation Jane had given her.
After saying this, Aurora didn't care about Jane's reaction and walked out.
Jane was furious, but given the fact that Aurora was now Kevin's goddaughter, she still hoped Daniel could win her back, so she couldn't lose her temper or offend her.
"Mom," Emily called out.
"You jinx," Jane slapped Emily across the face. "It's all your fault. Otherwise, how would Aurora dare to humiliate me like this?"
The slap was hard, causing Emily's face to immediately turn red, a deep hatred flashing in her eyes.
Emily touched her face, clenching her fists tightly. Jane continued to curse, pointing at Emily's nose. "You're a jinx, bringing bad luck to Daniel. Don't think you're special just because you're pregnant. Who knows whose child it really is? Your mother was a shameless slut, and you're no better."
As Jane's insults grew harsher, Emily's hatred turned into a desire to harm. She glared at Jane's face, filled with venomous words, with only one thought in her mind at that moment: to make Jane shut up forever.
Aurora found Loren in the hall, eating chocolate ice cream.
"Loren, too much sweets is bad for your health."
Loren loved sweets and couldn't resist them.
"Sis, have a bite," Loren generously offered. "Eating sweets makes you feel good."
"Alright," Aurora smiled and took a bite. She looked around but didn't see Ashley and asked, "Where's Grandma?"
"Pretty Grandma is counting the donations," Loren said, swinging his legs on the sofa. "Sis, I saw that bad guy again."
Loren was talking about Daniel.
Previously, Loren had peed on Daniel. Aurora asked nervously, "Did he do anything to you?"
Loren whispered, "Sis, let me tell you a secret. The bad guy gave me five thousand dollars to ask you out for dinner. I took the money, but sis, you can't go to that dinner."
Aurora shook her head and laughed. "Loren, you sold me out for just five thousand dollars?"
"Sis, I have to save money to marry you in the future," Loren sighed, looking very stressed. "Pretty Grandma said it takes a lot of money to get married."
"Oh, you even get that," Sophia said, appearing from behind and handing Loren a glass of juice. "Loren, how much have you saved?"
"Not telling you," Loren snorted. "The bad guy is too stingy, not generous at all."
Aurora laughed. "You took his money and now you don't want me to go to dinner with him. Be careful; he might come looking for his money back."
"No way," Loren clutched the money tightly, looking like a little miser. "A gentleman's word is his bond. He gave it to me; he can't take it back."
Aurora said, "But you promised to help him ask me out for dinner."
"I'm just a kid," Loren pouted. "He's a bad guy. Taking some money from him is called robbing the rich to help the poor."
Aurora and Sophia were both amused.
Sophia laughed, holding her stomach. "Little miser, robbing the rich to help the poor? I think you're just taking advantage."
Loren was a bundle of joy, often saying unexpected things that made everyone laugh.
Sophia loved playing with Loren the most.
The three of them were chatting and laughing when Aurora suddenly felt an uncomfortable gaze on her.
She turned to look and saw Emily coming from the direction of the restroom.
Emily was alone and walked straight to Daniel.
Daniel saw Emily alone and asked, "Where's Mom? Didn't she go to the restroom too?"
"She said she was tired and went back to rest." Emily smiled and took Daniel's arm, deliberately showing the side of her face that had been slapped.
"In public, why are you pulling and tugging?" Daniel frowned and pulled his hand back. He did notice Emily's swollen face and casually asked, "What happened to your face?"
"Mom hit me." Emily lowered her head, looking pitiful.
Daniel showed no sympathy, only saying, "You should be more accommodating to my mom. Don't cause trouble. The charity banquet is about to start. Either go back or cover your face. If people see it, they'll think the Taylor family mistreated you."
Daniel's words broke Emily's heart. She secretly vowed to make Daniel regret it, but outwardly, she was obedient. "Okay, I'll go touch up my makeup."
The banquet was about to start, and the hall entrance suddenly quieted down as everyone looked towards it.
John entered in a wheelchair, pushed by Sam, followed by Lucas and Todd.
Their appearance made the entire charity banquet feel more prestigious.
John and Todd, one was the head of the Lewis Group, the other the heir to Smith Media Group, and Lucas was not only well-known in the entertainment industry but also the youngest son of the Lewis Family. Each of them was a heavyweight.
Aurora's eyes met John's, and Sophia could smell the sweetness of love in the air.
Sophia teased, "Someone's thoughts have flown over there."
Aurora snapped back to reality and glared at Sophia. "I didn't do anything."
"Don't deny it," Sophia laughed. "Are you going to have a wedding soon?"
This time, Aurora didn't avoid the topic and smiled. "You won't miss out on the wedding."
Sophia was surprised and excitedly hugged Aurora. "Congratulations."
Kevin personally led John and the others to the front row, and Aurora's seat was right behind John's.
This was Ashley's deliberate arrangement.
The banquet began, and the host took the stage. "Thank you all for taking the time to attend tonight's charity banquet..."
Suddenly, a sharp electric sound came from the microphone, and everyone instinctively covered their ears. The host also moved the microphone away.
At that moment, a woman in work clothes hurriedly ran onto the stage and whispered something to the host.
Just then, the microphone suddenly worked again, and the sound that came through it shocked the entire charity banquet.
"The jade bracelet donated by Ms. White is fake."
