Chapter 174 Really Pregnant

The night was dark and windy. They touched down in this tiny town. Lori took Aurora and Loren to their place to get settled in first. Ava pulled out a pregnancy test and handed it to Aurora.

"Thanks," Aurora said, heading to the bathroom to take the test.

The rest of them hung out in the living room, with Loren standing guard at the bathroom door like it was his job.

All the houses here were just two stories high, with this old-school, exotic vibe.

Lori grabbed a little stool and squeezed in next to Ava. She nudged her with her elbow. "Alright, spill the tea. What's up with the pregnancy test, Ava? This is killing me. Who's the guy?"

"I'm with you all the time. Where would I find a guy?" Ava said, waving her hand like it was no big deal.

"That's the thing," Lori said, slapping her thigh. "Maybe you sneak out when I'm asleep."

Ava got serious. "I don't have a guy."

Lori's eyes went wide with horror as she looked down at herself. "It can't be me, right? I don't have the equipment to get you pregnant."

The conversation was getting more and more ridiculous.

Even though Ava had known Lori for years and was used to her antics, she was still shocked.

"The pregnancy test isn't mine," Ava said. "I bought it for Cathy Martinez during a mission, and this one was left over."

Cathy Martinez was this gorgeous woman in charge of procurement.

Lori patted her chest and sighed in relief. "You scared me."

Then she got all gossipy. "Who did Cathy hook up with?"

Ava was totally speechless.

In the bathroom.

Aurora sat on the toilet, staring at the pregnancy test as it slowly absorbed the liquid. Gradually, one line appeared.

Aurora felt a pang of disappointment. Could she really not get pregnant?

She anxiously stared at the test for another two minutes, and then another line appeared. Two red lines!

Aurora was so excited her hands were shaking. Two red lines meant she was pregnant.

She checked it over and over, then took another test, and two red lines showed up again. She was really pregnant.

Aurora's eyes welled up with tears, and she covered her mouth in excitement. She and John were having a baby.

She touched her still-flat belly, feeling a bit guilty. She had drunk so much before, and the little one must have been so mad, making her throw up.

Aurora's emotions were all over the place. She was definitely happy and excited.

She remembered when she was pregnant with Summer and Loren. Back then, she felt more fear and anxiety than joy.

So right now, she felt guilty towards Summer and Loren.

After John accepted Loren and Summer, she felt she owed him. Now that she was pregnant, she could make up for that.

In short, Aurora's feelings were super complicated.

Now that she was at the Wolfpack branch, she decided to wait until she saw John to share the good news and surprise him.

"Mommy, are you done?" Loren called from outside, sounding a bit anxious.

"Coming," Aurora said, flushing the toilet and washing her hands before coming out.

Loren immediately hugged Aurora's leg. "Mommy, is there a little sister?"

Lori also asked, "Are you pregnant?"

With such eager expressions, people would think Lori was the one who was pregnant.

Aurora smiled and nodded, patting Loren's head. "You're going to be a big brother."

"Yay," Loren cheered, clenching his fist. "I'm going to be a big brother. I have a sister."

"Really? Aurora, let me touch," Lori said excitedly, reaching out to touch Aurora's belly.

Loren protected Aurora. "Lori, you're so clumsy. Be careful not to hurt Mommy."

Lori protested, "Nonsense, I'm not clumsy."

Aurora couldn't help but laugh. Loren said, "Mommy, go lie down and rest. You can't get too tired now. You need to rest more in the first three months so the baby can grow quickly and come out to meet me."

Lori teased, "Little chubby, how do you know so much? It's not scientific. I don't even know this stuff."

"That's the benefit of reading more books," Loren said, giving Lori a disdainful look. "You only know how to fight and kill, not at all like a girl."

Loren secretly decided that he would teach his sister in the future and not let her be like Lori.

Lori felt deeply hurt, but Aurora laughed, feeling in a good mood.

Just then, there was a rush of footsteps outside, sounding like a bunch of people were heading their way.

A man shouted from outside, "Lori, I heard you brought two strangers back. Don't you know what this place is for? You can't just bring outsiders in. Hand them over."

Lori and Ava exchanged a look, both showing annoyed expressions. "What a buzzkill."

Aurora asked, "Lori, what's going on?"

It was clear he was coming for Aurora. If it would cause trouble for Lori, she wouldn't stay.

"Aurora, don't worry. It's just an old stubborn guy. I'll handle him."

Lori and Ava went out. The yard was filled with people, men and women, young and old.

Lori glanced around and her eyes landed on a middle-aged man at the front. "Bobcat, is it necessary to make such a big scene at night? What's wrong with me bringing two friends back?"

The man had a stiff face and rigid features. He was in charge of the branch and was nicknamed Bobcat, real name Hank Baker.

"Lori, I'm just doing my job. Don't think you can break the rules just because you're Mr. Lee's niece." As Hank spoke, his face twitched, looking a bit scary. "Hand them over. I'll interrogate them first, and if there's no problem, I'll return them to you."

"Ridiculous." Lori sneered. "Bobcat, your interrogation methods are notoriously brutal. If I hand them over to you, they might never come back alive. As long as I'm here, you can never take them away."

Hank's face turned livid. Lori's combat skills were off the charts, capable of taking on ten men at once. No one dared to challenge her.

Hank's expression darkened. "Recently, there's been a spy stealing our secrets and causing significant losses to Wolfpack. I'm just being cautious, Lori. You need to consider the bigger picture."

"If the secrets were stolen, that's your incompetence," Lori said as she stepped aside and placed one leg on a stool. She shook her leg and smiled nonchalantly. "If anyone's not afraid of death and can withstand a kick from me, go ahead and try."

Hank signaled to the person next to him, who dared to take two steps forward before Lori kicked him away.

Lori sneered, stretching her leg. "You are really not afraid of death."

Hank was furious. "Lori, how can you attack your own people?"

Aurora heard the commotion outside. She looked out the window and saw the yard full of people, feeling a bit worried. "Loren, stay inside. I'm going out to take a look."

"Mommy, it's dangerous." Loren didn't want Aurora to go out.

Aurora said, "It's okay, I'm just taking a look."

"Then I'm going too."

"No," Aurora said firmly, leaving Loren inside.

Hank had always disliked Lori, thinking she was too unruly and violent. But Lori was famously fierce in fights, capable of taking on ten men at once, and she was also the niece of Richard. He didn't dare to act rashly.

As the standoff continued, the door suddenly opened.

Aurora walked out, and the cold moonlight cast a thin veil over her.

The night wind blew, lifting her long hair and making her clothes flutter.

Hank was stunned by her appearance for a moment, his eyes filled with infatuation, and he subconsciously blurted out, "Wendy."
