Chapter 29 Aurora Was Wronged
"Dad, what's wrong? Dad." Nancy panicked.
John looked down at Ernest with disdain, then walked over to Aurora and took her hand. "Hungry? Let's go eat."
The two left as if no one else was around.
Ernest looked distressed, muttering, "It's over. It's over."
"Dad, what's over?" Nancy helped Ernest up. "It's just Aurora. She caused the company a huge loss. We'll sue her and make her pay."
Nancy had already planned it out. If she caused trouble for Aurora, Aurora's boyfriend would definitely dump her, giving Nancy a chance.
"You don't understand." Ernest suddenly shouted, "You useless girl, the Wilson family is ruined because of you."
Nancy was baffled by this, and Joe, gathering his courage, asked, "Mr. Wilson, does Aurora's boyfriend have some prominent background?"
Joe shouldn't have asked. This question turned Ernest's anger towards him.
Ernest looked at Joe, even angrier. "Throw this man out."
"Mr. Wilson." Joe panicked. Seeing the security guards approaching, he quickly pleaded. "Nancy, say something to your dad. Mr. Wilson..."
Joe was dragged out, looking extremely embarrassed and humiliated.
Nancy was too scared to speak, and the other employees didn't dare to make a sound.
Aurora, having left the company, was now having lunch with John at a restaurant.
Helen was there too, constantly serving Aurora food and asking what she liked to eat.
Aurora felt very embarrassed. Was this like meeting with a boyfriend's parents?
Aurora secretly glared at John. He didn't even give her a heads-up.
John's eyes were full of smiles. "My mom just got back from a trip. When she heard I had a girlfriend, she couldn't wait to see you. I hope she didn't scare you."
Aurora wasn't scared, but she was very surprised and at a loss.
A trip?
Helen glanced at John. When did she go on a trip?
Receiving a warning look from John, Helen immediately understood and smiled. "Yes, I just got back from a trip. If I had known John had a girlfriend, I wouldn't have gone. I should have come to see you earlier."
"Helen, I should have visited you first." Aurora was flattered. "I didn't know you were back. Please don't blame me for being impolite."
"Of course not. I like you no matter what." Helen held Aurora's hand warmly. "Aurora, drink this soup. It's good for you. You're too thin and need to nourish yourself."
John looked Aurora up and down and nodded. "You are a bit thin."
Aurora glared at John and asked, "Why are you here, and why are you dressed so formally?"
John naturally wouldn't tell Aurora that he had left a group of senior leaders at Lewis Group to rush over.
Helen laughed. "I called him over. I thought Ernest was bullying you too much, so I quickly called John to come to the rescue. This is the new outfit I brought back for him from my trip. I made him wear it. Aurora, how does he look? Handsome, right?"
"Very handsome." Aurora didn't doubt it. John was already very charming in his usual attire. In formal wear, he was even more attractive, exuding a restrained charm that made one want to strip him and do whatever they wanted.
Realizing her thoughts had strayed, Aurora quickly snapped back to reality and looked away.
John noticed Aurora's ears turning red, his smile widening. He leaned in and whispered, "I'll let you do whatever you want tonight."
Aurora's face turned bright red, her eyes widening.
'Could John read minds?'
'How did he know what I was thinking?'
Aurora shyly slapped John. "What are you talking about? I want to do nothing to you."
John easily held Aurora's hand, interlocking their fingers.
Aurora, feeling embarrassed with Helen around, tried to pull her hand back, her face turning even redder.
Seeing Aurora and John flirting, Helen was overjoyed.
How long had it been since she saw John smile, let alone show so many natural emotions?
Helen was even more convinced that Aurora would marry John.
Whoever dared to bully Aurora would have to get the permission of Helen.
Thinking of what had just happened, Aurora asked, "What did you say to Mr. Wilson earlier?"
Why was Ernest scared like that?
Actually, if John hadn't come, Aurora would have had her own way to handle the situation.
She had been with the Wilson Group for many years. If she didn't have some self-protection skills, she wouldn't have stayed so long.
Aurora wasn't someone who liked to cause trouble, but she also wasn't someone who would let herself be bullied without fighting back.
John half-jokingly said, "I told him his biggest loss was losing such a good employee like you."
"Just that simple?" Aurora didn't believe it.
John added, "Uh, I also threatened him. If he caused you more trouble, he'd have to deal with my fists."
Aurora laughed. "That's more like you. But you can't go around hitting people. We're in a society governed by law, not by fists."
Aurora was worried about John's personality.
John smiled warmly. "Okay, I'll listen to you."
Helen saw John behaving like a lamb in front of Aurora and wasn't angry at all. In fact, she was very happy.
There's always someone who could tame another.
She finally found someone who could manage John.
After lunch, John handed Aurora over to Helen. "Mom, take Aurora shopping."
"Sure, no problem." Helen was very willing. "Aurora, do you want to go shopping with me?"
"Sure."
Aurora felt the warmth of motherly love from Helen and was happy to accompany her.
It was said that it was hard for women to get along well with their boyfriends' mothers, but Helen and Aurora got along very well, so Aurora didn't have to worry about this issue.
Watching the two leave, John turned and got into a nearby Maybach.
Sam had been waiting there, with Todd sitting in the back seat.
"Boss, you were a bit reckless today. The Lewis family will definitely be suspicious," Todd reminded.
"The Lewis family has been too quiet lately. It's time to stir things up," John said coldly, "By tomorrow morning, I want to see news of the Wilson Group disappearing from Silvercrest City."
Todd asked, "Does this have anything to do with stirring up the Lewis family?"
"No," John replied nonchalantly, "Aurora was wronged."
John was purely to vent anger for Aurora.
Todd was speechless. He could only blame the Wilson family for their bad luck. Why did they provoke the girlfriend of a big shot?
Wasn't that asking for death?
At this moment, Aurora had no idea that with just one word from John, the senior management of Lewis Group would work overtime to acquire Wilson Group overnight. But that's a story for another time.
Todd leaned back in his seat, looking at John.
"Boss, Miss White isn't a fool. If she dared to confront Ernest, she must have some backing. Even if you didn't go, she might not have been bullied."
Todd had been around Aurora long enough to know that although she seemed powerless, she had an innate charm.
Aurora had managed to thrive despite the difficulties posed by Nicole and Emily, which showed that she was capablehad some skills.
John's eyes narrowed slightly. "With me around, Aurora doesn't need to be too strong."
Otherwise, what was the point of having a boyfriend?
John wasn't looking for an ally to enhance his power but a lifelong partner.
John asked, "How's Rex Lewis doing?"
"I heard Rex is shipping out some goods at the dock tonight," Todd said, "Boss, I think there's something fishy about this shipment."
"Then let's go check it out tonight."
With that, John closed his eyes to rest.
Aurora and Helen had been shopping at the mall and were now too tired to walk.
Helen had bought a lot of things, all for Aurora.
Aurora kept refusing, but Helen was too enthusiastic. It seemed like she wanted to buy out the entire mall.
Aurora didn't know that with Helen's wealth, she really could empty the mall.
Helen had already been very restrained today in front of Aurora.
"Aurora, where do you live? Let's call a car and take all this back."
Aurora hesitated a bit. Her place was too small, and she was afraid Helen would look down on it.
Moreover, John was currently staying there to lay low. If Helen misunderstood that they were living together, Aurora was afraid Helen would think less of her.
But since Helen had asked, it would be impolite not to let her see.
Aurora wasn't stupid. She knew Helen wanted to check out her place.
After a moment of hesitation, Aurora smiled and said, "I'll call a car then."
On the way, the two chatted and laughed. When they arrived at the rental apartment, Helen's smile disappeared.
Seeing Helen's face fall, Aurora felt a bit uneasy. Just as she was about to speak, Helen suddenly got very angry. "How could that brat let you live in such a small place?"
Helen thought, 'One of the bathrooms at our home was bigger than this apartment.'
'Even if John was pretending to be poor, he shouldn't make Aurora suffer.'
Saying this, Helen took out a card, her eyes filled with tears, and said apologetically, "Aurora, I'm so sorry. Take this card and get a bigger place. This apartment is too small to live in."
Aurora was stunned by Helen's generosity since Helenhad given her a bracelet and now a bank card.
This was too much happiness.
Aurora naturally wouldn't take the bank card. She smiled and said, "Helen, this apartment is fine. John also said we should get a bigger place, but I stopped him. The cost of living in Silvercrest City is high. A little but cozy place is enough. The apartment doesn't need to be too big."
These words brought tears to Helen's eyes. She held Aurora's hand and said, "Aurora, you're so sensible. My son is really lucky to have met you."
"I also feel very lucky to meet him," Aurora said with a gentle smile, "Helen, you've been so good to me, making me feel very happy."
These were Aurora's heartfelt words, not flattery.
From Helen's generous actions today, it was clear that John's family was well-off. But that was the result of the previous generation's efforts. She and John couldn't sponge off their parents.
Aurora had accepted John's ordinary status from the beginning and wouldn't change because of his family background.
Helen didn't want to leave. If it weren't getting dark, she would have liked to chat with Aurora more.
As she left, Helen smiled and said, "Aurora, I'll come to see you again tomorrow."
"Okay." Aurora walked Helen to the entrance of the residential complex.
Helen got into a taxi and immediately called her brother, Jerry. "I'm so satisfied with John's girlfriend."
Aurora returned to the apartment, only to receive a call from Daniel.
Seeing the caller ID, Aurora didn't want to answer and directly declined. Daniel then sent a message: [If you don't want me to go to the hospital to find Jack, meet me at Pearl River Dock in half an hour.]
Aurora looked at the strongly worded message on her phone, burning with anger.
Half an hour later, Daniel reached Pearl River Dock.
Under the night sky, the dock was brightly lit.
On a yacht, Daniel had prepared a candlelight dinner, flowers, and gifts.
A taxi arrived at the dock, and Aurora got out.
As soon as Aurora appeared at the dock, Todd, who was watching with binoculars, saw her.
At first, Todd thought he was mistaken. 'What was Aurora doing at the dock so late?'
Todd looked through the binoculars again. It really was Aurora.
