Chapter 182 This Woman is Really Skillful
Aurora would never ignore Dean. He was her dad, after all.
The woman on the phone had a voice that was clearly altered. Emily and Nicole were already in prison, so who else could be against her? Besides Jennifer, she couldn't think of anyone else.
John noticed Aurora's worried look and asked, "What's up?"
"Someone's trying to kill my dad," Aurora said seriously. "John, let me warn you, if it's Jennifer and something happens to him, I won't hold back, no matter what your relationship with her is."
John had just come to see her, and now Dean was in trouble, forcing her to head back to Silver Crest City. If she went back, John would have to go too. Aurora could easily guess who was behind this.
Aurora's rule was simple: treat others as she wanted to be treated. If they wronged her once, she would be patient. If they wronged her again, she would take decisive action..
"Aurora, I'll call Todd and see what's going on," John said, frowning as he realized how serious this was.
While John made the call, Aurora packed her things, getting ready to head back to Silver Crest City.
At that moment, Lori got a call too, looking serious. "Sis, I can't go with you this time. Uncle is in trouble. Ava and I need to go back to headquarters."
"Alright," Aurora said, though she also wanted to go to headquarters, she couldn't. "Lori, call me if anything comes up."
"Sure."
After telling Hank, Lori left with Ava.
John finished his call and said, "Todd said Jennifer's been at the Meadow Brook villa the whole time and hasn't left. I've sent someone to check on The White Family, and we'll get news soon."
"Okay," Aurora said, holding Loren's hand. "Let's go."
The fastest way back to Silver Crest City was by plane. Luckily, John's helicopter was parked nearby, so the three of them drove over first.
The person John sent to The White Family reported back. Dean wasn't home, and the surveillance showed he left with a young woman early in the morning. This meant Dean had been missing for less than an hour.
They only called Aurora once and didn't call again. John tried to track Dean's phone, but it was turned off, so he couldn't trace it. They could only wait for the next call.
Knowing Aurora was in a bad mood, John didn't dare provoke her and focused on flying the helicopter. Aurora stared out the window, lost in thought. John didn't know what she was thinking and was worried, so he secretly signaled Loren to comfort her. Getting angry wasn't good for a pregnant woman.
Loren subtly gave John an OK sign and walked over to Aurora. "Mommy, don't be angry. If you get angry, sister won't be pretty."
Glancing at John, Aurora guessed he had sent Loren to comfort her. It wasn't worth getting upset with John over an outsider.
Aurora said, "I'm not angry."
The most important thing now was to find out who took Dean. She only suspected Jennifer and wasn't really angry, just anxious. If Jennifer really was Fox from The Shadow of Darkness organization, and she was the one who took Dean, then Dean was in grave danger.
Aurora had seen the ruthlessness of Fox from The Shadow of Darkness organization. A woman who had tried to kill her like a maniac and had even tried to bribe Lori to do it. But all of this was just Aurora's speculation.
The helicopter landed at the Meadow Brook villa in Silver Crest City. As soon as she got off, Aurora saw Jennifer, who was smiling and looked as beautiful and elegant as a lotus flower.
"John, Ms. White, you're back."
Jennifer didn't come closer but smiled and asked, "Ms. White, weren't you on vacation? Why'd you come back so soon? Did John pick you up?"
Aurora stared into Jennifer's eyes, putting on a troubled expression. "Yeah, he missed me so much he came to get me in the middle of the night. He's really clingy. Ms. Johnson, when you find a boyfriend, make sure he's not this clingy."
John, who was following behind, walked up to Aurora. "With you and Loren out there, how could I not be worried?"
He was playing along perfectly.
Aurora glanced at John and said, "Give me a car. I need to go to The White Family to check on my dad."
She said this deliberately in front of Jennifer.
"Alright, I'll go with you," John said. He couldn't let Aurora run around and try to save Dean alone, especially with their baby on the way.
"Okay, fine." Aurora didn't refuse and agreed immediately. "I'll just hit the restroom first. You get the car and wait for me at the door."
John went to get the car, and Aurora handed Loren over to Sam, telling him to take Loren to The Robinson family. The Robinson family was at least safe.
After Sam took Loren away, Aurora went to the restroom. Just as she finished washing her hands and was about to leave, she got a call from Dean.
"Dad, are you okay?" Aurora asked nervously.
"Aurora, I'm fine now," Dean said, sounding like he had just survived a dangerous situation. "I don't know what happened. They tied me up and then let me go."
Aurora asked, "Where are you now?"
"Westvale. They dumped me in Westvale and left, just gave me a phone. It's hard to get a cab here, so I had to call you."
Aurora said, "Alright, stay where you are. I'll come get you right away."
Aurora hung up the phone. As she had suspected, the other party was just using Dean to force her to come back. More precisely, to force John back.
Aurora had also deliberately said those things in front of Jennifer to buy some time. She was gambling that the other party didn't really want Dean dead. Because the other party never mentioned a specific location, how could she rescue him?
Their goal was obvious. They wanted John back.
Aurora walked out, and Jennifer was still in the yard trimming flowers, looking like a simple, harmless girl. Aurora stared at Jennifer for a long time. Jennifer, was it really you? Going to such great lengths just to bring John back.
John had already driven the car out. Aurora walked over and got into the driver's seat. "My dad is fine now. I'll go pick him up myself. You stay here."
John immediately understood what Aurora meant. "Alright, be safe."
John stood by the roadside. After watching Aurora leave, he walked towards Jennifer, who was trimming flowers. "Jennifer, let's have a talk."
"Sure," Jennifer said with a faint smile. "John, is something wrong?"
"It's about your abduction by The Shadow of Darkness organization. I want to know more about it," John said. "Recently, they seems to be acting up again. You've had contact with them, so you should know more than we do."
"The Shadow of Darkness organization," Jennifer murmured, her smile fading, and her expression becoming dazed with fear in her eyes. "John, that was the darkest period of my life. Do you want me to recall it?"
"Jennifer, if you don't want to remember, then forget it," John said, his brows furrowing coldly. "I just wanted to ask if you know a woman in The Shadow of Darkness organization who goes by the nickname Fox."
As he asked this, John locked his gaze on Jennifer and secretly used hypnosis on her, a skill he had learned from Gary. With an inducing tone, John asked, "That woman wears a Fox mask and is very beautiful. You must have seen her, right?"
Jennifer's eyes became unfocused, and she answered in a daze, following John's lead, "I am..."
