Chapter 295 Aurora Transforms into Sherlock Holmes
"Sandra, where do you think you're going?"
Lori was the first to rush forward, pinning Sandra down with both hands and swiftly cuffing her.
Everyone was stunned.
Lori was bursting with a sense of justice. This was her first arrest since becoming a cop; before, she had always been following Allan around solving cases, dealing with tedious and boring tasks. This time, she was making an arrest openly and righteously and she was in a great mood.
Lori thought, 'Taking her back, could I get some credit for this? Maybe I would get a promotion and a raise soon.'
The more she thought about it, the more secretly pleased she became.
Sandra struggled, looking innocent and bewildered. "Lori, what are you doing?"
Lori said, "Sandra, stop pretending. Last time at Skyvale Village, you got away. If you escape again this time, I'll write my name backward."
John walked over quickly and questioned sternly, "Where's Loren? Where did you take Loren?"
"Where's Loren?" Summer was also anxious.
Todd and the others immediately went over. Todd said, "Tell us where Loren is. You can't put me in a difficult position."
He was just feeling soft-hearted for a moment because he sympathized with Sandra. If this led to a disaster, it would be catastrophic.
"John, Todd, I don't understand what you're talking about. What happened to Loren?" Sandra feigned innocent and she raised her hand. "Why are you arresting me? Last time, I wasn't trying to catch Loren and Summer. I just saw them on TV and wanted to check on the kids. This is all a misunderstanding."
Lori's eyes widened in shock. "Impressive! Do you think any of us believe you?"
Originally, Loren being kidnapped was a serious matter, but Lori's words made it a bit comical.
Sandra hated Lori's mouth to death; Lori blocked everything she wanted to say.
Sandra pretended to be weak, with a bit of a sob, and said to John, "John, I..." She called out with such tenderness and pity.
Before she could finish, John gave her a cold look. "Shut up!"
In the past, for Jennifer's sake, John had been quite indulgent with Sandra. Now that Jennifer was dead, and Sandra kept causing trouble, he was very displeased.
John approached, his tone cold. "I'll give you one last chance. Where is Loren?"
"I..." Sandra opened her mouth, her eyes watery and pitiful, tears about to fall. She thought any man would feel soft-hearted upon seeing this. This was clearly using her beauty to manipulate.
Lori suddenly spoke, "Are your eyes twitching? Using this trick with a pretty face is called a beauty trap. With your looks, it's just an ugly person causing trouble."
It was truly acid-tongued.
Sandra was so ashamed her face turned red, wishing she could disappear immediately.
Todd couldn't hold back his laughter, and soon Sam and Tyler were also chuckling.
Ava covered her mouth, almost laughing out loud.
John glanced at Lori. The environment indeed had a big impact on people; this acid-tongued skill had a bit of Aurora's style.
Since finding Loren was urgent, John warned coldly, "Sandra, don't follow Jennifer's path."
Hearing this, Sandra's heart trembled. She had known John for so many years, yet he was so ruthless.
"John, I really don't know where Loren is. If I took Loren, why would I show up here?" Sandra said firmly, "I went to the party just to secretly see you. You can ask Todd if you don't believe me."
Todd raised his hand. "I can't vouch for that."
Defending Sandra at this point would be utterly foolish.
"Sam and Tyler, go search." John didn't bother to waste any more words. As long as they found Sandra's car, it would be fine.
Sandra was detained, and the others went to search.
Ten minutes later, they found Sandra's car in the underground parking lot, but no one was inside.
Transferring someone in such a short time was impossible. The hotel's surveillance clearly showed that there was something in Sandra's cart.
John watched the people coming and going at the dock. No ship could leave now, but with such a large area, there were bound to be overlooked spots.
Lori asked, "John, should I take her to the police station first?"
"I didn't take Loren; John, you have to believe me." Sandra argued, "You searched and didn't find Loren. John, you drove Jennifer to her death; do you want to do the same to me? I made some mistakes because I love you, but I don't deserve to die. What evidence do you have that I kidnapped Loren?"
"Take her to the police station." John showed no mercy.
If she hadn't mentioned Jennifer, John might not have sent her in so quickly. Bringing it up made John serious.
Lori escorted Sandra. "Let's go; have some tea at the station and talk slowly."
John had already turned the dock upside down and still didn't find Loren. Todd was sure Sandra hadn't stopped the car midway.
If the person wasn't transferred midway and wasn't at the dock, there was only one possibility: the person might still be at the hotel.
John thought of this and immediately said, "Back to the hotel."
Hotel.
Aurora hadn't returned to the Lewis family mansion; she was waiting for news at the hotel.
Waiting was torturous. Aurora asked the hotel to pull up the surveillance footage again. She didn't know why she felt the need to do this; she just felt it was necessary.
Aurora carefully watched the surveillance footage. In the footage, Sandra first passed by her with a cart, heading towards the new restroom in the hotel.
The second time Sandra appeared on the surveillance was with Todd at the restroom door.
After that, there was footage of Sandra leaving through the back door.
When Aurora looked up at the dozen or so surveillance screens, Sandra appeared in several of them.
Sandra was usually so cautious; why would she be so foolish to expose herself on surveillance repeatedly?
The more Aurora thought about it, the more something felt off. It seemed like Sandra was exposing herself on purpose, trying to lead everyone to discover her. What was her goal?
The more Aurora thought about it, the more terrifying it seemed.
Aurora quickly processed everything she saw on the surveillance and pieced it together in her mind.
Soon, Aurora noticed that from the restroom to the back door, Sandra disappeared for fifteen minutes.
Aurora immediately asked the hotel manager, Jesse Turner, "What is the maximum time required to travel from the restroom to the back door? And the minimum time?"
Jesse thought for a moment and said, "From the restroom to the back door, there's only one exit. Take the elevator down to the first floor, then turn left to go out. It takes at most five minutes."
Sandra did appear in the elevator. Then what did she do with the extra ten minutes?
Aurora urgently said, "Mr. Turner, take me through the route."
"No problem, Mrs. Lewis, this way please." Jesse led the way.
Aurora followed, retracing Sandra's steps as seen on the surveillance.
Taking the elevator down to the first floor, she turned left towards the back door, but she noticed that turning right also led to an exit.
Aurora asked, "Where does this exit lead?"
"That's the kitchen," Jesse said. "Oh, I remember, there's a small door in the kitchen for disposing of kitchen waste."
Hearing this, Aurora immediately strode towards the kitchen and asked a chef, "Did a cleaner come by earlier?"
The chef thought for a moment and said, "Yes."
Aurora asked, "What did they do?"
The chef replied, "They said they were taking out the trash. They went to the back to dump the trash and then left."
