Chapter 86 John Climbs the Fence
Aurora didn't feel any joy when she heard the news; she was actually a bit disappointed.
She had previously tested Dean by asking him to hand over the authority over the company, but he refused.
Now that trouble had come up, Dean knew he couldn't take on Percy. The company was headed for a major hit, maybe even bankruptcy overnight, so he wanted to hand over the management rights to her.
Dean was indirectly looking for the Robinson family to back him up.
Kevin could see Dean's thoughts through, too.
"Aurora, what are you gonna do?"
Aurora thought for a few seconds. "The company has half of my mom's efforts in it. I can't just watch it fall apart."
Dean had counted on this, which was why he came to her.
Kevin nodded, already guessing Aurora's decision. "It's late. Go to your room and get some rest. You've had a tough couple of days."
"Okay."
Aurora left the study. She wasn't very hungry, so she ate a little and then went back to her room.
Loren noticed Aurora seemed preoccupied and sneaked into her bedroom wearing cartoon pajamas.
Seeing Aurora in the bathroom taking a shower, he quietly slipped under the covers, hiding completely.
The bathroom door clicked open, and Aurora came out wrapped in a towel. She immediately saw a lump under the covers, with Loren's little chubby foot sticking out, looking incredibly cute.
"Loren." Aurora couldn't help but laugh and cry at the same time. She walked over and lifted the quilt. Loren rolled on the bed, giggling.
"Sis, I want to sleep here tonight. I can't sleep without you." Loren clung to the blanket, acting spoiled.
Aurora was amused. "Same rules as always. No kicking the blanket. No..."
Loren finished Aurora's sentence fluently, "No taking advantage of you. I know."
Aurora laughed. This little guy always found reasons to stick with her at night, and he was never well-behaved, often rolling into her arms while sleeping.
Loren's flesh was soft and smooth. In fact, with Loren around, Aurora slept more soundly.
Rather than saying Loren clung to her, it was more accurate to say she was becoming increasingly dependent on Loren.
Aurora changed into her pajamas, and Loren quickly hugged her waist, looking up with his rosy little face, smiling brightly at Aurora. "Sis, do you like me?"
"Such a cute Loren. Everyone loves you."
Aurora couldn't help but pinch Loren's cheek, feeling its nice texture. "Go to sleep, you have to go to kindergarten tomorrow."
"Goodnight, sis." Loren giggled and burrowed under the covers.
Aurora was about to turn off the light and go to sleep when her phone on the bedside table rang.
John had sent a message.
When she left work, she deliberately walked quickly to avoid John.
Aurora checked the phone to find a voice message from John. His mellow and charming voice came through the phone.
"Aurora, I can't sleep."
Aurora felt a bit helpless.
Why did this tone of voice sound a bit like Loren's?
Loren suddenly popped out from under the covers. "Sis, is it from Mr. Wheelchair?"
Previously, when John met Loren, he was in a wheelchair, so Loren gave him a nickname.
Aurora replied, "Yes."
"Sis, can I talk to Mr. Wheelchair?" Loren's big blue eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief. "I miss him."
They didn't get along well before, so why did he start missing him now?
Aurora didn't know how to reply, so she handed the phone to Loren.
Loren giggled and directly dialed a video call.
On the other end, John was overjoyed to see a video call from Aurora and immediately answered.
"Aurora..."
"Uncle, it's me." Loren waved at John with a big smile.
When John saw Loren in the video, still on the bed, his face immediately darkened. "Where's your sister?"
John couldn't see Aurora.
This time, John wasn't wearing a mask. Initially, he didn't know it was Loren. Loren looked at John in the video and exclaimed, "Uncle, you're so handsome."
Loren's compliment made John feel much better, and his tone softened. "Good taste. Where's your sister?"
"Sis is sleeping beside me." Loren pointed the phone at Aurora, then snuggled into her arms, looking smugly at John. "Uncle, we're going to sleep now."
In other words, he shouldn't disturb them.
Aurora was amused by Loren. This little guy was clearly trying to annoy John on purpose.
Sure enough, seeing Loren's little face rubbing against Aurora, looking so content, John felt like something that belonged to him was being taken away.
"Let go of your sister. She's mine."
"Hmph, no way. Sis likes me the most. We sleep together every night." Loren got cheeky and waved at John. "Goodnight, uncle. Sweet dreams."
"Little brat..."
"Beep!"
He hung up directly.
Aurora was really amused by Loren.
She didn't reply to John, instead finding the back-and-forth between the two quite interesting.
"Loren, time to sleep."
"Okay." Loren giggled and burrowed under the covers.
Hmph, trying to take my sister away, no chance.
At the Meadow Brook Villa.
After the video call ended, John couldn't sleep.
"Sam, let's go to the Robinson family."
Sam came in from outside and saw John heading to the Robinson family. He quickly said, "Yes, boss. But boss, it's so late. Why are we going to the Robinson family?"
"To pick someone up." John walked quickly with his cane.
If he didn't bring Aurora back tonight, he definitely wouldn't be able to sleep.
Sam quickly realized that Aurora was living in the Robinson family.
"Boss, is it appropriate for us to pick up Miss White this late?"
Late at night, it was indeed inappropriate and hard to explain to Kevin. It would also harm Aurora's reputation.
So, John didn't plan to enter through the front door openly.
When they reached the outer wall of the Robinson family, Sam looked at the 6.5-fee-high wall and asked, "Boss, are we really going to climb over? Your leg isn't recovered yet."
"That's why I brought you." John looked at the ground, and Sam quickly understood, crouching down to serve John as a foothold.
Even with an injured leg, a two-meter wall was no big deal for John. After he climbed over, Sam followed suit.
They stood still, thinking of finding Aurora, but they didn't know which room she was in. Suddenly, two people walked towards them.
It was Kevin and Leo.
Seeing John, both of them were surprised and confused.
Did these two just climb over the wall?
John felt extremely awkward inside. Climbing over a wall and getting caught by Kevin, his lifetime reputation was ruined. But outwardly, John remained calm, showing no sign of embarrassment.
Kevin quickly realized that John, coming in the middle of the night and not through the front door, was definitely not here to see him but to see Aurora.
Kevin cleared his throat, pretending not to see John, and looked up at the night sky. "The moon is really round tonight. Leo, is your sister asleep on the second floor?"
Leo, still confused, instinctively replied, "Yes, she's asleep."
John listened to their conversation, frowning.
Second floor?
Which room on the second floor was Aurora's?
Kevin seemed to read John's mind and asked, "How can I get to your sister's room?"
Leo said, "Third room on the left on the second floor."
"Okay." Kevin nodded. "It's getting late. Let's go to bed early."
Kevin and Leo walked away as if they hadn't seen John.
