Chapter 418 You Didn't Get Drunk. You Just Wanted to Be with Him.
Todd glanced at Lori out of the corner of his eye, his smile growing wider as he casually tugged at his shirt collar.
More of his chest was exposed.
That smooth skin looked so inviting; it made Lori want to reach out and touch it.
Ava, Sam, Tyler, Lachlan, and Gideon all looked at Todd with puzzled expressions.
Todd chuckled, "Man, it's kinda hot!"
It was late at night, with a cool breeze blowing. How could it be hot? Hot? Not at all.
Ava looked at Lori, "You feeling hot, too? Your face is kinda red."
"It's just the fire and the lights," Lori said, touching her face uncomfortably. It was indeed hot.
Todd was definitely a tease, trying to seduce her.
Ava had known Lori for years and understood her well.
She didn't call her out, continuing to eat barbecue and drink.
"Should we send some food to Aurora?"
Lori replied offhandedly, "Nah, if she wants meat, John will bring it to her himself. They might be eating meat together right now."
Lori's voice was just loud enough for everyone to hear.
The group fell silent.
Everyone coughed awkwardly to break the tension.
Only Lori would say something so bluntly.
They were all single, after all.
Lori put down her fruit wine and glanced around, "There's nothing to be embarrassed about. We're all adults here."
Sam raised his hand, "I'm single."
Tyler added, "Me too."
Lachlan blushed, "I've never even held a girl's hand."
Gideon said, "I get nervous talking to girls."
Lori was puzzled, "Then why don't you get nervous talking to me?"
Gideon replied honestly, "I never really thought of you as a girl. I've always seen you as one of the guys."
Lori was speechless.
Todd burst out laughing.
Ava choked on her drink.
Nightfall was full of interesting characters.
Lori shot Todd a sharp look and smiled coldly, "What great friends we have."
Gideon thought Lori was complimenting him and smiled modestly, "Yeah, we're all good friends. Let's have a drink together."
The group fell silent again.
What a character.
Todd expected Lori to lose her temper, but instead, she clinked her bottle with Gideon's, "To good friends, cheers."
Todd felt a pang of jealousy.
The difference in treatment was too much.
Todd glanced at the box of drinks and grabbed a few more bottles, placing them on the table. "Let's drink up. These are from my private stash."
Ava gave Todd a meaningful look. The fruit wine had little alcohol, more like a soft drink.
She couldn't figure out Todd's intention.
If he wanted to get Lori drunk, he should have chosen something stronger. Why pick something so mild?
In the yard, everyone enjoyed their drinks and barbecue.
Inside the house, things were getting steamy.
As soon as Aurora entered the room, John couldn't wait to make love to her.
"I've been holding back for too long."
His deep, husky voice was full of temptation.
It was clear he wanted to enjoy himself.
Indeed, John had been holding back for a while.
This should have happened on the island, but it had been delayed until now.
It had been over half a month. He had waited long enough.
He needed to make love properly to feel satisfied.
Aurora was very cooperative, but at the crucial moment, she hurriedly said, "John, wait, you didn't put on protection..."
Before she could finish, it was too late.
"Let's have a daughter."
Aurora was silent.
Men's words were indeed unreliable.
He had said no more kids, but now he wanted a daughter.
John lay beside her, looking serious, "Our sons always side with you. I need a daughter to back me up during arguments."
It sounded a bit childish.
Aurora couldn't help but laugh. She moved closer, lying in John's arms, "Home is the best."
Aurora remembered something, "Are Summer and Loren safe on the island? The Ironclad Union infiltrated it."
"Don't worry, the mole has been dealt with," John said, lighting a cigarette. "The night we argued, I quickly realized someone in the communication room was contacting the outside."
Aurora's eyes widened, "So, that night, you argued with me on purpose?"
John flicked the ash from his cigarette, "Not entirely. You did need some discipline."
"What are you saying? Think carefully before you speak." Aurora pretended to be angry, grabbing John's neck, "Say it again."
John's deep eyes glanced at Aurora, then settled on her lips, "I said you needed some discipline."
With that, he flipped over, pinning Aurora beneath him, "Time for some more discipline."
"John, can you handle it?" Aurora teased, "Be careful, you might run out of energy."
"If you don't use it when you're young, you won't be able to when you're old."
Indeed, couples often made up in bed.
The group enjoying the barbecue stayed up until nearly dawn before heading to their rooms.
In the middle of the night, Lori woke up needing to use the bathroom. On her way back, she accidentally entered Todd's room, thinking it was hers.
The room was dark, but the layout of the villa was similar enough that she could find the bed by feel.
Lori climbed into bed, wrapping herself in the blanket, "Ava, share the blanket with me. I drank too much, my head hurts."
In the darkness, Todd smiled, "This is my bed, my room."
Lori quickly turned around, her eyes adjusting to the dark enough to make out his face, "Wow, Ava, you've turned into a man."
She reached out and touched his chest, "Flat."
But it felt really good.
Todd grabbed her hand, whispering in her ear, "How was the wine tonight?"
"It had a bit of a kick. I drank too much, um, my head feels fuzzy." Lori cupped Todd's face, "String Bean, did you put something in the wine again? I'm so hot."
"What?"
Todd chuckled, "You'll cool down soon."
...
The next morning.
At dawn.
Lori tiptoed back to her room, barefoot.
Seeing Ava still asleep, she quietly slipped into bed.
Before she could lie down, Ava spoke, "Did you have a midnight snack?"
Lori was silent.
"Ava, you're awake."
"Yeah." Ava sat up, "I haven't slept since you left in the middle of the night. Did you go next door?"
Lori couldn't hide anything from Ava, so she confessed, "I drank too much and went to the wrong room."
Ava looked at her blankly, "That wine is like a soft drink. You could drink a whole case and be fine. You didn't get drunk. You just wanted to be with him."
Lori grinned, "Ava, believe me, I really drank too much. My head is still fuzzy."
"I think you had too much of a midnight snack and got stuffed." Ava crossed her arms, looking at her seriously, "You've slept with him several times, always using the excuse of being drunk. What exactly is your relationship?"
Lori licked her lips, "I'm just a bit attracted to him. But marrying him? I can't bring myself to do it."
Ava summed it up, "You're a player."
"Ava, life is short; we should enjoy it. Why think so much? Is marriage really that great? Why should sex between a man and a woman mean they have to get married? Look at my mom, look at Richard. With examples like that, why would I jump into the marriage trap?"
Lori clenched her fist, "I've decided. As long as String Bean stays loyal to me, I'll take care of him for life."
