Chapter 157 Unexpected Twist
Helen was over the moon; her two beloved kids were actually her grandkids.
Summer and Loren were just the sweetest.
She was a grandma now.
Helen walked quickly, but as she passed a blind spot in the surveillance, she suddenly felt a sharp pain at the back of her head.
Emily was holding a vase and smashed it hard on Helen's head.
Helen felt dizzy and staggered. Before she could turn around to see who it was, several more blows landed on the back of her head. Emily hit Helen several times with all her might, and Helen fell to the ground, a pool of blood forming under her head.
Emily took a step back, scared.
Lying on the ground, Helen was almost out cold, her vision blurry. She could vaguely see a woman in front of her but couldn't make out her features.
"Don't blame me; Aurora made me do this," Emily said, trembling with fear, but her eyes were filled with a burning madness. "All of you like that bitch Aurora and want to help her, but I won't let her have her way."
Emily had overheard Helen's conversation with Ember earlier. She couldn't let the truth about the two kids' parentage come out. She wouldn't let Aurora have an easy life.
Emily put down the vase and tried to snatch the yellow leather bag from Helen's hand.
Even though Helen was almost unconscious, she still clung to the bag instinctively. "No, don't."
"You, let go." Hearing someone approaching, Emily urgently yanked the bag away and ran off.
Ember found his car in the parking lot and was about to leave when a woman suddenly appeared in front of him.
Emily said, "I'll give you some money. You'll forget you've been here today and not say a word to anyone."
Ember was confused, but seeing the bloodstains on the woman's hands and the yellow leather bag in her hand, he was shocked. "That's human blood on your hands! How did you get Mrs. Lewis's belongings? What did you do to Mrs. Lewis?"
As a doctor, he could tell at a glance that it was human blood.
"I just hit her a few times, and she bled a lot," Emily said nonchalantly, then coldly threatened, "If you want to stay alive, keep your mouth shut. Otherwise, if anything happens to Mrs. Lewis, you'll be implicated. I'll say you were in on it with me. You know what the Lewis Family is capable of."
Ember was shocked. "You want me to be your accomplice? I won't..."
"There's a million dollars in here," Emily said, pulling out a card and smirking. "Think carefully. Do you want a million dollars to keep my secret, or do you want to face the Lewis Family's wrath? Think it over."
Emily always believed that there was nothing money couldn't solve. If there was, it just meant the money offered wasn't enough.
Seeing the card, Ember hesitated.
In the banquet hall.
The atmosphere was tense. Sandra was still relentlessly slandering Aurora. "John, Aurora is not pure. She has two kids; you can imagine how messy her private life is. To get into the Lewis Family, she even denied her own children. She's heartless. Don't be fooled by her."
John's eyes were cold. "You dare say one more word, and I'll have you thrown out immediately."
Sandra opened her mouth, but before she could say anything, John shot her a cold glare. She swallowed her words in fear.
The guests whispered among themselves.
What was going on?
Todd scratched his head and muttered, "This is trouble."
Sophia was on edge but kept her mouth shut, worried she might say something that would make things worse for Aurora. She whispered, "Mr. Smith, Mr. Lewis won't leave Aurora, will he?"
If Aurora got publicly dumped, it would haunt her forever. She might never bounce back from that.
Ashley and Kevin were stunned. Were those kids really Aurora's? And they were already so grown up?
Leo suddenly chimed in, "If I had such cute, smart, and brave kids, I'd be smiling in my sleep."
After their last close call, Leo couldn't stop praising Summer. Such an extraordinary kid was a real gem.
Kevin and Ashley shot Leo a look. "Shut up."
Summer and Loren were indeed exceptional, so much so that even adults sometimes felt a bit inferior. But these were Aurora's illegitimate kids. Didn't that mean John was still single but already had two kids?
Kevin was also worried. He really saw Aurora as a daughter. He walked over and said, "Mr. Lewis..."
Kevin wanted to say something supportive.
Before he could finish, John walked over to Aurora and took her hand. In front of everyone's shocked eyes, he slipped a ring onto her finger.
"John," Aurora murmured.
John held Aurora's hand and kissed the back of it, looking every bit the gentleman.
With their fingers intertwined, John smiled and looked around at everyone. "Summer and Loren are Aurora's and my children. We planned to announce this on our wedding day, but since everyone knows now, I won't hide it anymore. Aurora and I have known each other for six years. Summer and Loren are indeed our biological children, carrying the Lewis Family's blood."
This statement caused another uproar.
"No wonder Mr. Lewis is so smitten with Aurora. Turns out they got married because of the kids."
"Look, those kids really do look like Mr. Lewis."
"Well, it seems we have no chance. They already have two kids. And look at how Mr. Lewis looks at Aurora, so doting."
"I think that woman is just jealous of Ms. White and wanted to cause trouble."
"Isn't it obvious?"
"Really sinister."
"Shameless."
"Ms. White is now secure in her position with those two sons."
"Exactly, with those two sons, Aurora will live a life of wealth and honor."
These waves of news were really overwhelming for anyone without strong mental fortitude.
Summer and Loren were completely dumbfounded, looking adorably confused.
Aurora was their Mommy! JohnBoss Lewis wasbecame their Daddy! Could they get some time to absorb this?
Todd had to admire John. He had gone to great lengths to win Aurora, even acknowledging the kids. What a story.
Aurora was deeply moved. How could she deserve such protection from John?
"John," Aurora's eyes welled up.
"Daddy, Mommy," Loren suddenly called out sweetly, his cuteness overwhelming. He put his hands to his mouth and shouted, "Kiss, kiss."
Todd and Summer were a bit surprised by Loren's words.
Then the whole crowd joined in.
"Kiss, kiss..."
Caught up in the atmosphere, Todd whistled. "Boss, kiss, kiss."
Even Sam and Tyler were shouting, "Kiss, kiss."
Aurora blushed deeply. Seeing her flush, John smiled. He wrapped his arm around Aurora's waist and said, "Ms. White, everyone is watching, and it's our son's request, so don't blame me."
Upon finishing speaking, John kissed Aurora on the lips, giving her a romantic French kiss.
The crowd cheered. "Mr. John Lewis is awesome."
Sandra was about to explode with anger. How could this happen? Why wasn't anything going according to plan?
