Chapter 391: A Perfect Match
John's eyes were full of affection for Aurora, looking as if he was afraid of her, making Aurora both amused and exasperated.
"Can't you speak with the same authority you have at the company or when leading the Nightfall team?"
"They're not the same as you." John leaned back against the headboard and lit a cigarette.
Aurora rested her chin on his chest, her fingers tracing lazy circles "Honey, I want to see you be a bit more domineering, a bit fiercer, and a bit colder."
This was clearly asking for trouble.
John's deep eyes narrowed as he looked at Aurora. "Wasn't I imposing enough just now? Babe, shall we go again?"
Aurora blushed.
"A man's dominance and skills are not meant to be used on his own woman." John pinched Aurora's chin, a wicked smile playing on his lips. "Aurora, if you're bored of this, we can try something else next time, like role-playing, or even outdoors..."
"Stop." Aurora quickly covered John's mouth with her hand, laughing awkwardly. "I think this is just fine."
She already felt like her waist was about to break. If they went outdoors, she might end up "dying in the wilderness."
The soft orange light smoothed out John's sharp features, making his face look gentler. His eyes were like a starry sky, bright and sparkling.
In those eyes, she saw her reflection.
Aurora couldn't resist reaching out to touch John's nose. His nose was straight and high. God must have been partial to John; while others had imperfections, John's were flawless.
John grabbed Aurora's wandering hand and kissed it. "Aurora, you're tempting your husband to commit a crime."
"John, you're so good to me that many people are envious and jealous." Aurora laughed. "They say behind my back that I'm just a daughter of the White family, relying on the Robinson family, and that I'm not worthy of you. You're rich, powerful, and handsome, yet you don't look at other women, only revolving around me, spoiling and indulging me."
Hearing this, John laughed. "Your awareness is high; my efforts haven't been in vain. The more they gossip behind your back, the more jealous they are. Other people's opinions don't matter; don't pay attention to them. But you, heartless as you are, know my feelings for you, yet you teamed up with our sons to try to punish me."
"Didn't you just punish me?" Aurora muttered softly.
John's smile deepened. "Without some punishment, I can't control you."
Aurora's expression changed. "What did you say?"
John wisely changed his words. "I mean, serve you."
Aurora shifted, snuggling into John's arms. "The boys wanted to play, so I went along with them. This house has been suppressed for too long."
First, Jax was kidnapped, then Helen was tragically killed. The Lewis family hadn't had laughter for a long time.
Life moves forward, not backward.
They couldn't let the children be trapped in past sorrows.
John stroked Aurora's hair, his voice hoarse. "Life will get better and better."
"Yes!" Aurora looked up at John. "By the way, I invited everyone over for dinner tomorrow night to liven up the house. Summer and Loren are going to the island, so everyone can gather together."
"Alright, you handle it."
"Oh, and one more thing, Jack wants to go to the island with us. Is that okay?"
"Jack wants to go?" A strange light flashed in John's eyes.
"Yes, I said I'd discuss it with you. The Nightfall training base is not somewhere I can take people without permission." Aurora replied. "Jack is just curious. If it's a problem, I'll tell him no tomorrow."
"It's fine!"
Aurora glanced at John.
John repeated, "Really, let him come along. It's no problem. By the way, where's Lori? We need to let her know we're going to the island."
"Why tell Lori?" Aurora sensed something was up and sat up. "Lori used to be with Wolfpack and now has her own team with Ava. If they ever clash with Nightfall, are you sure you want to show her the base?"
"Nightfall is short on people now."
With this one sentence, Aurora instantly understood and laughed. "You want to recruit Lori and Ava."
"How is that trickery? It's an invitation."
"I know you too well, always scheming." Aurora lay back down. "Lori and Todd have a thing going on. She definitely won't want to join Nightfall and be under the same roof as Todd. But I have to say, I'm quite surprised. After Lori and Todd got together, he seemed like a different person, always demanding Lori take responsibility."
John's eyes held a smile. "Even the most committed bachelors have their moments of enlightenment. Many women wanted to be with Todd before, but none succeeded."
Aurora asked instinctively, "Then why did Lori succeed?"
John chuckled, his voice full of meaning. "Think about it carefully."
"Is it because Lori is too fierce? Or is Todd..." Aurora suddenly got it and snorted. "You Nightfall people are all cunning. You look honest on the surface but are full of tricks. My sister and I were both tricked into your hands."
The more Aurora thought about it, the more she wanted to get back at him.
Suddenly, an idea struck her, and she smiled sweetly. "Honey, I just remembered how great you in a bikini. You danced the tango well at Grandpa's birthday party. If you danced in a bikini, you'd definitely steal the show."
John sensed danger and quickly spoke, "Aurora, you must be hungry after all that exercise. I'll go downstairs and get you something to eat."
With that, he got out of bed and made a quick escape.
Aurora laughed under the covers.
"Do you really think you can get away? Lori is still thinking about your exotic dance."
When life got dull, she needed something to spice it up.
Aurora got up early to prep for the evening.
This time, Aurora invited many people: the Robinson family, the White family, and Allan.
This meal was also meant to be a thank-you dinner.
Aurora also invited Calla, who had helped before. Calla was flattered and brought gifts, arriving in the afternoon.
Sophia came over to help after lunch, and Ashley arrived early too.
Knowing her son was pursuing Sophia, Ashley, although feeling her son was asking for trouble, couldn't bear to see him keep hitting a wall and decided to help.
Ashley decided to get on good terms with her potential future daughter-in-law. Initially, she thought Sophia was a spoiled and difficult socialite.
But after spending time together, Ashley grew very fond of Sophia, even thinking her son wasn't good enough for her and wanting to adopt Sophia as her daughter.
Leo noticed something was off and quickly pulled Ashley aside. "Mom, you can't just adopt every girl you meet. Don't you want grandkids or your son to get married?"
Ashley laughed. "Leo, I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. But I really think you're not good enough for Sophia. You're worlds apart."
Leo was speechless.
"Mom, am I even your real son? I'm handsome and charming. Sophia is sweet and cute. We're a perfect match."
