Chapter 248 Aurora found out that Alexander was responsible for Matthew's death.
Aurora was puzzled. After John went to the hospital to see Helen, she felt quite uneasy at home.
Aurora couldn't stand it any longer, and just as she was thinking of visiting Dean at the hospital, she received a call from Chris.
Chris had been discharged from the hospital and asked to meet her at a café, saying he had something to discuss.
Aurora had Lachlan to drive her there. When they arrived at the café, she had Lachlan sit at the next table, ordering a cup of coffee while waiting for her.
Chris glanced at Lachlan and then at Aurora, his tone tinged with sarcasm. "Ms. White is really cautious."
Aurora corrected him, "Mr. Harris, call me Mrs. Lewis now."
Chris called her Ms. White, perhaps because, deep down, he still considered Aurora to be single.
"Well, congratulations, Mrs. Lewis." Chris instantly felt a wave of depression. After all, no matter how much he didn't want to admit it, John and Aurora's marriage certificate was posted that everyone could see.
John's actions were a public declaration that Aurora was his wife, and all other men should back off.
"Mr. Harris, why did you ask me to come here?" Aurora got straight to the point.
Chris took a sip of his coffee and said, "Please release Emily and write a letter of understanding to get her out early."
Aurora paused for a moment. "Mr. Harris, did I hear you correctly?"
"You heard me correctly." Chris put down his coffee and looked at Aurora. "I'm here to ask for a favor."
Aurora raised an eyebrow. "Your father asked you to do this?"
It wasn't hard to guess. After all, Aurora had previously said in front of Percy that unless Chris came, she wouldn't consider it.
Emily was a dangerous woman. No one knew if she had truly repented. Releasing her would be a potential risk.
Chris said, "This is my chance to regain my father's approval. I hope Mrs. Lewis can help me."
"Can't you ask for something else?" Aurora frowned. "This really puts me in a difficult position. Emily hurt my mother-in-law. I owe you a favor, and I will repay it with what I can do or have, but as for Emily, I can't make this decision for my mother-in-law."
"You can influence John, and that's enough." Chris hit the nail on the head.
Aurora sneered, "You're asking me to put my husband in a position of disloyalty and unfiliality?"
"I know what you're worried about. Emily has learned her lesson this time. No matter how foolish she is, she won't trouble you again." As Chris said, he gave a satirical smile. "Even the dumbest person would have learned by now after being imprisoned for so long. I'm just trying to be a good son this time and make my father happy."
"Aren't you afraid that once Emily is out, she'll fight you for the Harris family assets?"
"She's just a woman. She has no right to touch the foundation of the Harris family. I just need to give her some small money, and it's like giving alms to a beggar, doing charity."
Aurora pondered in silence, and Chris didn't say more, giving her time to think.
After a while, Aurora said, "I can only promise you that I'll ask my mother-in-law later. If she agrees, then the letter of understanding can be written. If she doesn't, then there's nothing I can do."
"Mrs. Helen Lewis is still in a coma in the hospital. Are you sure you're not just fooling me?"
"Just an hour ago, my mother-in-law regained consciousness."
"Alright, then I'll wait for your feedback."
Aurora didn't talk to him anymore as she directly stood up to leave the café, and after getting in the car, she told Lachlan, "Go to the hospital."
Helen coming out of a coma was a big deal. As her daughter-in-law, Aurora had no choice but to visit.
At the same time, she felt a bit uneasy about John's secrecy. What could John be hiding from her?
Aurora later thought that sometimes it' was better not to be too curious. If she had known what she would hear at the hospital, she wouldn't have gone.
After Helen woke up, her consciousness was still a bit unclear. Gary gave her another check-up.
Miraculously, after being hit by Jennifer, Helen remembered everything.
Helen's consciousness gradually cleared then she grabbed John's hand and said excitedly, "John, are you okay? I heard from Jennifer that you were arrested."
Helen's memory stopped at the moment she was hit.
John smiled, "Mom, I'm fine. You've been in a coma for almost a month."
"A whole month? That went quite fast." Helen's head still hurt a bit as she raised her hand to touch it and said, "By the way, John, Summer and Loren are the Lewis family's children. I did a paternity test for you. They are your sons." Talking about this, Helen was very happy. "John, you did a great job, giving me two grandsons at once."
"Mom, there's even better news." John said, "Aurora is pregnant with twins. Soon, you'll have two more granddaughters."
"Really." Helen clapped her hands in joy. "This nap was worth it. Two more granddaughters. It feels like a dream. By the way, why didn't Aurora come?"
Helen was still quite optimistic.
"She's resting at home. I didn't let her come."
"Let her rest more. Carrying twins must be tiring. You should treat Aurora well and marry her soon."
"Mom, we've already registered our marriage." John deliberately mentioned their marriage registration. "When you recover, you can help us plan the wedding."
"No problem, leave it to me. I'll make sure to make it a grand wedding." As Helen said, she suddenly remembered being injured by Jennifer and became very serious. "John, your father's car crash back then wasn't an accident. I heard Jennifer talking on the phone with someone. She said that it was planned by them. I remember now, Jennifer seemed to be talking to her father. Wait, isn't she an orphan? How did she suddenly have a father?"
John was worried that Helen would remember this, which was why he insisted on coming himself and not letting Aurora come.
John said, "Mom, you’re probably still a bit out of sorts from the coma. Jennifer is an orphan. You might be mistaken. Dad has been gone for so long. You should let it go."
"No, I'm not mistaken. Your father's car accident wasn't an accident. John, you need to investigate this. Your father was killed by Jennifer and her father. You need to find out who Jennifer's father is and seek justice for your father. He can't die so unjustly."
Helen's words were like a heavy blow, hitting John hard. As a son, seeking justice for his father was his responsibility.
But that person happened to be Aurora's biological father, Alexander, which was why John hadn't taken action.
Yet he didn't know that Aurora, who had just arrived at the hospital room door, also heard Helen's words.
John's father was killed by Alexander?
What kind of absurd plot was this?
She must have watched so many ridiculous TV dramas that she had such a hallucination. How could there be so many coincidences?
Aurora thought to herself this way in comfort, but her feet felt as heavy as lead, unable to move.
John's cold voice came from the room. "Mom, I'll investigate thoroughly. Don't get too agitated. I promise you, I'll seek justice for Dad."
He definitely wouldn't investigate, as it was just a comfort to Helen. Aurora wasn't stupid. Thinking back to John's recent odd behavior, she figured it out.
John's urgency to register their marriage, his strange reactions when she mentioned Alexander, and his attempts to stop her from visiting Helen, all these clues pointed to one answer.
John's dad, Matthew's death was definitely related to Alexander, and John had known about it for a long time.
Aurora felt conflicted and didn't know how to face Helen. She turned and walked out of the hospital.
Lachlan, who had just parked the car and come over, saw Aurora leaving and asked, "Mrs. Lewis, weren't you here to see Auntie Helen? Why are you leaving?"
Lachlan's voice was just loud enough for John to hear.
Aurora was here?
John's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly ran out of the room to chase her.
