Chapter 447 The Most Poisonous Man's Heart
The surveillance camera showed Dean going in, but not coming out.
Aurora sensed something was wrong and quickly returned to the room, finding Dean tied up in the bathroom.
Dean was thrilled to see Aurora.
Dean had a dirty sock stuffed in his mouth, preventing him from speaking.
Aurora and Wendy untied Dean, and Wendy scolded him, "How did you end up getting tied up by Jack?"
"Who knew that kid would come after me?" Dean felt aggrieved. "Last night, I woke up needing to use the bathroom. I heard some noise and went to check it out. As soon as I walked in, that kid tied me up."
Aurora said, "Talking about it now won't help. Jack's run off, and finding him will be difficult."
Aurora was anxious because they still hadn't figured out what had been injected into Lori.
Samuel, upon hearing that Jack had escaped, said worriedly, "This is trouble."
Alexander added, "Jack running off is definitely bad news. Do you think he might go after John?"
John?
Aurora quickly called John to inform him about Jack's escape.
John seemed unsurprised, as if he had anticipated it. He simply said, "Alright, got it."
With Jack gone, Aurora had no reason to stay at the White Villa. She first returned to the Lewis Villa to check on Trey and Jax, then headed to the hospital to see Lori.
She needed to monitor Lori's health closely.
When Aurora arrived at the hospital, she found Bruce and Melissa visiting Todd, and Amelia had brought Daniel along.
Seeing Aurora reminded Daniel of the embarrassing things he had said while drunk, making him avoid eye contact.
Now sober, Daniel deeply regretted his drunken complaints about his unhappy marriage, and the video of Aurora kicking him into the pool had been bought by Amelia to save his dignity.
Since marrying Emily, Daniel's life had been a mess, and marrying Amelia had only made things worse.
A second marriage was never as good as the first, and the first was never as good as the first love.
Amelia's temper flared upon seeing Aurora, and noticing Daniel's guilty look, she couldn't hold back: "Feeling guilty? If not, why can't you look her in the eye? Daniel, if you embarrass me again, I'll kick you."
Amelia's temper had worsened since having a child.
Daniel cowered, "Amelia, I didn't sleep well last night. It's not that I can't look at her."
Bruce, seeing Daniel's pitiful state, intervened, "Amelia, we're in public. You should control your temper and respect your husband's dignity."
Amelia muttered, "Dignity is earned, not given. He embarrassed himself and dragged me down with him."
Daniel was like a misbehaving child who needed constant supervision.
Daniel missed his first love while still thinking about his ex-wife, which Amelia couldn't tolerate.
Daniel hung his head, looking like a beaten dog.
Aurora was surprised to see Daniel like this; it was nothing like the Daniel she knew.
At that moment, Todd, who had been playing with bubbles, spoke up, "Fairy, they're so noisy. I don't like it. Can you make them leave?"
Todd was good at being cute, shaking Lori's hand.
Lori didn't respond, just glanced at Amelia, Bruce, and Melissa.
Melissa said, "Todd is fine here. Let's leave and not disturb Todd and Ms. Hernandez. Ms. Hernandez, thank you for taking care of Todd. His father and I are very busy, so we'll leave him with you."
Lori waved them off, "Go on, go."
She didn't expect much from Bruce and Melissa.
Bruce and Melissa left with Amelia and Daniel. At the hospital entrance, Bruce and Melissa parted ways with Amelia.
Daniel eagerly opened the car door for Amelia, who sat inside like a proud peacock. "You saw my brother's condition. Whether he recovers is uncertain. I'm now the Smith family's heiress, and the family will be mine."
Bruce indeed spoiled Amelia, and Daniel was constantly under her thumb because of it.
With Todd incapacitated, the Smith family inheritance would likely fall to Amelia.
Daniel smiled and took Amelia's hand, "My wife is about to get lucky. If the Smith family falls into your hands, I'll be happy for you."
"My status will rise, and you'll benefit too." Amelia warned, "Daniel, if you keep being unfaithful, I'll replace you. Don't say I didn't warn you. The Taylor family is nothing in Silvercrest City. If you upset me, I'll make sure the Taylor family suffers."
There's a big difference between a top-tier family and a first-tier family.
Daniel's background wasn't impressive, and he hadn't achieved much since taking over the Taylor family business, causing dissatisfaction within the company.
Even if Daniel was unhappy, he couldn't afford to anger Amelia.
"Sweetheart, you're the most important thing to me," Daniel said, kissing Amelia and starting to flirt in the car.
Women are vulnerable to such advances.
Amelia's anger subsided, and they started making love in the car in broad daylight.
Afterward, Daniel drove Amelia to the mall for shopping.
As soon as Amelia left, Jimmy called, "Daniel, is Amelia not with you?"
"No, I just dropped her off at the mall. She's meeting friends for shopping."
"Good," Jimmy said. "I got the medicine you asked for. Come pick it up and make sure Amelia takes it without her knowing."
"Alright, I'm on my way."
After hanging up, Daniel glanced coldly at the mall. As a man, he couldn't stand being dominated by a woman.
At the hospital.
Todd was playing with bubbles at the table, while Lori looked exhausted. Aurora asked with concern, "You look terrible. Are you feeling unwell?"
Lori joked, "Just tired from taking care of my son."
"I'm serious. Do you still feel nauseous?"
"No," Lori said. "Just very tired. Aurora, I want to nap. Can you watch String Bean for me?"
Lori fell asleep instantly, which worried Aurora even more. Todd, seeing Lori asleep, snuggled up next to her and fell asleep too.
Aurora went to the hallway to call Gary and report Lori's condition.
Gary sounded worried, "It seems worse than I thought. Aurora, keep an eye on her. I'll work on the medicine as fast as I can."
"Okay."
After the call, Aurora felt uneasy. She went to the bathroom to wash her face. When she looked up, Jack's face suddenly appeared in the mirror, startling her.
