Chapter 450 The Appraisal Results Are Out

John quickly walked over to Aurora. "Aurora, who was that guy just now?"

John had only seen a man's silhouette from a distance.

"I don't know him, but he seemed familiar. He followed me all the way here, and I have no idea what his intentions were," Aurora said, puzzled. "He claimed he meant no harm."

John glanced in the direction the man had left. "Let's go upstairs first."

John led Aurora to the elevator. As the doors closed, the man emerged from around the corner, staring intently at the elevator.

In the CEO's office.

Aurora felt a bit unwell. As soon as she entered the office, she said, "Babe, can you make me some lemon water? My stomach feels off, and I need to cleanse it."

"Sure thing," John immediately prepared a cup of lemon water with honey for her.

"Why do you feel sick all of a sudden?"

"I must have eaten something bad. My stomach feels greasy, and I felt nauseous on the way here, especially with the smell of gasoline," Aurora said, lying on the couch with her legs resting on John's lap.

John glanced at Aurora's legs, his gaze traveling upward. His voice turned low and seductive. "Aurora, you're teasing me."

Aurora choked on her lemon water. She hadn't meant to tease John, but her position did suggest otherwise.

"Stop being inappropriate..."

Aurora put down her cup and tried to sit up, but John suddenly embraced her, pinning her beneath him.

"I can't be serious around you."

Aurora laughed, turning her head to the side. "You're getting more shameless."

John brushed a strand of hair from Aurora's forehead. "Aurora, life is so dull. We need to do something meaningful to pass the time, don't you think?"

Aurora seriously considered it for a moment and nodded in agreement. "You're right. How about you do a striptease for me?"

John replied with a straight face, "I can take off my clothes for other things, but not for dancing. Aurora, my specialty isn't tango; it's... the most primal dance."

The most primal...

Aurora's cheeks flushed. She pretended not to understand. "Such profound words, I don't get it."

"It's okay if you don't understand. I'll demonstrate for you later."

With that, John shamelessly wrapped his arms around Aurora's waist, pulling her close. Just as he was about to caress her, Sam burst in.

"Mr. Lewis, the test results are in..."

Sam didn't finish his sentence. Seeing the scene in the office, he was stunned into silence.

John shot him a cold glare, and Sam quickly turned around and closed the door.

Sam's survival instincts were strong.

Aurora hid shyly in John's arms, playfully hitting him. "Get up."

Their position was suggestive, to say the least.

It was broad daylight, and she felt embarrassed.

The mood was ruined. John, looking frustrated, called out, "Come in."

Sam entered nervously, keeping his head down, not daring to look directly. "Mr. Lewis, the test results are in. I'm here to deliver the report."

Sam stood there, bracing himself. If he had known Aurora was there, he wouldn't have interrupted John.

"What test?" Aurora sat up.

"It's the paternity test for Karolyn and your father," John said, giving Sam a look.

Sam immediately handed over the test results.

Aurora was surprised. "You did a paternity test for Karolyn and Alexander?"

John's intention quickly dawned on Aurora.

"Could Karolyn be..."

It seemed impossible, too unbelievable.

Aurora had suspected something was off with Karolyn, but hadn't considered this possibility.

As John opened the envelope, he said, "Nothing is impossible. With today's advanced cosmetic surgery, women can become men, and men can become women. There's nothing that can't be done..."

He trailed off, staring at the results in shock. "How can this be?"

Aurora peeked at the results, which showed no relation between Karolyn and Alexander.

John's expression darkened. He looked at Sam. "Are you sure there's no mistake?"

"No mistake. I stole hair from Mr. Johnson last night and rushed it to the lab. I delivered it myself," Sam confirmed.

John frowned, deep in thought.

Aurora suggested, "Maybe we were wrong?"

John shook his head. "I met Karolyn in person. She... definitely has something to hide."

Sam proposed, "Mr. Lewis, should we do another test?"

Just then, Aurora's phone rang. She glanced at the caller ID, her expression serious. "It's Karolyn."

Karolyn's call at this time was suspicious.

John said, "Answer it."

Aurora nodded and answered the call calmly. "Hey, Karolyn. What's up?"

"Aurora, I'm alone at the hospital. It's really inconvenient. My ex-husband just argued with me and left. Can you come to the hospital and help me?" Karolyn's voice was tearful.

Aurora had no obligation to help Karolyn, but remembering John's words, she smiled and agreed. "Sure, I'll come over after I finish up here."

"Aurora, thank you so much."

After hanging up, John objected. "This is a trap. You can't go."

"Don't worry. I'll go meet her. Just lend me Sam," Aurora said. "Honey, instead of avoiding it, let's take the initiative."

John knew Aurora's personality. "Sam, you must stay with her at all times."

"Yes, Mr. Lewis. Don't worry, with me there, no one will harm Mrs. Lewis."

With that decided, Aurora and Sam headed to the hospital where Karolyn was staying.

On the way, Aurora called Alexander. "Alexander, I need to ask you something. Does Sandra have any distinguishing features?"

Alexander was puzzled by the question. "Sandra is allergic to peanuts. Why do you ask?"

"Just curious. Thanks."

Aurora hung up and, passing a restaurant, told Sam, "Buy some food. Make sure every dish has peanut sauce."

"Yes, Mrs. Lewis."

After packing the food, they continued to the hospital.

In the hospital room, Karolyn was alone, wiping her tear-streaked face.

Seeing Aurora, Karolyn immediately started complaining. "Aurora, they're so mean. My ex-husband's current partner came and insulted me, calling me a homewrecker. When I met my ex, she wasn't even in the picture. How dare she talk to me like that?"

Karolyn's words were meant to elicit Aurora's sympathy.

Unexpectedly, Aurora said, "You and your ex are divorced, yet you're still entangled with him because of the baby. That does seem like a homewrecker's behavior."

Karolyn was stunned. "Aurora, why are you siding with them?"

"I'm not done. But you're also giving them a taste of their own medicine. Well done, Karolyn. I support you. Women who don't know their place deserve to be put in their place."

Aurora's words had a double meaning, but Karolyn didn't catch on and thought Aurora was on her side.

Aurora took out the food she brought. "You must be hungry. I bought this for you. Eat up and get some nutrition."

Each dish had a small amount of peanut sauce, as Aurora was still mindful of Karolyn's pregnancy.
