Chapter 309: "That's enough, don't push your luck."
"How is this possible?" John explained, "Todd is absolutely normal in that regard. He's usually just a slacker, and he has some family ties with Allan. Technically, they're brothers."
Just distant relatives.
Aurora suddenly understood and laughed, "Looks like Lori got tricked again. She now firmly believes Todd and Allan are in that kind of relationship. Lori agreed to work at the police station because of Allan's looks. Todd probably tricked her because of that."
But why would Todd care who Lori likes?
That's a bit confusing.
John commented, "An outsider sees things more clearly."
And as outsiders, they just need to watch, not interfere too much.
Aurora chuckled, "Then Todd is in trouble. Lori's very decisive, and she loves checking out good-looking guys. She even chose an office near the sports field. And I must say, the guys out there do have great bodies."
"How do you know?" John asked jealously.
"I've seen them," Aurora laughed as she got up from John's lap. "Lori dragged me to see them. Their bodies are amazing, with muscles and abs. They must feel great to touch."
John was very jealous, "You want to touch them?"
"Just thinking," Aurora laughed awkwardly. "Everyone appreciates beauty."
John stood on one leg, hopping back to the bed, lying down with a look that said, "I'm mad, come comfort me."
John lay with his back to Aurora, looking so angry, just like Loren.
Aurora spoke helplessly, "John, is it necessary?"
"You've already cheated emotionally." John replied, fuming.
"Why are you so easily jealous?" Aurora asked.
John turned over, lying flat, glancing at Aurora with a clear hint.
"Alright," Aurora walked over to kiss John on the cheek, saying sweetly, "You are my everything. Without you, I don't know how I'd live. All the other guys don't matter. It's my eyes that want to look, my hands that want to touch. It's not really me who wants that."
John looked at Aurora, "Is this how you act when admitting you're wrong?"
Aurora patted John's chest, "John, that's enough. Don't push it."
John knew when to stop, sat up, hugged Aurora, and smiled slyly, "Aurora, you said you saw Jack earlier. That means Richard should also be in Silvercrest City."
"If Sandra can come, it's not surprising that Richard is in Silvercrest City," Aurora uttered worriedly. "I just don't get why Jack ran away when he saw me. He doesn't even want me anymore. He just took off with this guy he suddenly thinks is his dad, without saying a word or contacting me. If he hadn't shown up today, I would have thought he was dead."
That last part was purely out of anger from Aurora.
"Where did you see Jack? I'll have Sam and Tyler look for him."
"Cherry Street," Aurora replied. "If I weren't in this condition, I would have caught up with him."
The C-section scar still hurt, and Aurora couldn't handle intense activities like running.
"Don't worry, I'll have Sam and Tyler check it out," John cooed, hugging Aurora tighter. "Honey, we should go to sleep."
"Be serious, no funny business," Aurora order, turning off the light.
"A kiss is okay, right?"
"John, stop it..."
Lori had a bit of insomnia tonight.
If she ran into Richard, what should she do?
"Ava, I'm going to the training room to work out." Lori told Ava.
"Okay, I'll sleep first." Ava knew Lori was in a bad mood. If she didn't vent, it would be a problem.
Lori went to the training room, and Ava was about to sleep when her phone suddenly rang. It was an unfamiliar number. She usually didn't answer unknown numbers.
But since joining the force, there were often unfamiliar numbers, usually colleagues from the station. Ava thought it might be a colleague and answered.
"This is Ava."
"Ava, it's me," said a middle-aged man's voice on the other end.
Ava's spirit lifted, and her expression became serious, "Mr. Lee?"
"It's me!" Richard was at an abandoned factory in the suburbs, looking towards the city center. "Ava, it's time for you to repay me for raising you."
"I can't help you anymore. Lori and I are working at the police station now. You'd better not show up in front of me."
Otherwise, it would be difficult for her.
Deep down, Ava hoped Richard would never appear again.
But to honor her police uniform, she had to bring him to justice.
Hearing that Ava and Lori had joined the police, Richard was furious, "Are you two out of your minds? Do you not know what you used to do?"
"Mr. Lee, Lori and I want to live normal lives," Ava explained. "Don't go looking for Lori. You know her personality. Even if you're her biological father, she won't show mercy."
"So, you both know." Richard sneered, "You two are something else. Ava, I need you to do something for me. You can refuse, but I'll just go to Lori instead."
Ava's vulnerability was Lori. They were closer than sisters.
"Tell me!" Ava had no choice but to give in.
"At the abandoned factory."
After Richard finished speaking, he hung up the phone, and Jack appeared in his sight.
Richard questioned Jack, "Why did it take you so long?"
"Ran into some trouble on the way," Jack didn't mention meeting Aurora. "Dad, I delivered the goods you asked me to."
"Jack, well done," Richard praised. "You're truly my son."
Just then, a car approached.
Jack became alert, "Dad, have we been discovered?"
"Don't worry, it's an old friend."
Richard walked down, and a black car stopped in the open space of the abandoned factory.
A man in black clothes got out of the car. It was Oren from The Shadow of Darkness organization.
After Sandra was captured, Oren had been trying to find a way. John and Aurora were determined to make Sandra pay, so he had to rely on himself.
"Mr. Lee," Oren's voice was hoarse, and the scar on his lip looked even more menacing.
"I'm just a fallen man. It's your young people's world now," Richard said. "Women can't achieve great things. The Shadow of Darkness organization will surpass Nightfall under your leadership one day."
"Mr. Lee, no need for modesty," Oren spoke directly. "Tell me, how will you help me rescue Ms. Johnson?"
