Chapter 310: The First Kiss Was Stolen
Richard's escape from prison showed his capability. If he wasn't valuable, Oren wouldn't have sought him out.
But Richard isn't someone easy to deal with.
Richard replied, "I've got everything arranged. I just need you to lend me a few dozen men, and I guarantee we'll get Sandra out."
Oren gave Richard a skeptical look, thought for a moment, and then agreed, "Alright!"
Everyone has a weakness. Oren's gaze fell on Jack: "I'll lend you my men, but I'm short-handed too. I wonder if Mr. Lee could lend me this young man for a few days."
This wasn't borrowing; it was clearly taking Jack as a hostage to control Richard.
"Who's a young man?" Jack couldn't stand that, "Look closely, I'm already twenty, not a kid anymore."
Oren wasn't much older than Jack, but Oren had been in the game longer. How long had Jack been around?
In Oren, Jack was just a wet-behind-the-ears kid.
Oren didn't take Jack seriously and looked at Richard: "Mr. Lee, you can't bear to part with him?"
"Of course not. We're partners now, helping each other out is only right." Richard pushed Jack in front of Oren: "Jack, follow him and learn."
Richard secretly winked at Jack. Jack trusted Richard completely and naturally didn't think his father would harm him or use him as a hostage. To Jack, this was enduring humiliation for a greater cause, and Richard was training him.
Jack obediently agreed, "Okay, Dad."
The word "Dad" surprised Oren for a moment, then he laughed: "So this young man is Mr. Lee's son."
With Richard's son in hand, would Richard dare disobey?
Jack proudly replied, "I am Richard's son."
"Mr. Lee, congratulations, you have a successor." The smile in Oren's eyes deepened; turns out he was a fool.
Richard was speechless.
He wanted to stop Jack from admitting it, but it was too late.
Richard had done a paternity test to confirm Jack was his child; otherwise, he wouldn't be willing to acknowledge such a foolish son.
Jack grew up with Aurora, so how did he not pick up any of her smarts?
If he didn't have Aurora's brains, it would be good if he had half of Lori's strength.
But Jack was a sickly child. The previous surgery was successful, but he was still not like a normal person, with limited physical endurance.
Jack couldn't do much besides carrying on the family line.
Richard politely uttered, "Jack doesn't get a lot of things. I hope Mr. Schneider can guide him."
At Meadowbrook Villa.
In the training room, Lori had been working out for an hour, drenched in sweat. The sweat dripped from her hair onto the floor and slid down her smooth collarbone into her clothes.
Lori was panting heavily. After throwing the last punch, she steadied the punching bag and walked to the side to drink water.
Lori sat cross-legged, gulping down water.
"I think you should be drinking alcohol instead." Todd's voice came from the doorway.
He had been there for a long time, standing at the door since Lori started working out. He was almost falling asleep standing there. Finally, Lori stopped.
Todd walked over: "Not happy? Taking it out on the punching bag?"
Lori glanced at him: "Better stay away from me, or my fists might get hit."
Saying that, Lori started hitting the punching bag again.
Todd walked over and watched from the side: "Did you fall for some handsome guy again and couldn't get him?"
Lori was acting a bit unusual; she was fine just a moment ago.
Lori didn't speak and continued hitting the punching bag.
Todd moved to face Lori: "Lori, you still owe me two favors."
Lori stopped: "Say it, what do you want me to do? I'll do it now."
Todd thought for a moment: "Chat with me."
"That simple?" Lori felt suspicious: "Are you up to some trick to harm me again?"
"How dare I? Aurora is upstairs. If I harm you, won't Aurora beat me up?" Todd moved his shoulders: "I'm already like this. You could take me down with one finger. What, are you scared?"
"Damn it, why would I be scared?"
"Girls shouldn't curse."
Lori glanced at him again: "My mom died early, and I had no dad. I pretty much grew up on my own. It's a miracle I didn't turn out worse. Why do you care if I curse?"
Lori only recently found out Richard was her dad. In her memory, she had no dad.
Richard was just an uncle, and he didn't discipline her much, letting her roam freely.
Lori walked to the side and grabbed a bottle of water to drink.
"You wanted me to chat with you. What do you want to talk about?"
"Just chat about anything."
"Right, I remembered something..." Lori suddenly turned around and bumped into Todd, who was walking over.
"My hands!" Todd quickly stepped back in fear. His hand couldn't take another hit.
In his haste, Todd accidentally stepped on his own foot and started to fall backward Lori quickly grabbed Todd's collar and pulled him back.
Lori used too much force, and Todd, due to inertia, fell directly onto Lori.
Without missing a beat, Todd's lips landed directly on Lori's.
At that moment, the scene and time seemed to freeze.
Both of their eyes widened. Lori was holding Todd's collar, Todd's hands were in casts, one leg standing, the other lifted, in a position ready to take off.
A few seconds later, Lori, in shock, pushed Todd away. Todd couldn't stand steady and fell to the ground, almost in tears from the pain.
"You shrew, can you be a bit gentler?" Todd shouted.
That kiss left Lori stunned, her mind in chaos. That was her first kiss.
Her real first kiss.
"Todd, you took advantage of me again." Lori quickly wiped her mouth.
Todd, sitting on the ground, seeing Lori's flustered look, spoke innocently: "That was my first kiss too. Clearly, you took advantage of me. I have reason to suspect you have feelings for me."
It was Lori who pulled him over just now.
Lori looked at Todd sitting on the ground, looking like he was bullied by her, and uttered in frustration: "What a sin." She immediately ran off.
Aurora got up in the middle of the night to get water and saw Lori running out of the training room in a panic. She asked, "Lori, what's wrong?"
Lori, seeing Aurora, shook her head guiltily: "Nothing."
"Are you sure?"
"Absolutely sure." Lori nodded: "Aurora, I'm going to take a shower and rest." After saying that, she slipped away.
Aurora was curious and then saw Todd limping out of the training room.
There really was something going on.
Aurora quickly "floated" in front of Todd: "Todd, why is your face so red?"
"Whoa!" Todd was startled by Aurora's sudden appearance, "Mrs. Lewis, can you make your entrance a bit more subtle in the middle of the night?"
"Confess honestly, what did you do to Lori?" Aurora looked like she was about to interrogate him.
Todd cried out in injustice: "It was clearly her who did something indescribable to me, not the other way around."
"Indescribable?" Aurora's gossiping heart was piqued, excited and curious, she pressed: "Then describe it to me slowly."
