Chapter 186 Aurora's Romantic Encounter

Irregular periods.

Well, that was pretty straightforward.

John's eye twitched a bit as he listened.

He got what Aurora was hinting at and played along, "It's 'cause you stay up late and eat at odd hours. You really need to take better care of yourself."

Aurora rolled her eyes, pretending to be annoyed, "There you go again. You've said this a million times. Even my dad doesn't nag me as much as you do."

John was left speechless.

His girlfriend was excessively arrogant.

He sighed, "Alright. As long as you follow the doctor's advice, eat on time, and sleep on time, I'll stop nagging."

Jennifer frowned. Since when was John so humble in front of anyone?

A man who was so decisive and ruthless outside was like a henpecked husband in front of Aurora. Jennifer felt a surge of anger but kept her face neutral.

"Ms. White, John just cares about you. Women with irregular periods can have a hard time getting pregnant."

"I already have two sons. I'm not thinking about more kids before I turn thirty," Aurora said, looking at John. "What do you think?"

John nodded. "No rush, let's just enjoy our time together for now."

What else could he say? He had to go along with her.

Aurora was the woman he chose at first sight and had always pampered. What else could he do?

Aurora was pregnant, and her moods were all over the place.

Plus, in Silver Crest City, there was a taboo about revealing pregnancies in the last three months.

Jennifer couldn't stand how John always catered to Aurora and changed the subject, "John, your mom was just calling for you. You should go check on her. By the way, Ms. White, you're here to see Aunt Helen too, right?"

Aurora knew exactly what Jennifer was getting at. Helen called Jennifer her daughter-in-law. If Aurora went in, it would just be to make her uncomfortable and show off.

"I better not. John can visit her for me," Aurora said, "I need to go to the Robinson family to see Loren, so I'll head out."

Without waiting for Jennifer to say anything else, Aurora took her bag from John's hand and said, "I'm leaving."

And she really left just like that.

Jennifer, feeling unsatisfied, said, "John, aren't you being too indulgent with Ms. White? Aunt Helen is still in the ward, and she didn't even go to see her."

"These formalities aren't necessary. I'll go see my mom." John headed straight to the ward.

After leaving the hospital, Aurora originally intended to go to the Robinson family. But halfway there, her car got sideswiped.

Just her luck.

The one who sideswiped her car was Chris.

Chris paused for a moment when he saw Aurora, then a hint of a smile appeared in his eyes. "Ms. White, what a coincidence."

Aurora glanced at the scratched rear of her car and then looked at Chris. "Mr. Harris, you rear-ended my car. It's your fault."

Chris, being rich and wealthy, said, "I'll immediately compensate you with a brand new one."

Saying this, Chris immediately made a call, "Send a brand new Ferrari over right away, red."

Too rich.

After the call, Chris said, "Ms. White, it's lunchtime. How about I treat you to a meal as an apology?"

His excessive politeness must have an ulterior motive

Aurora said, "Nicole and Emily are both in jail now. Mr. Harris shouldn't have any more worries. You've compensated for the car, so let's skip the meal. I don't accept unearned rewards."

"Ms. White, you really are heartless." Chris touched his empty pant leg and sneered, "A debt of a leg isn't so easily settled."

Aurora frowned. She had never owed anyone such a big debt in her life, but she owed Chris.

Aurora always said that the son pays for the father's debt, but that wasn't really her principle. Her principle was whoever owed the debt should repay it.

Percy and Nicole harmed her, yet Chris shouldn't have to lose a leg for it.

"Alright, I'll have a meal with Mr. Harris." Aurora said. "Let's go to Villa Kitchen; how about that?"

Aurora now knew that John was the owner behind Villa Kitchen. Keeping the business in the family, of course, she’d bring business to their own restaurant.

"Alright," Chris agreed right away.

Aurora's car was just scratched and still drivable, so they each drove their own cars to Villa Kitchen.

Chris, being a gentleman, let Aurora order the dishes. Aurora didn’t hold back and ordered four dishes and a soup.

Once the food arrived, Aurora just focused on eating.

But Chris wasn’t just there for the meal.

Sipping his tea, Chris casually asked, "Ms. White, have you and John set a wedding date?"

"Not yet," Aurora replied, taking a sip of her soup and smiling, "But if Mr. Harris has any ideas about me, I'm sorry to say I'm already taken."

With one sentence, Aurora shut down Chris's next words.

Chris's face darkened a bit. "Even if I, Chris, lost a leg or became paralyzed, there would still be plenty of women lining up. It's not necessarily you, Aurora."

Aurora smiled, "If Mr. Harris thinks that way, then I'm relieved."

Looking at Aurora's smile, Chris felt quite frustrated.

He recalled the scene of Aurora and John dancing together at Mr. Lewis's birthday banquet. That was truly stunning.

Aurora was enjoying her meal when Loren called her on a video call.

"Mr. Harris, do you mind if I take this call?"

"Go ahead," Chris replied, continuing to drink his tea. Because of what Aurora said just now, he had lost his appetite.

Aurora answered the video call and saw Loren also eating. "Mommy, when are you coming to see me?"

This was the first time Loren had asked Aurora to visit him.

"Be good, and I'll come after I finish eating."

They chatted over the video call, completely ignoring Chris.

Chris didn’t say a word, just watched Aurora interact and laugh occasionally with Loren. The genuine and warm scene made him understand for the first time what family affection meant.

Such warmth had never existed in the Harris family. Even before his leg was broken, when Percy doted on him, it was at most praise and endless money. After his leg was broken, life became much harder, and he never saw a smile on Percy's face again.

Chris suddenly longed for a warm family. To live a simple life with his wife and children.

For the first time, this feeling was so strong.

The video call lasted almost an hour, and Aurora's phone was running out of battery, so they finally hung up.

The meal was almost finished as well.

Chris had no excuse to keep Aurora any longer.

He could use his broken leg to manipulate Aurora once, but he couldn’t push his luck. Chris had figured out Aurora's character and was quite self-aware.

"Mr. Harris, thank you for the meal today," Aurora said as she stood up, "I need to go back and be with my son."

Chris squeezed out three words through his teeth, "You're welcome."

Aurora smiled, and they both left the private room. Aurora went to the restroom to wash her hands.

The restroom was empty, the light seemed broken, and there were no windows, making the entire room dim.

Aurora didn’t think much of it. After washing her hands, she lowered her head to adjust her clothes.

At that moment, a figure appeared in the mirror above the sink. A woman wearing a Fox mask was quietly approaching Aurora.

She raised a knife and lunged at Aurora.

Just then, Aurora looked up and saw the figure in the mirror, her heart racing as she instinctively dodged.

The woman missed, and the knife hit the mirror, shattering the glass with a crash.

"You again?"

Fox from The Shadow of Darkness organization.

"Go to hell," the woman said, not wasting words.

Aurora bolted for the door.

Wasn't Jennifer with John at the hospital?

Could she have been wrong?

Was Jennifer really Fox from the Shadow of Darkness organization?

Chris heard the commotion and wheeled himself over. He saw Aurora running out of the restroom in a panic, with a knife-wielding person in a Fox mask chasing her. Chris urgently shouted, "Aurora."

Meanwhile, he quickly wheeled himself over, and as the woman lunged at Aurora with the knife, he leaped from his wheelchair on one leg, positioning himself in front of Aurora.
