Chapter 72 Daniel and John's Romance Showdown

Sandra recognized that it was Lucas. Herexpression instantly soured, and she shook him off.

"It's none of your business," she said.

"Sandra, I didn't help you to get a job here just for you to mess around. Remember what you promised me?" Lucas's tone was tinged with anger. "You said you were just here to work, but what have you done? I warned you not to go after Aurora."

"What, have you fallen for that woman too?" Sandra said, sneering. "Lucas, you promised my sister you'd take care of me. If John finds out I caused the car accident, what are you going to tell her?"

"You're being ridiculous." Lucas was furious. "You almost killed John and Aurora, and you don't even seem to care."

"How was I supposed to know John would be with her?" Sandra saw that Lucas was genuinely angry and softened her tone, tugging at Lucas's hand. "Lucas, I just feel it's unfair for my sister. She got into an accident because of John, and just a few years later, he's forgotten her. I just wanted to teach Aurora a lesson. I didn't expect things to get so serious."

"Do you expect John to stay single for your sister's sake forever?" Lucas found it somewhat laughable. Still, hewasn't without principles, so he gave Sandra a grim warning. "Sandra, for Jennifer's sake, I'll keep this a secret this time, but if it happens again, I won't be able to help you."

Lucas left her to think about it and turned to walk out.

Sandra called out after him. "Lucas, you've never spoken to me so harshly before. Have you really fallen for Aurora?"

Lucas paused and said, "Don't talk nonsense. Aurora is John's woman."

"John risked his life for Aurora. He's going to marry her, isn't he?" Sandra asked persistently. "She won't end up like those other brides who mysteriously died after marrying John, right?"

"Anyone who dares to touch a hair on Aurora's head will face the consequences," Lucas said. "The fate of the Wilson Group and Percy's son is the best example."

Sandra was well aware of how the Wilson Group had been acquired overnight by Lewis Group.

"John targeted the Wilson Group for Aurora?" Sandra was incredulous. "And Chris's leg, was that also John's doing?"

Lucas nodded, said nothing more, and walked out of the office.

Sandra stood there in shock, realizing the lengths John had gone to for Aurora.

She felt a sudden surge of panic.

Pacing anxiously, she pulled out her phone and made a call. "Do you want to know why your leg was crippled?"

Aurora came out of the restroom and went to the file room to find some documents. One document was placed on a shelf that was too high for her to reach. Even on tiptoe, Aurora could barely reach it.

Aurora jumped up to grab it, but suddenly the documents fell, and the shelf wobbled.

"Watch out."

Lucas rushed over and quickly steadied the shelf.

"Aurora, are you okay?" he asked.

Aurora got hit on the head by the documents, but it wasn't serious. She was quite surprised to see that it was Lucas who helped her.

"Lucas, what are you doing here?"

Wasn't Lucas based at the subsidiary company?

"I came to check on things here at the headquarters." Lucas picked the documents up from the floor. "Are you adjusting well here?"

"Pretty well," Aurora said. "Thank you."

"You're welcome. I would have helped any other employee too." Lucas asked knowingly, "I heard you were in a car accident recently. Have you fully recovered?"

"Yes, thank you for your concern, Lucas."

With just the two of them in the file room, Aurora felt a bit uneasy. Holding the documents, she said, "I have work to do, so I'll get back to it."

"Alright," Lucas said. "Don't stretch yourself too thin. Health is the most important asset."

Aurora smiled. "Got it."

As she went back to her desk, a delivery man stood at the door with a large bouquet of roses, asking, "Who is Aurora White?"

"That's me," Aurora said, puzzled.

"Miss White, these are for you. Please sign for them."

The delivery man was holding such a large bouquet that it attracted the attention of her colleagues.

Someone said, teasingly, "Aurora, did your boyfriend send these?"

She and John had broken up, so it was unlikely that he had sent them.

Besides, no one knows John’s current situation, so how could he send flowers?

Aurora asked the delivery man, "Who sent these?"

"Mr. Taylor."

Daniel?

There was a card attached to the bouquet.

Aurora opened it and read it. "You are the brightest star in my sky and my missing piece."

How cheesy.

Aurora put the card back. "Sorry, please return these flowers."

Daniel was really persistent, first sending flowers to the hospital and now to the company.

A colleague teased, "Aurora, is it a suitor? Such beautiful flowers, it would be a waste not to accept them. From the flowers, you can tell he's a romantic."

The delivery man looked troubled. "Miss White, please accept them. If you return them, the customer will complain, and I'll get fined. I might even lose my job."

Everyone had to work to survive; it wasn't easy for anyone.

Aurora hesitated, but she ended up signing for them. A colleague smiled and said, "Aurora, if you don't like them, use them to decorate the office. Don't let them go to waste."

"Alright, you handle it," Aurora said, handing the flowers to her colleague. Both Lucas and Sandra witnessed this scene.

Sandra sneered inwardly, thinking Aurora was indeed a flirt.

Lucas, however, made no comment, but he did envy the person who could openly pursue Aurora.

Daniel had delivered the flowers to the office, which created a bad impression. Aurora went to the balcony for some privacy and called Daniel.

The call was immediately answered, and Daniel's cheerful voice came through. "Aurora, did you get the flowers? Do you like them?"

"Daniel, stop doing this. It only makes me more annoyed," Aurora said, clearly irritated.

"Aurora, I know I hurt you before. I'll send flowers every day until you forgive me."

Aurora was really frustrated, feeling like her words were falling on deaf ears.

"Do as you please. The office could use some decorations anyway."

Did he really think she wouldn't dare to accept them?

Aurora hung up the phone, and suddenly heard Sandra's voice coming from behind her.

"Aurora, what's wrong? You don't look happy. Did you have a fight with your boyfriend?" Sandra walked over with a smile. "I saw that big bouquet earlier. Your boyfriend is really romantic. When will you introduce him to us?"

Aurora usually had nothing to do with Sandra, and Sandra's sudden enthusiasm about meeting her boyfriend felt odd. She was acting as if they were close.

"He's not my boyfriend," Aurora said, unwilling to elaborate. "I have work to do, so I'll get back to it."

"Alright, you go ahead," Sandra said with a smile. As soon as Aurora turned around, Sandra's smile vanished, and her gaze turned sinister.

The news of Aurora receiving flowers at the company quickly reached John's ears.

John frowned. "Todd, order an even bigger bouquet and send it over."
