Chapter 426 Sandra Might Not Be Dead

Aurora hadn't eaten much all day and was starving.

She tilted her head and smiled at John, "Babe, where are you taking me for dinner tonight?"

John grinned and couldn't resist pinching her cheek. "You've been so good today. Your skin is so soft. Tonight, we're going all out."

"Whatever you say, babe." Aurora beamed and touched her cheek. "Is my skin really that nice?"

She flipped down the car's sun visor mirror to check her reflection, feeling particularly pleased.

"People might think I'm a college student when I walk out like this."

"Absolutely." John drove steadily. "By the way, that woman Karolyn, try to steer clear of her."

Aurora asked, "Why do you say that, babe?"

John couldn't quite explain, just said, "It's a gut feeling."

Aurora nodded knowingly. "I'll be careful."

The car soon arrived at the restaurant.

The couple enjoyed their time together, a lavish meal paired with a bottle of red wine, as if they were still in the honeymoon phase.

Aurora looked blissful. "John, I must have done something amazing in a past life to meet someone like you."

"Your sweet talk is something else."

John pinched Aurora's cheek again, his gaze falling on her red lips. He leaned in and gave her a quick kiss.

"Really sweet."

Aurora fell silent, her heart suddenly racing, and her cheeks flushed slightly.

She said shyly, "There are people around."

They were dining in the main hall, which was quite crowded, mostly with couples. Indeed, some people glanced their way with envious looks, and some even discreetly took photos of their kiss.

John looked at the bashful Aurora with gentle eyes. "Eat more."

Aurora kept her head down and focused on her food.

"You seem really busy lately!"

They chatted casually.

"Yeah, the company has been running several projects, so it's been a bit hectic." John's voice was rich and deep. "A few more years of hard work, and I can hand over the reins to our sons. Summer has great potential, and Randy is highly praised by the teachers on the island."

"And what about Loren?"

Aurora really missed their two sons.

"Loren," John hesitated, then said, "he's quite the prankster. The teachers on the island are having a hard time with him."

Aurora laughed, picturing Loren's mischievous antics.

"I'm curious to see how Trey and Jax will turn out as they grow older. Will they be as mature and steady as Summer, or as mischievous as Loren?"

"I'm more excited about our daughter. She'll definitely be a beautiful little princess."

Aurora rolled her eyes at John. "You're obsessed with having a daughter. My belly hasn't shown any signs for so long. I think the Lewis family just isn't destined to have girls."

"I don't believe in fate." John looked at Aurora intently. "I think we just need to try harder. Let's continue our baby-making plan tonight."

Aurora silently ate her food, her legs still feeling weak.

After finishing their meal and paying the bill, John went to the restroom while Aurora waited outside the restaurant.

A drunken man staggered out of a private room.

"Mr. Taylor, you've had too much. Be careful."

"I'm fine, I'm not that drunk."

Daniel wobbled towards the door, and Aurora, standing there waiting for John, was directly bumped into.

"Sorry, I've had too much," Daniel hiccupped. When he saw it was Aurora, he froze for a moment, then excitedly grabbed her shoulders. "Aurora, what a coincidence! You look so beautiful today."

Daniel's eyes were hazy, and to him, Aurora looked particularly enchanting.

"Get your hands off me," Aurora snapped, not showing any kindness.

"Aurora, don't be like this. I regret it. I know I was wrong." Daniel, abandoning his usual arrogance, suddenly admitted his mistakes in front of Aurora. "Aurora, I regret it so much. I'm paying for it now. I married a devil from hell. I used to think Emily was annoying, but after marrying Amelia, I realized she's the real nightmare. She hits and scolds me all the time. Look, here, and here, all her doing."

Daniel rolled up his sleeves to show Aurora his bruises, both new and old, except for his face.

Daniel's voice grew more tearful as he spoke, and the onlookers were shocked.

People had heard of men abusing women, but a man being abused by a woman like this was rare.

Aurora was also surprised and silently gave Amelia a thumbs-up for a job well done.

Daniel was venting his frustrations, feeling miserable and regretful.

Aurora had no sympathy. "This was your choice. You can't blame anyone else."

"Yes, I deserve it. To be honest, I'm just a figurehead in the Taylor family. With Amelia overshadowing me, I can't rise above. I'm a man, a man who should stand tall." Daniel sobbed, holding Aurora's hand. "You saw it earlier today. She flips out over the smallest things. She has the Smith family backing her, and I'm suffocating."

Aurora sneered. "You deserve it."

"Yes, I deserve it. I had such a good woman, and let her go to marry a tyrant. Amelia controls me so tightly, I can barely breathe." Daniel clutched his head in despair.

The onlookers pointed and laughed.

"This is the consequence of marrying into a wealthy family. It's all for show."

"Such a person doesn't deserve pity. If you can't handle it, don't accept it."

"You know his ex-wife, right? Now she's the Harris family's darling. When she was down, he kicked her out and immediately hooked up with the Smith family's daughter."

"Heartless."

"Deserves his fate."

Daniel was a public figure, having attended many events and been interviewed by magazines. People knew him well.

The Taylor-Smith family marriage was a big deal, and Daniel's pants splitting at his wedding was a long-standing joke.

Used to being ridiculed, Daniel grabbed Aurora's hand in desperation.

"Aurora, I regret it. Can we start over? I realize now that you're the one I love the most."

Aurora's head hurt from listening. "Let go."

Aurora was getting angry.

Daniel didn't let go, holding onto Aurora. "I really love you. Out of all the women, you're the one I love the most. I was too arrogant before. Aurora, can we start over?"

"I'll count to three. One, two..."

"Aurora, I can give you everything..."

"Three!"

With the final count, Aurora swiftly kicked him into the nearby fountain.

Daniel fell into the water, getting completely soaked.

"Stay in there and sober up."

The water wasn't deep, and Daniel stood up, water only reaching his knees.

This scene was a repeat of history. Aurora had once kicked him into the sea.

Aurora dusted off her hands as John's car pulled up. She got in without a word.

Daniel stood in the fountain, angrily splashing water, watching them leave.

As the car drove away, John frowned. "Did he bother you again?"

"Just a drunk. Ignore him." Aurora didn't take Daniel seriously.

John didn't either. "Aurora, I just got some news. Sandra might still be alive."
