Chapter 65 What Will I Do If You Die
The road was muddy and slippery after the rain, making it hard to control one's vehicle, which could easily lead to accidents.
They were on a curve, with a rock wall on one side and a cliff on the other. A slight mistake could result in a fatal crash.
Aurora saw that they were about to collide with the oncoming car, but John didn't slow down. The other driver was so scared that he didn't know how to react, swerving left and right.
Aurora asked in panic, "John, what's wrong?"
"The brakes have failed. Hold on tight," he said.
John remained calm and quickly made a decision. He turned the steering wheel to avoid the oncoming car and scraped the car against the rock wall to slow down.
The violent bump from the car hitting the rock wall made Aurora's stomach churn. She nervously gripped the seatbelt, her eyes fixed ahead.
She was extremely tense.
The mountain road was steep and winding. The sound of the car scraping against the rock wall was piercing. The car slowed down a bit, but it still couldn't stop.
"John, are we going to die here?" Aurora's voice cracked with fear.
It was too dangerous; they could flip over and die at any moment.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here." John grabbed Aurora's hand to reassure her.
With one hand, he quickly turned the steering wheel, keeping the car close to the rock wall.
The car hit a large pothole, and due to the high speed, it almost jumped out of control, momentarily leaving the ground.
The feeling of losing their grip on the road made Aurora close her eyes in fear as she held John's hand tightly.
If the car continued like this, they would plunge off the cliff and die.
John glanced at Aurora, then looked ahead with a serious expression.
Aurora heard John say, "Aurora, close your eyes, don't look."
Aurora instinctively wanted to look up but then heard a loud bang. It was the sound of the car crashing into the rock wall. John shielded her, and her ears rang before she lost consciousness.
The car had crashed into the mountain. The front end had caved in and the engine had stalled.
The car stopped a meter from the cliff, tipping over, with the most severe damage at the driver's side.
John had used the driver's side to absorb the impact to protect Aurora.
Both of them were unconscious in the car, with John shielding Aurora.
The drizzle continued, light as snowflakes, and a mist rose in the mountains.
After the loud crash echoed through the valley, everything returned to silence, with only the sound of wind and rain.
After an unknown amount of time, Aurora slowly opened her eyes. A drop of blood from John's forehead fell on her face.
"John, John," Aurora called out weakly, but John didn't respond.
Aurora cried in panic. His forehead and arms were covered in blood. She wanted to touch him but didn't know where to start.
Just then, a phone rang.
The sound came from a gap between the seats, where the phone had fallen during the crash.
Aurora tried to reach for the phone, but her hand couldn't get to it. The car was filled with broken glass, and she cut her hand while trying to retrieve the phone. Her hand bled profusely.
John's blood continued to drip on her, and she could no longer tell whose blood she was seeing, whether it was hers or his..
"John, wake up, John!" Aurora's voice was filled with worry and fear. "You can't die. If you die, I'll never forgive you. I'll find someone better and more handsome and forget about you!"
John still didn't respond. Aurora was both anxious and scared. She tried to crawl out of the car, knowing it was their only chance to survive.
The car wobbled as it tipped over, and with John pressing on her, her leg was stuck between the seats, making it hard to move. She could barely get her head out.
Rain hit her face, blurring her vision.
Aurora blinked and shouted, "Help, help, is anyone there?"
There were hardly anyone living in the mountains, and few people would be on the road, especially this late and in the rain.
Aurora touched John's cold hand, panicking even more.
"John, you can't die, do you hear me? You can't die."
Just then, Aurora heard footsteps approaching. She turned her head and saw a man in a black raincoat coming down the mountain.
Aurora recognized him as the driver who had gone up the mountain earlier.
"Help us, please. Save him first, he's barely holding on."
Aurora clung to the man in the raincoat as if he were their last hope, pleading desperately.
The man in the raincoat approached and said, "Don't worry, I'll get you out right away."
The man in the raincoat opened the car door from the outside, unbuckled John's seatbelt, and dragged him out of the car.
Thanks to John's protection, Aurora only had minor injuries and a sprained leg from being stuck in the car.
Aurora didn't care about herself and took off her jacket to cover John from the rain.
The man in the raincoat said, "Wait here, I'll go get my car."
Calling an ambulance here was unrealistic.
John was severely injured and his breathing was weak.
Aurora nodded. "Thank you."
The man in the raincoat went to get his car, and Aurora noticed a large piece of glass embedded in John's thigh, with blood continuously flowing out, staining the ground red.
Seeing John's face grow paler and the blood flow so freely, Aurora panicked completely. She was terrified that John would die.
"No, John, you can't die."
Aurora stumbled back into the car, reaching for the phone. Her hand was almost deformed from being squeezed by the seat, but she didn't care.
Aurora was frantic. She finally retrieved the phone and, in her panic, didn't know who to call for help.
She opened his contacts and saw Todd's name. Without thinking, she dialed his number.
The phone was quickly answered, and Aurora's voice was filled with fear and sobs. "Mr. Smith, John and I had a car accident on Peach Blossom Mountain. He's bleeding a lot and he's really pale."
Aurora was crying in panic, holding her jacket over John to shield him from the rain as she spoke into the phone.
On the other end, Todd was so shocked by Aurora's words that he jumped up from the sofa.
Even Sam and Tyler, who were with him, tensed up.
"Mr. Smith, what's wrong?"
"Hurry, the boss is in trouble," Todd said.
Todd was about to leave when Mr. Lewis came down the stairs. "Todd, what happened to John?"
"Grandpa Lewis, the boss had a car accident on Peach Blossom Mountain. The situation seems critical."
The man in the raincoat drove the car down, and together with Aurora, they lifted John into the car. As they moved him, John's wounds worsened, causing more blood to gush out.
Aurora was extremely nervous and scared. "Drive quickly, we need to gethim to the hospital."
Aurora held John, staring blankly at his face. She said, softly, "You can't die, do you hear me, John? If you die, what will I do?"
