Chapter 298 Todd's Interference

Aurora shook her head. "Not for now, I'll go after the interrogation is over."

She was avoiding suspicion. Lori worked here, and if she went in during the interrogation, she was afraid Lori would be gossiped about.

Lori immediately understood and said, "Aurora, why don't you sit in my office for a while?"

Aurora had never been to Lori's office and was quite interested. "Sure, I will take a look!"

Lori's office was remarkably simple, with an immaculate desk adorned only by a single potted cactus.

Other girls usually kept flowers or plants, but Lori was unique, keeping a prickly cactus.

"Aurora, have a seat." Lori was very enthusiastic, pouring water and bringing out her stash of snacks. She felt a sense of happiness, as if a relative had visited her at work.

Aurora saw the table full of snacks and exclaimed, "Your hobbies are really something, all snacks."

Lori smiled, "They're all gifts from colleagues. Aurora, what do you think of my work environment?"

"Not bad..." Aurora thought for a long time for a word and finally said, "Simple and elegant."

She was too polite to say it was shabby, so she put it mildly.

"Aurora, that's nothing. Let me show you the real deal." Lori mysteriously walked to the window, pulled the curtain open, and gestured for Aurora to look downstairs.

Aurora was puzzled, walked to the window, looked down, and suddenly saw the light, blurting out, "Lori, I thought you were in a den of wolves and was worried about you. Now I see, it's the wolves who should be worried, not you."

The window faced a playground where a group of men was training.

Their bare torsos showcased physiques so impressive that they could make anyone's mouth water.

Lori bit her nails and pretended to be shy, "Aurora, don't say that. I'm just purely admiring them."

Aurora shook her hands and said exaggeratedly, "Oh my, I got goosebumps. Can you talk normally?"

Lori, who was usually fierce, suddenly acting ladylike, felt very out of place, completely mismatched with her temperament.

"Aurora, I don't have a boyfriend. Can't I appreciate them?" Lori looked at the handsome guys on the playground, a bit excited, "I've asked around, these guys are all single; some haven't even had a girlfriend. Just thinking about it is exciting."

"Lori, I think you came to work here just for these men." Aurora asked, "What about Mr. Jennings? Weren't you interested in him before? Moved on so quickly?"

"Don't mention Mr. Jennings anymore. We're the same kind." Lori waved her hand, a bit deflated, "Mr. Jennings already has a boyfriend."

"Wait, boyfriend?" Aurora was afraid she misheard and misunderstood.

"Yeah." Lori spread her hands, sighing, "Nowadays, you not only have to compete with women for men but also with men. It's too hard."

Aurora was very surprised. Allan was handsome and manly, indeed the type both men and women would like.

"Come on. Lori, tell me more." Aurora's curiosity was piqued, pulling Lori to ask, "Have you seen Mr. Jennings' boyfriend? How does he look?"

"He is a very skinny guy with plain look." Lori pouted, a tone of disdain, "Aurora, you've seen him too."

Aurora asked, "Who?"

Lori replied, "Todd."

Aurora thought she was hearing things, very surprised, " You're not joking?"

"It is indeed he." Lori said, "Aurora, not only you're surprised but I was also surprised back then. Do you think Todd has a grudge against me? I finally liked a guy, and he came to compete with me. He even specifically told me not to go after Mr. Jennings. I'm telling you, Todd is now guarding against me like I'm a thief."

Aurora found it hard to believe. Todd couldn't possibly be that kind of person.

Lori continued to complain, "I really don't know how he survived till now, being fooled by that Sandra. When she calls him, he is soft-hearted . If it weren't for him pitying Sandra today, Loren wouldn't have suffered. How did the Smith Group not go bankrupt under his management?"

Aurora said, "You can't entirely blame Todd for this."

Aurora understood Todd letting Sandra go. After all, they had known each other for years, and Todd didn't know Loren was in trouble at the time.

Sandra, with her eloquence and superb acting prowess, was certain to ensnare Todd, given his soft-hearted disposition.

"Then who else to blame?" Lori got angry just thinking about it and asked, "Aurora, why are you here alone? Where's John?"

"I didn't let him come," Aurora said, "Given John's relationship with Sandra, it would be awkward for him to be here."

Lori said, "What's awkward about it? One is his son, the other is unrelated. Anyone would know who to choose."

Lori's words were direct, and Aurora was taken aback. It was true; she was just overthinking it. John might not think that way.

As they were talking, Ava came out from outside, "Lori, the Harris family is here for bail. You handle it; I want to rest for a while."

Aurora instinctively asked, "Who from the Harris family came?"

Ava said, "Chris."

Aurora said, "Looks like the Harris family really values Emily. She just got in, and they're already here for bail."

Aurora didn't get involved in Emily's bail. After Allan had finished the interrogation, Aurora could go see Sandra.

Before seeing Sandra, Allan conveyed what Sandra had confessed, which pointed that it wasn't her fault.

Allan couldn't get Sandra to tell the truth. She suddenly felt there was no need to see Sandra anymore.

With the surveillance, Loren's testimony, and Sandra's previous attempt to capture Loren in Skyvale Village, it wouldn't be easy for Sandra to escape punishment.

Aurora asked, "Mr. Jennings, in Sandra's case, what kind of sentence are we looking at?"

Allan said, "For kidnapping a minor, if we go heavy, seven to eight years is possible."

Aurora said, "Just sentence her according to the law. I just want justice."

"Follow the due process; if Sandra is guilty, the law will inevitably bring her to justice." Allan spoke with grave formality when discussing business matters. After concluding the official discussion, he hesitantly inquired, "Mrs. Lewis, as Lori's sister, may I ask you about Lori's usual interests and preferences?"

Aurora was surprised and puzzled, "Mr. Jennings, what do you mean?"

Didn't Lori say Allan and Todd were a couple? Where did it go wrong?

"Mrs. Lewis, there you are. Mr. Lewis is looking for you." Todd suddenly came in, interrupting Allan with a smile.

Aurora asked, "John is here?"

Todd said, "Mr. Lewis was worried about you, so he came too. He's in the lobby, you should go."

"Okay." Hearing John was here, Aurora forgot about Allan's question.

As Aurora left, Todd cautiously checked to make sure she was gone. Then he closed the office door and looked at Allan, "Allan, you interested in that shrew?"
