Chapter 173 This Time It Won't Be a Bluff, Right?

Aurora shot John a look, and he noticed the woman on the second floor of the restaurant too.

John signaled to the hidden guards, and one of them headed upstairs right away.

"Aurora, head back to the car."

"Okay." Aurora took Loren and went back to the car.

A bit later, John came back.

"Was it her?" Aurora asked.

John shook his head. "Just some random person, wearing a mask for fun."

Aurora scoffed, "With Nightfall's top-notch info network, you don't even have a photo of that Fox from Shadow of Darkness? That's pretty lame."

John sighed, "The Shadow of Darkness is super secretive. All I know about the boss is his last name, Johnson. He's been off the radar for years. Even this Fox character has been MIA for a while."

"Last name Johnson, disappeared..." Aurora's eyes lit up. "The one at home?"

She stopped there.

Jennifer, who had been missing for years, also had the last name Johnson. It was a bit of a stretch, but not impossible.

John thought for a moment. "Let's wait for the info department to confirm."

Aurora nodded. "Good to see you're not blinded by beauty."

John had indeed been looking into Jennifer.

John grinned, "Aurora, you're the only one I love. I don't even notice other women."

"Men's words are full of lies," she said, holding Loren, but she was secretly pleased. "By the way, someone offered ten million dollars to Wolfpack's Lori to take me out. That's so unfair. Lori said someone offered a hundred million for you. Why am I worth so much less?"

John wasn't focused on the money but on the fact that someone wanted Aurora dead.

He asked, "Who is it?"

Aurora replied, "Lori and I think it's probably that Fox from Shadow of Darkness."

Hearing that someone wanted to kill Aurora, Loren hugged her tightly. "Mommy, I'll protect you."

"Oh, my sweet boy, protecting Mommy." Aurora was very pleased.

John's eyes narrowed. "No one will harm you."

With John around, Aurora felt safe.

Aurora remembered what Lori said. "By the way, I might have to go with Lori."

She wanted to see where her mother lived and visit the Lee family.

"Aurora, Wolfpack and Nightfall have had beef for years, fighting over orders and territories. If you go to Wolfpack, isn't that like handing them my weak spot?" He was genuinely concerned.

Aurora said, "Jack is still in Wolfpack. I need to see him to be at ease. By the way, John, why aren't you surprised I know Lori?"

Aurora just realized John was too calm.

John glanced at the necklace around Aurora's neck in the rearview mirror. "That necklace, I've seen it on someone from Lee family. Your mom must be from Lee family. You were bound to go back eventually."

Aurora remembered John's reaction when he first saw the necklace. "Then I have to go even more. Maybe I can ease the tension between Wolfpack and Nightfall."

"Are you gonna defect?" John half-joked, half-serious. "Last night, Lori almost took me out. How are you gonna settle that score for me?"

Aurora slapped her forehead. "How did I almost forget? Lori took a hundred million. You're my man, and finders keepers. I'll have her split half of it."

John was speechless.

Aurora suddenly had an idea. "John, I think you should piss off more people. Then, when they can't stand you but can't get rid of you, they'll go to Lori, and we'll get rich. I'm so clever."

"Isn't this way of making money too risky?" John chuckled. "Aurora, seriously, I'm pretty good at making money. Supporting you is no problem at all."

"Who complains about having too much money?" Aurora rolled her eyes.

Loren, with a serious face, chimed in, "John, your family status is clear. If you have another kid, do you think you'll still have any status?"

John thought about it and realized Loren had a point.

Aurora couldn't help but laugh.

The three of them chatted and laughed in the car.

Instead of going back to the Meadowbrook Villa, Aurora returned to White Family and found Dean to ask about her mother.

Dean genuinely knew nothing. "I really don't know who your mom's family is or what they do. She never mentioned it, except for that one time she left SilverCrest City for a few months and came back with Jack. After that, she never left SilverCrest City again."

Aurora's curiosity grew even more.

She really planned to visit Wolfpack, feeling something there was calling her.

Loren inAurorated on going with her. He just couldn't bear to be away from Aurora; otherwise, he would have gone to the island.

John agreed too. It was good for Aurora to leave SilverCrest City for a while. With Aurora and Jennifer under the same roof, he wouldn't be at ease.

Aurora was a person of action. After a call with Lori, she and Loren packed their things and went to the hotel to meet up.

Seeing Aurora with Loren, Lori was particularly happy. "Little chubby boy, come here."

Loren pouted. "I'm not chubby; I'm adorably plump."

Lori burst out laughing.

"Aurora, Richard doesn't know you're coming back with me yet. Something happened on his end, so we'll first check out a nearby branch, as he instructed."

"Okay." Aurora asked, "Are we taking a boat or a plane?"

Aurora still didn't know where the branch was.

"Plane," Lori said. "Everything's ready. We'll leave at dusk, and it will take two hours."

There was still some time before dusk, and Aurora felt sleepy again. "I'll take a nap first."

Aurora felt like she could never get enough sleep, so she took over Lori's bed and wrapped herself in a blanket to sleep.

Night fell.

The group took a private plane to the Wolfpack branch.

Aurora said, "Lori, I just realized Wolfpack is quite wealthy. You always travel by private jet."

"Rented," Lori said. "This time, I'm paying out of my own pocket."

Ava, who rarely smiled, showed a slight smile. "It's the first time I've seen her be so generous to someone."

Feeling honored, Aurora boarded the plane with Loren.

Once on the plane, Aurora noticed there was no pilot. Just as she was about to speak, she saw Lori heading to the cockpit.

"You can fly a plane?" Aurora was quite surprised.

Lori smiled confidently, "Piece of cake. Aurora, Loren, buckle up."

The helicopter ascended, flying into the sky. Lori flew it like a rocket, speeding over mountains and valleys, even making the aircraft spin.

Aurora threw up immediately.

She had never been airsick before, but shortly after boarding, she started vomiting continuously, with only stomach acid left in her mouth, and her stomach still churning.

Loren took care of her, and Lori slowed down to fly steadily without showing off any more tricks.

Two hours later, the plane landed on a grassy field, and Aurora, weak in the legs and exhausted from vomiting, was helped off the aircraft.

Lori scratched her head. "Aurora, how come? Vomiting like this, anyone who didn't know would think you're pregnant."

Aurora remembered her recent sleepiness, increased appetite, and severe vomiting. She quickly asked, "Is there a doctor? Can you find me a doctor? Or buy a pregnancy test?"

"Aurora, are you really pregnant?" Lori asked.

Deep down, Aurora hoped she was pregnant, so she wouldn't let any signs go unnoticed.

Ava chimed in, "I have a pregnancy test."

This shocked Lori. "Ava, you're single. Why do you have that?"
