Chapter 74 Emily Starts Scheming Again

"His injury has almost healed. It's time to leave." Todd patted Summer's small shoulder. "I hope next time we come, we'll see you break the record Mr. Lewis set on the island."

"No problem," Summer said confidently, "Soon, I'll definitely break his record."

"Do you want to go see the boss?" Todd asked. "We're leaving for real this time, and who knows when we'll meet again."

"No," Summer said. "I still need to practice."

With that, Summer turned and headed to the training room.

John was already eager to leave the island and return to Silvercrest City.

After packing up, John set off that afternoon.

Although Summer said he wouldn't see John off, he still went when John was leaving.

Summer stood by the shore, watching John's boat depart, feeling a bit dejected.

"Summer, what's wrong? Are you upset?" Gary appeared behind Summer at some point.

"Mr. Collins," Summer looked up at Gary.

"Mr. Lewis has been recovering on the island, and you've been taking care of him. It's normal to develop feelings for him," Gary said. "You have no parents, and you admire Mr. Lewis and consider him a role model. Subconsciously, you've also started to see him as a father."

"Mr. Collins, that's not true," Summer said, not wanting anyone to see through his thoughts.

Gary smiled and said, "Don't forget, I'm your mentor. I have quite a bit of knowledge in psychology."

"Mr. Collins," Summer pouted. "I've never seen my parents. I don't even know what they look like. Mr. Lewis said he would help me find them."

Gary asked, "Do you want to find them?"

"I don't know," Summer said, shaking his head. He really didn't know, but with John leaving, he did feel a bit down.

Usually, John would guide him during training, like a teacher and a father.

It was different from when Randy and Gary taught him.

Gary looked at John's departing boat and said softly, "You and John do have a lot in common, like father and son."

Aurora finally had some peace today; Daniel didn't send her any flowers.

In the past few days, she had made nearly ten thousand dollars selling flowers, and she planned to treat Sophia and Loren to a big meal tonight.

Jack's surgery was scheduled for tomorrow, which was also good news.

With so many good things happening, Aurora was in high spirits, humming a tune as she packed up to leave work.

As she left the company, her good mood vanished when she saw a familiar face.

Emily had been waiting at the company entrance for a while.

She almost went crazy when she found out that Daniel had been sending flowers to Aurora every day.

Her husband had sentflowers to his ex-girlfriend. How could Emily not go crazy?

As soon as she saw Aurora, Emily could barely restrain herself from hitting her.

"Sis, how does it feel to receive flowers from my husband?" Emily's tone was strange. She was clearly angry but trying to hold it in.

"It feels great," Aurora said, deliberately trying to annoy Emily. "Getting such a big bouquet everyday is amazing. By the way, has Daniel sent you flowers lately? Valentine's Day is coming up and you should remind him."

Emily gritted her teeth in anger. "Aurora, can't you leave Daniel alone? He's my husband now, why are you still clinging to him?"

Emily was at her wit's end. Daniel wouldn't listen to her, and she couldn't stop him, so she had to come to Aurora.

"When you schemed against me and married him, you should have expected this day to come," Aurora said, mockingly. "You used all sorts of tricks against me, yet you can't even handle your own husband?"

Aurora actually hoped Emily could handle Daniel because she didn't want to see him anymore.

"He's still not over you, so what can I do? You're now Kevin's adopted daughter, and Daniel sees the benefits you can bring him. He won't let go so easily." Emily's tone was helpless and she was close to tears. "I'm begging you, let Daniel go. You have a boyfriend now, just let him go."

Aurora could hear the helplessness in Emily's tone.

She had no way to deal with Daniel's shamelessness either.

"Emily, five years ago, who was the man you and your mother hired? Did that child really die? If you tell the truth, I might consider letting Daniel go," Aurora asked Emily, bringing up the sordid past for the first time.

Aurora didn't trust Dean.

Nicole had threatened her several times with that child. The child might not be with Nicole, but that didn't mean he was dead.

"That man, he..." Emily couldn't answer immediately. She had indeed framed Aurora back then, but it had been so long, and she hadn't contacted that man since.

"What is it?" Aurora frowned.

"To be honest, it's been so long, I don't know how to get in touch with that man anymore. He was just a random person we found," Emily said, "As for your child, that was handled by Dad. I don't know the details, but Mom said the child is still alive."

"Really?" Aurora felt a bit excited. Maybe spending so much time with Loren had awakened her maternal instincts, and she really wanted to find that child.

"Why would I lie to you? That said, I don't know where the child is. If he wasn't alive, we wouldn't have found someone to impersonate him at the banquet," Emily said.

What Emily was telling her didn't match what she had heard from Dean. Regardless of who was telling the truth, Aurora needed to verify it herself.

Emily observed Aurora's expression and had an idea. "Maybe that man took the child. Aurora, if you let Daniel go, I'll help you find the child. I'll go look for that man right away and maybe I can get in touch with him again."

"Okay," Aurora was desperate to find that child.

Aurora had arranged to meet Sophia that evening and picked Loren up before heading to the restaurant.

Sophia was very enthusiastic when she heard Aurora was taking them out for dinner.

"Aurora, it's been a while since you bought me dinner. Did you come into some money?" Sophia's eyes lit up when she saw Loren. "Wow, Loren, you've grown so chubby and cute. Let me pinch your cheeks."

"No," Loren hid behind Aurora, pouting arrogantly. "Only my future wife can pinch my cheeks."

"Oh, you're already thinking abaout that at such a young age," Sophia teased. "Aurora, you'll be well taken care of in the future. Loren will find you many daughters-in-law to serve you."

Loren hugged Aurora and said, "I will marry my sister in the future."

Sophia was stunned, then burst into laughter. "By the time you grow up, your sister will be old. Aurora, you've adopted a little husband."

Aurora rolled her eyes at Sophia. "Loren is just being silly, and you're encouraging him. Hurry up and order the food. I 've come into a windfall this time. Let's see if food can finally keep you quiet."

"What kind of windfall?" Sophia asked casually.

Aurora explained about selling the flowers, and Sophia laughed heartily. "That's brilliant. Daniel is so shameless. This is exactly what he deserves. So, this meal is on Daniel, huh? I'll have to eat more, then."

Sophia didn't hold back and ordered a lot of dishes. Loren ordered his favorites too.

The three of them ate to their heart's content, and it was almost nine o'clock when they finished.

Just then, Emily called Aurora.

"Sis, I contacted that man. I've arranged to meet him at ten o'clock at Redwood Street Corner."
