Chapter 102 You Must Have the Ability to Kidnap Away
Nicholas found himself empty-handed, glancing at Gabriel, holding an envelope with a certain expression that instinctively made him feel like he should hold back a bit or he might end up getting hit.
He simply placed both hands on the desk, looking up at Gabriel sitting behind it with a composed expression. "What exactly is the relationship between you and Jessica? You stayed at her place for so long, then suddenly came back. Does she know? After my in-depth analysis, something just doesn't seem right. Is the Gabriel she spoke of that day truly indicative of the meaning I had presumed? Does she know you're Gabriel? Will she be my future sister-in-law?"
Gabriel's cold expression remained unchanged as if Nicholas had been following him all the way until now, finally giving Nicholas a serious look.
"Do you not want to be confined by the financial circle?" Gabriel spoke nonchalantly.
Nicholas immediately straightened up at the edge of the desk. "I managed to come this far even under Mr. Michael Harriman 's pressure. Either became a professional race car driver..."
Seeing Gabriel's faintly cold gaze, Nicholas quickly changed his tone. "Or stick to the medical profession for life. If you end up like back then, overworking to the point of severe gastric bleeding due to irregular meals and late nights, I'll personally perform surgery on you!"
Gabriel looked at Nicholas expressionlessly.
Nicholas was genuinely pleading, "Gabriel, I'm not cut out for the business world. Mr. Michael Harriman is stubborn and lacks empathy. Please, spare me."
"It's not impossible," Gabriel slowly said, "There's a condition."
"What condition? As long as I can do it, I shall unequivocally exert my utmost efforts on your behalf." Nicholas was thrilled to hear a slight concession from Gabriel.
"The drama' Charles II,' the main investment channel is your company, and Jessica is in this drama." Gabriel casually placed the envelope back on the desk.
Nicholas raised an eyebrow elegantly, "What a coincidence! So, my future sister-in-law is under my control..."
Meeting Gabriel's gaze once again, he instantly straightened up his expression, gradually becoming more serious. "I remember that drama. I almost attended the launch ceremony back then. The head of the investment team specifically mentioned this drama to me, saying the filming was smooth, the special effects team was on schedule, and post-production wouldn't be too slow. If it passes the censorship quickly, it could be aired after the Spring Festival, just over half a year from now."
Nicholas paused, then smiled as he leaned on the desk. "Have you unilaterally fallen for Jessica? I've seen it with my own eyes. You can't fake the way you look at her. What's going on between you two? Did you know her before, or meet after your accident? But that's not what matters. What matters is, how do you feel about her? Do you like having her on your mind all the time? Do you enjoy her smile?”
“Does your heart race and hormones surge when you see her, unable to control your desires, with vivid images of intimacy between you in your mind, wanting to hold her, kiss her, and possess her?"
Nicholas suddenly spoke with a deep, slow voice, "Do you want... to communicate deeply, to completely have her?"
Gabriel didn't deny it. Looking at Nicholas with a gaze full of desire, he said expressionlessly, "I've just realized you have good observation skills. Stay in the business world and cultivate yourself well. You might become a rare talent in the future."
"No, no!" Nicholas quickly turned serious. "I'll keep an eye on Jessica for you during this time. When the time comes, you'll let me go! The noble medical profession needs me and can't lose me!"
Gabriel ignored him, picking up a paper file from the desk.
Once again, Nicholas heavily placed his hands on the desk, "But you have to give me an idea. Should I treat her like a sister-in-law or just casually as a woman you temporarily fancy? I need to know. Are you genuinely fond of Jessica?"
Gabriel's hand paused slightly as he was about to open the file. His gaze also stopped on the cover page.
After a moment of serious contemplation, he calmly said, "When have I ever been casual?"
Nicholas immediately understood, then with a half-knowing expression, he jokingly said, "She's under my control. Aren't you afraid I might snatch her away?"
Gabriel coldly opened the file in his hand. "You also need to have the skills to whisk her away."
As Nicholas left the office, Gabriel looked at the envelope on the desk, silent for a moment.
Wayne knocked on the door again to deliver some documents. As he walked past, he suddenly met Gabriel's gaze, which lifted. His steps involuntarily paused, and he thought he might have made a mistake at work. His face tensed.
Gabriel paid no attention to Wayne's slightly fearful expression and asked, "When a man finds a woman charming in every aspect, attracting his attention in every way, does that mean he really likes her?"
Unlike Landon, Wayne didn't involve himself much in Mr. Harriman's personal matters. He was a diligent employee whose mind was mostly occupied with work, spending most of his time at the company. Walking in with thoughts about yesterday's meeting report and how to make a more comprehensive summary, he was caught off guard by such a question, standing there with a stack of files for several seconds before reacting.
Looking back at Gabriel, Wayne cleared his throat, finally figuring out Mr. Harriman's question, but he couldn't understand why Mr. Harriman suddenly brought up such a personal question. Normally, Mr. Harriman, a serious and aloof person, rarely mentioned anything unrelated to work in the company. Was he facing some emotional dilemma?
Mr. Harriman? Emotions? Dilemma?
It dawned on Wayne that just as he was about to respond, Gabriel withdrew his gaze and said before Wayne could speak, "I was just asking. There's no need to answer; just leave the documents."
Wayne dared not say anything more.
Gabriel added, "You can go now."
Wayne set down the stack of documents and turned to leave, but his mind was filled with doubts. 'Mr. Harriman was preoccupied with a woman one day.'
The luxurious automatic door of the CEO's office opened and closed, and Wayne had already left.
Gabriel picked up the envelope on the desk. Apart from the items returned by Jessica, there were no extra words inside, and the envelope was clean.
After a moment of contemplation, he tossed the envelope aside and took out his cellphone to send a WhatsApp message to Jessica.
Gabriel: [What time will you be home tonight?]
