Chapter 435 In a Way That No One Dared to Imagine

Danielle blinked at Michael and took a brave step forward.

Michael bent down, staring at her like she was some kind of treasure he'd never seen before. As Danielle got closer, Michael, with his red eyes and runny nose from a slight cold, trembled as he touched her little face.

He was making sure she was real.

The touch under his hand was Danielle's soft, warm little face.

Michael couldn't believe it. He placed his hands on either side of her ears, gently holding her head, looking at her seriously. "She really does look a lot like Gabriel when he was little. Why didn't I see it back then? She looked familiar, but I just didn't think in that way. My great-granddaughter, my little great-granddaughter."

As he spoke, he stroked Danielle's hair, his old eyes full of excitement. Then he looked up at Seraphina, who had been keeping a stern face. "How did you end up together?"

"What's the point of asking so many useless questions? I'm Danielle's great-grandmother. I saw the child before you did. What's wrong with that? Gabriel has always been sensible since he was young and didn't hold grudges against you. If it were me, I wouldn't let you see the child for the rest of your life!" Seraphina turned and said, "Jessica, say whatever you need to say right here. I support you!"

Seeing the two elderly people getting excited over the child and secretly arguing with each other, Jessica felt a bit dazed. Her thoughts lagged for a moment and by the time she came to her senses, Seraphina had already pulled her to the front, clearly back to give Michael a hard time.

Could Seraphina know everything?

Jessica couldn't help but look back at Gabriel, who calmly gave her a reassuring glance.

He always seemed calm and unruffled, yet he repeatedly smoothed out everything for her in ways she never dared to imagine.

His words never revealed any emotional waves, but at critical moments, he always paved every path for her unexpectedly.

Seraphina continued to scold Michael, "Danielle is a Harriman family child. This has been confirmed. Let me ask you, what's wrong with Jessica? The two of them are perfectly fine together and you just have to interfere? How many years do you think people have to waste? Do you think everyone is like me, willing to never contradict you? Gabriel is usually so busy that he rarely has time to rest, and it's hard for him to have someone who cares about him. Do you still want to break them up?"

Seraphina seemed to have been brewing this for a long time, just waiting to come back and have a big quarrel with Michael. Not to mention these few sentences, it seemed that even if she stood here and scolded him all day, she could do it without any words repeated.

Jessica thought secretly, Seraphina, who had appeared elegant and dignified all her life, could also hate her husband for a lifetime because of being angered by him and couldn't help but scold him when they met.

Michael acted as if he was deaf, completely ignoring Seraphina's rapid "attacks," only looking at Danielle and asking, "Little Danielle, when did you meet that old lady?"

Danielle looked back at her great-grandmother, then turned her face back and honestly said, "Yesterday."

Michael, hearing this, finally raised his eyebrows in satisfaction and glanced at Seraphina. "Just one day earlier than me, what's there to brag about? If you have the guts, stay abroad and never come back. I guarantee you won't see your great-granddaughter until you're dead."

"That's none of your concern. You'll die before I do, for sure!"

"Hah, look at your white hair, looking like you're about to kick the bucket. You probably won't outlive me."

"This is how I stay healthy. I've never dyed my hair in my life! Do you understand?"

"With your bad temper, you call that healthy living?"

The two elderly folks started bickering, and Danielle stood in the middle, looking confused. She raised her little hand and gently shook Michael's arm. "Grandpa, don't argue with great-grandmother! I like great-grandmother! She's so nice!"

Seraphina instantly had a victorious expression, raising her eyebrows in triumph.

Michael immediately looked jealous and glared at Danielle: "I'm not nice? She's your great-grandmother and I'm still your Great-Grandpa!"

Danielle was surprised. "Great-Grandpa?"

"Yes, from now on, call me Great-Grandpa!" Michael, momentarily distracted by Danielle, had no time to deal with Seraphina. He smiled and pinched Danielle's little hand: "Little Danielle, Great-Grandpa wants to tell you..."

"This title of Great-Grandpa can't be called lightly. I think you've lost all sense of humanity in protecting that bit of family reputation. Before seeing the child's paternity test and being completely assured, how can you let her call you that? What if she calls you wrong? Don't think our little Danielle is trying to cling to you!" Seraphina stepped forward to pull Danielle back, trying to keep her away from Michael.

Michael instantly hugged Danielle tightly, not letting her be taken away. "You love stirring up trouble. Stop trying to come between us. This child and I have a deep bond. We met two years ago!"

"You met her two years ago and didn't recognize her. How dare you show off to me?"

"That's because I haven't seen Gabriel's childhood photos for years!"

"Bah, you men are all the same, whether young or old. You never remember what your own kids looked like when they were young. To put it simply, you didn't care about them when they were little. Other families dote on their grandchildren, but you, only knew how to swing your cane and hit others. Years passed, you can't even remember what your own grandson looked like when he was little!"

Michael's expression turned sour, but he didn't argue with Seraphina. He just held onto Danielle tightly.

Danielle didn't understand why she was suddenly being fought over by two elderly people. Leaning in Michael's arms, she looked up blankly and asked, "The teacher said that grandpa and grandma are family, so Great-Grandpa and great-grandmother should be family, too. Why are you arguing?"

Seraphina rolled her eyes at Michael. "Who's family with him?"

"Exactly, we divorced a long time ago. What family? Just a menopausal old lady who talks too much. For decades, she couldn't do anything right, but she was great at putting on airs at home. Now she even wants to take my great-granddaughter away."

As he spoke, Michael suddenly looked at Jessica and pursed his lips before saying, "Grandpa protected you a lot back then. I've lived more than eighty years and I've seen everything. The chances of such coincidences are really rare, but Grandpa didn't bully you. You have to vouch for me on this!"
