Chapter 616 Sweet Extra - Couple Variety Show 101
After breakfast was cleaned up, everyone put on the team uniforms provided by the sponsors and the show's production team.
Even though they were ready to go, the cameras had been rolling since they woke up, capturing everything for easier editing before the show aired.
Once they changed into their uniforms, filming continued. They stood by the beach for some scenic shots, and after the director called out a slogan, they began assigning tasks.
On the first day on the island, they were to play a survival game. The first task was to find hidden fishing tools within a two-mile radius around the island, and then each person would go to a designated spot to fish.
Since there were six groups of guests, there were six fishing spots. They drew lots to decide which spot each group would go to.
The game started now and would end at 10:30 AM. After that, they would tally up the types and weights of the fish caught to determine the budget allocation for the rest of the day.
"Alright, go!" Marshall shouted through a megaphone.
The guests laughed and scattered. Brent was the first to dash off, grabbing a number tag for a fishing spot without even checking which number it was. He stuffed it into his pocket and kept running, but then realized he had forgotten something. He quickly ran back to grab Melissa, who was trailing behind. Melissa, caught off guard, laughed and said, "Slow down, for heaven's sake."
"Slow down? No way! Old Marshall means business. If the budget is as tight as last time, you'll be starving with me again. I can't stand to see my wife go through that!" Brent said as he hurriedly pulled Melissa towards a small hill behind a cave to look for tools.
Maurice and Debra watched the energetic young people with a smile, then calmly picked up a number tag. They noticed that everyone else had already run off, except for Jessica, who was also taking her time.
"Jessica, aren't you in a hurry to find the fishing tools?" Maurice asked.
"No rush. Since the director arranged it this way, there must be at least six sets of tools hidden around. We'll find them no matter what." Jessica smiled as she picked up a tag and asked the older couple, "Which number do you want? I got number 3. What about you?"
"Number 5. I don't think it makes much difference."
"I guess not." Jessica didn't see Gabriel giving her any hints about which number to take, so she figured the production team had made all the fishing spots equal. It didn't matter which one they got, and there was no need for special treatment.
Besides, if there were special treatment, the game wouldn't be fun.
Gabriel knew her well enough to avoid giving her any unnecessary hints.
It was just a show.
She was about to leave the industry, so her image didn't matter.
But the experience did.
She didn't want to go through all this to "act." That would be too exhausting.
"Alright, we'll head over there first." Jessica pointed to the other side of the hill and quietly told Debra, "The area where we found the living tools last night and the nearby bushes must have something hidden. I got up early and saw some staff passing by there. It's relatively flat, so you should look there."
Debra smiled gratefully. "Thanks, you're so thoughtful."
Jessica smiled back and was about to head towards Gabriel when she saw him walking over. He glanced at the number tag in her hand, then looked at her face. Seeing that she didn't look as pale as she did when she was feeling sick in the morning, he took the tag and accompanied her to search on the other side.
