Chapter 489 Shouting with Red Eyes and a Hoarse Voice

"Gabriel, wake up, can you hear me?" Jessica asked nervously.

Amidst the billowing smoke, Jessica tried to pull Gabriel up, wanting to drag him further away from the inferno. But her damp scarf had fallen off her face, and the thick smoke around them made her breathing erratic. The thin oxygen was barely enough for them to escape.

Fighting off dizziness, she kept her hand pressed between Gabriel's upper lip and nose, hoarsely saying, "Gabriel, don't sleep, open your eyes and look at me! You can't sleep..."

The heat from the inferno and the continuous popping sounds from the gasoline explosions seemed to pull Jessica back to that dark, silent, terrifying night seven years ago. She clung to him tightly, her other hand pressing between his upper lip and nose, "Gabriel!"

Jessica glanced back at the third-floor window they had just jumped from, which was completely engulfed by flames. The height of the building and the interior were much taller than typical residences. If Gabriel hadn't taken all the impact from the fall for her, she would probably have broken her limbs by now.

Even so, she felt as if her entire body was about to break from the intense collision. Her ears, head, and body were all in pain.

Let alone Gabriel, who had taken her weight when they landed, and he had inhaled so much smoke!

Jessica dared not to think about it. A fear greater than the one she felt in the inferno enveloped her. She gritted her teeth and forced herself to stand, trying to drag Gabriel away from the dangerous edge of the fire. But after exerting a lot of effort, she only managed to move him three or four feet away before stumbling and nearly collapsing.

The fire was too intense, and gasoline was added. It was still too dangerous here, and the smoke was too thick.

He needed oxygen; he needed fresh air to breathe.

She could barely hear the distant roar of cars, and she couldn't see them because the fire was too intense for them to get through.

As Jessica desperately dragged Gabriel for another two feet, a somewhat familiar voice suddenly sounded behind her, "Ms. Jenner?"

Jessica turned her head woodenly at the sound, seeing Landon running towards them from a distance after getting out of a car. Her eyes reddened, and she hoarsely shouted, "Landon, help! Come quickly, help!"

Landon rushed forward, followed by two others. Seeing Jessica's disheveled state and her face blackened by smoke, and Gabriel lying motionless on the ground, he immediately sensed something was wrong, "Quickly, get Mr. Harriman and Mrs. Harriman back to the car and to the hospital!"

Hearing the words "to the hospital," Jessica finally regained some sense. The intense pain in her chest and limbs spread through her nerves as she stared at Gabriel being helped up.

"Mrs. Harriman!" Landon came over to support Jessica, "Get in the car quickly; there might be a secondary explosion here!"

Jessica didn't speak. As she was being helped to the car, she suddenly turned to look at the inferno behind her. She vaguely heard the sound of fire trucks nearby, but they were probably at the front entrance. This was the back of the building, surrounded by a chaotic mess of debris. The flames seemed to swallow half the sky, and the black smoke obscured her vision.

"Mrs. Harriman." Landon immediately caught Jessica as she suddenly fainted, opening the car door and helping her inside.

Jessica was trapped in a nightmare that she couldn't wake from. She knew it was a dream, but she couldn't wake up or open her eyes. She couldn't get rid of it.

The scenes in the darkness seemed to rewind continuously, pulling her back to the inferno in that small motel seven years ago.

"Help! Help." S voice reappeared in front her.

Everything kept rewinding. She became the little girl curled up in the corner of the Jenner Estate in Xyleria.

She was very cold, but she didn't cry. She just hugged her thin clothes and hid in the corner, watching the happy family of three.

Even though she was sitting right there, the family of three seemed not to see her, and neither did the servants.

The family of three chatted happily together, but she couldn't hear them. It seemed like someone was calling her.

Calling her mommy.

Little Jessica looked up blankly and saw a pretty, cute little girl standing in front of her, smiling at her. The little girl had two cute pigtails and sparkling, playful eyes. She waved at Jessica, "Mommy, don't be sad. When you grow up, you'll have me and daddy. Mommy, I miss you. When will you and daddy come back..."

Little Jessica looked at the little girl and, unknowingly intended to reach out to touch her. The little girl stood stilland even raised her little hand to touch Jessica's hand, "Mommy, daddy and I will always be with you. We are a family. If anyone dares to bully you, Danielle will fight them for you! Mommy, when will you grow up?"

Growing up? Hadn't she already grown up?

Why was she back in the cold Jenner Estate in Xyleria?

These deeply ingrained nightmares had been lurking in her memory all these years.

Jessica stood up from the corner, walked into the warmly lit living room, looked at the family of three who seemed not to see her, held Danielle's little hand, and walked out of the Jenner Estate in Xyleria, expressionless.

Outside was a stage filled with flowers and applause. Gabriel, wearing a black coat, was waiting for her below. He seemed to be surrounded by a glowing aura, handsome and elegant, with twinkling star lights around him.

Just as she was about to walk over, a sudden inferno swallowed everything in front of her.

Jessica's face changed dramatically, "Gabriel!"

Jessica suddenly opened her eyes, and the intense pain in her body surged up instantly. The surroundings were dark, and sweat immediately broke out on her forehead. She looked around blankly, having no idea about where she was, but the pain reminded her she was back in reality. The nightmare had ended, but the pain reminded her that another nightmare was not over yet.

The lights in the hospital room suddenly came on. Rebecca, who had been sleeping nearby, looked at Jessica with the remote control for the lights in her hand. She quickly put down the remote and got up, "Jessica, you're awake?"
