Chapter 199 She Clearly Just Took a Shower

In the evening, as usual, Jessica went back to her room to rest after dinner. Around eight o'clock, she had just taken a shower and was about to call Caroline, hoping to video chat with her before Danielle went to bed.

Just as she picked up her phone, there was a sudden knock on the door.

Jessica thought it was the crew coming to discuss the details of the next day's shoot. Her hair still wet, wrapped in a towel, she checked her bathrobe to make sure everything was in place before opening the door.

To her surprise, standing outside was Ernest Bell, the third male lead of "Honey Ferris Wheel."

When Ernest saw the door open, his eyes immediately fell on Jessica's bathrobe. As he noticed she had just taken a shower, his eyes lit up, and he held up a box of small cakes out of blue and said, "Mrs. Jenner, may I come in?"

Jessica was speechless.

Seeing her standing at the door with no intention of letting him in and a clear look of caution in her eyes, Ernest smiled and said, "We have a few scenes together tomorrow. I'm still a newcomer in the industry, and my acting skills aren't great. Today, I heard the director praise your acting many times, Ms. Jenner. Since we finished early today, I thought I'd come over to rehearse with you so that tomorrow's shoot can go more smoothly. I thought you might like these cakes since girls usually have sweet teeth. I bought them from a nearby dessert shop."

Jessica glanced at the cakes in his hand and then looked back at him. "We can rehearse, but no need for the cakes."

"Then may I come in?"

"Please wait a moment."

Jessica turned back into the room, put on a coat, and casually tied her wet hair into a bun before opening the door to let him in.

Ernest entered with the cakes and script, and Jessica instinctively said, "We can rehearse quietly; no need to close the door."

Before she could finish, the door was abruptly shut.

Jessica's face immediately turned cold. "Men and women are different, Mr. Bell. We're not kids; there's no need to put each other in an awkward position. Let's keep the door open."

It was rumored that Ernest had harassed actresses in other crews before. Although it was just hearsay without concrete evidence, she didn't want to get involved with someone like that or cause any scandals.

Given her current popularity on Facebook, even a slightly misleading photo could be used against her, with many people waiting to see her make a mistake. They would love to have a 24-hour surveillance camera on her.

Ernest smiled gently。 "Rehearsing requires focus. With the door open, people walking by can be distracting. Besides, you just took a shower and haven't fully recovered from your cold, so it's better not to leave the door open."

Jessica had already walked past him and opened the door, pulling a chair to keep it propped open.

She turned to Ernest, who was holding the script but clearly not focused on the rehearsal. "We don't have many scenes together. Let me see your lines. It's late. Let's get this over with quickly."

In Ernest's impression, Jessica had been in a weak position since her first day on set, constantly being criticized by Donna, with no one in the director's team supporting her. Jessica must be having a hard time in this crew, with no ability to fight back. Plus, after seeing her weak and helpless state after falling into the water yesterday, he thought she would be easy to manipulate. To his surprise, she was not at all like he had imagined. She was straightforward and seemed to have a clear grasp of everything.

It seemed he wouldn't be able to take advantage of her at all.

Jessica indeed didn't want to waste words with him. After glancing at his script for a few moments, she quickly explained the state of mind he needed to have for the scene.

After talking for a while, she looked up and saw that Ernest's eyes were not on the script at all but were fixed on her.

Jessica tried to be patient and asked, "Do you understand? Can we start rehearsing?"

Ernest hadn't listened at all but nodded and said, "Yes, we can."

Jessica stood up and began to get into her lines, trying to find the right feeling. Suddenly, she heard the sound of a chair being moved. She turned to see Ernest had moved the chair that was propping the door open and had shut the door with a bang.

Jessica's expression changed. "Why did you close the door again?"

"Ms. Jenner, actually, I came over tonight to talk to you about something else." Ernest looked at her with a face full of affection and walked closer. "To be honest, Ms. Jenner, both your looks and personality hit all my aesthetic points. I've been interested in you since the first day of filming.

"If Ms. Jenner is still single, would you consider me?

"You see, we still have three months of filming ahead. We're both adults and if we appreciate and like each other, we can do so."

Seeing Ernest getting closer step by step, with blatant desire in his eyes, Jessica felt a chill run down her spine. She slammed the script onto the table beside her and said coldly, "I'm warning you, don't take another step. I'm not interested in you, OK?"

"Ms. Jenner, you don't seem like a cold person. Adults have their ways of dealing with loneliness. We don't have much time to get to know each other, but we both understand it's just about enjoyment, right?" Ernest took another step forward.

Jessica sneered. Her pepper spray was right beside her, easy to grab.

But this was a place rented by the crew, and Ernest was a fellow actor. Making a scene wouldn't do her any good.

She warned, "Either we focus on our work and stay out of each other's way, or I report you for sexual harassment. Think carefully, which one do you choose?"

Ernest laughed, thinking he was charming, and reached out to hug Jessica. She dodged, and he ended up leaning on the table. Jessica had already jumped far away, moving with an agility that belied her recent about of fever and cold from falling into the water.

Ernest looked at her and laughed. "No need to pretend anymore, right? Today, when Kevin showed interest in you, I saw you didn't refuse. You're just another actress in the entertainment industry chasing fame and fortune. You've probably slept with many men. Do you really need to act so high and mighty?"

"Are you leaving or not?" Jessica didn't want to waste words.

Ernest turned around, straightened his collar, and walked towards her again. "Why don't you think it over? After all, the next three months in the crew will be quite empty and boring... Ah!"

Jessica kicked him between the legs, and as he stumbled back, she grabbed her phone and dialed the police. Holding up the phone, she looked at him expressionlessly. "Are you going to leave on your own, or should I call the police?"

Seeing that she was really not giving in, Ernest gritted his teeth in anger, took a few steps back, and, standing at the door, gave her the middle finger. "Fine, you're tough!"

With that, he endured the pain and stormed out, slamming the door behind him!
