Chapter 548 Sweet Extras of Couple Variety Show 33

Everyone thought Gabriel was heading back to the car to grab something or take a break because he didn't want to stay in a tent. But after confirming with the production team that they had to earn all the supplies themselves, he stopped communicating with them and started wandering around the area near the bed and breakfast.

This place was near the Harmony City tourist area, but not in the main hotspot. There were some tourists, but not too many. Most people around were shop owners, employees, or residents. There were a few vegetable and fruit gardens fenced off here and there. About a mile away, there was an old-fashioned supermarket.

The show didn't allow guests to carry cash or use mobile payments. A bottle of mosquito repellent cost five bucks. After learning the price, Gabriel didn't say much and glanced at the ice chest in the store. The ice chest was an old model, often accumulating thick layers of ice that needed to be cleared to make more space.

The supermarket owner, a middle-aged woman, needed to go home to cook for a bedridden elderly family member. Gabriel offered to watch the store for her. The supermarket had never hired anyone and was very frugal. The owner considered that she really couldn't leave the store unattended, and Gabriel, a good-looking, strong young man, seemed reliable. Plus, he had a camera crew following him, so he was probably one of the people filming the show nearby. Maybe he was a celebrity.

The owner, impressed by Gabriel's politeness and looks, agreed to let him watch the store for an hour, but only offered ten bucks for the hour.

Gabriel didn't mind the low wage; it was enough to buy Jessica a bottle of mosquito repellent.

Before leaving, the owner noticed Gabriel looking at the ice chest again and had an idea. "How about this? If you clear the ice from the chest within the hour, I'll give you an extra ten bucks."

Clearing the ice was a tough job, and hiring someone else would cost at least twenty or thirty bucks.

Gabriel nodded and agreed, "Sure."

The owner, delighted, quickly handed him a scraper and left.

After she left, Gabriel looked around the store and, seeing no customers, started clearing the ice.

The owner's seventeen-year-old daughter, who had been doing homework in the back room, came out. She had heard the conversation but was too busy to pay attention. Seeing Gabriel scraping ice, she blushed and quickly fetched a large foam box to help him. As she helped, she shyly asked, "Are you one of the stars from the show next door? What have you acted in?"

Gabriel took the foam box but didn't respond. The girl, undeterred, brought him two popsicles, offering them with a smile. Gabriel politely declined, focused on the tough job of clearing the ice. He gave her a look that suggested she should step back, and she quickly moved aside, still sneaking glances at him.
