Chapter 623 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 108
Jessica looked at Rachel with a calm expression, her words clear and deliberate, "What started as a small issue has somehow escalated into a different kind of conflict. I'm really curious, why is that? We didn't ask for special treatment, but it seems like someone is deliberately trying to make it seem that way. Did I ever say I wanted to rest?"
"Jessica, I think you might be overreacting a bit. That's not what I meant. I just noticed you seemed unwell this morning, maybe from heat exhaustion or something, so I thought Mr. Harriman could take you to rest," Rachel replied, maintaining her gentle smile.
"I'm fine. Besides, when we were looking for fishing gear earlier, we ended up at the top and saw the villa's yard. We even cracked the code and went inside to check it out. Although there aren't many rooms, the combined space of the rooms and the living room is enough for all of us. Even if we have to sleep on the floor or the couch with sleeping bags, it's more comfortable than the cave. So, when I got the choice, I immediately thought we should all stay in the villa tonight. As for sleeping arrangements, I suggest the men and women sleep separately, which would make it easier to organize the rooms."
Jessica glanced at Rachel and Lester, who both looked a bit uncomfortable. "I don't really understand. Even though it's a game, rules are still rules. Has the world become so chaotic that the only person following the rules is considered wrong?"
Rachel's face showed a hint of confrontation as she looked at Jessica and smiled, "I never said that. Are you implying that we're all wrong, Jessica?"
Cindy suddenly interjected, "Enough with the right and wrong. Rachel, why are you and Lester harping on this? Jessica is right. We messed up, so should we blame the one person who didn't join in our mess? That's not how it works. Jessica also mentioned that she observed the villa's size, meaning she thought about how great it would be if we could all stay there from the start. Otherwise, she wouldn't have checked it out. And even if we have to sleep in the cave, it's not a big deal. We signed up for this show, so even if we have to sleep outside, we have to deal with it. The game rules are the show rules, no need to make a fuss."
Melissa, wanting to change the subject, moved closer to Jessica and asked, "Jessica, is there a fridge in there? It's so hot, we could really use some cold water tonight."
Jessica leaned in and whispered to Melissa, "Not only is there a fridge, but it's also fully stocked."
Melissa immediately understood and quickly turned to pull Brent away before he could join the conversation and potentially start arguing with Lester again.
Seeing the atmosphere turn against him, Lester shrugged and made a gesture of surrender. "Alright, I shouldn't have caused trouble. I was stating facts, not targeting anyone." He then moved closer to Amy, seemingly trying to explain himself in a low voice.
Amy quickly tried to move away.
Kevin suddenly spoke up in a cool tone, "If you weren't targeting anyone, then let's leave it at that. It's time to prepare lunch. But Lester, do you and Rachel always talk to people like this? Have you ever considered maintaining a polite distance when speaking to others?"
