Chapter 478 The Small Figure Curl Up in the Corner
Gabriel stood still, not dodging, but glanced at her with a smile.
Jessica originally intended to run after throwing the snow, but seeing that he didn't move, she couldn't help but look at him again.
Gabriel's head and handsome face were covered with the snow she had just thrown. He stood motionless in the wind and snow, the indulgence in his eyes and his reluctance to argue with her were all obvious. The sunlight cast a tall, long shadow behind him in the snow.
Next to Gabriel's shadow, another figure playfully grabbed a handful of snow and threw it directly at his collar at this time.
Gabriel finally dodged to avoid the snow getting into his collar. He suddenly let out an ambiguous laugh, casually stuffed her knitted scarf into the pocket of his iron-gray coat, and without caring about his image, his eyes filled with a thick sense of danger. "Are you sure you want to play like this?"
"I..." Jessica slowly retreated with a wary look, even though Gabriel's eyes clearly saw through her actions. She still had a bit of wishful thinking as she continued to move back slowly. Suddenly, she grabbed another handful of snow and screamed, "I'm sure!"
After throwing the snow at him, she laughed and shouted as she tried to run. But Gabriel, with his long legs, easily caught her back into his arms after just one step.
Jessica laughed and struggled, turning her head to see that he actually had a ball of snow in his hand. She hadn't even noticed when he grabbed it.
Was he going to take revenge on her?
"No, it's cold, too cold." Jessica raised her hand to cover her neck, struggling, afraid that he would really stuff the snow into her collar.
Gabriel held her down, pretending to stuff the snow into her collar. Jessica continued to scream until Gabriel pressed her against a tree. The impending action scared her, making her shoulders shrink. However, instead of the expected coldness, Gabriel suddenly leaned down and kissed the corner of her mouth.
Jessica lifted her eyelids, looking at Gabriel's face . She blinked, reached back to touch the snow on the trunk, suddenly grabbed a handful, and with a mischievous smile, pushed it hard against his hand, knocking the snow out of his hand and then slapped her own snow onto his face.
Gabriel's action paused at her unexpected close-range attack, then he stood there with a dangerous look, glancing at her.
Jessica laughed and screamed as she ran away, as if afraid he would indeed get angry and start a snowball fight with her. She ran while grabbing snow from the ground, holding a snowball in one hand, ready to defend and attack at any moment.
She ran about two or three hundred feet away, just circling around the lake behind them. Looking back, she saw Gabriel following unhurriedly. From this distance, she couldn't see if he had snowballs in his hand, nor did she know what mood Gabriel was in after being provoked. She cautiously held onto the snowball and hid under the porch by the lake.
This was almost the end of the Jenner Estate's backyard.
Jessica suddenly heard some noise inside.
At first, she didn't pay much attention, still observing Gabriel's approaching figure. She turned and walked further into the porch, hearing the sounds of several girls, seemingly laughing and mocking, mixed with sobbing.
"Hey, I told you not to move, why are you running?" A voice came to her.
"At such a young age, you already intend to find someone capable to protect you? The Jenner family can't protect you? Well, even though you're part of the Jenner family, you don't actually have the surname, right? Your useless mother insisted on marrying a man without a job against Donald's wishes. After an unhappy marriage and domestic violence, she brought you back to the Jenner Villa after the divorce, giving you the surname.
But how could the Jenner family really treat a daughter of a gambling addict and abuser as their own? Claiming to be a Jenner family lady, but at such a young age... How old are you? Sixteen? Or seventeen? In last month, you caused a scene at the Saunders family banquet, splashing wine all over the Saunders family heir, and then got taken away claiming you were still a kid. Do you know how many of us missed the chance to speak at the event because of your disruption?
"Stand still! Are you afraid of us? Aren't you the Jenner family lady? Your mother almost severed ties with the Jenner family to marry a loser, and later brought you back to avoid starving. What are you pretending to be a lady for?" the voice added.
Jessica initially thought it was just some kids from visiting families messing around, and was about to walk away, but the more she listened, the more she felt something was wrong.
Then she heard the low sobbing turn into light crying.
"Why are you crying? Do you have the nerve to cry? We're going to take a picture of you like this. Mr. Saunders didn't even see your face clearly when you splashed him, nor did he know you were just a kid. Come on, turn around and let us take a picture. We'll show Mr. Saunders what kind of person you are. Didn't you dare to strip and rush up at such a young age, even pulling at Mr. Saunders' clothes? Now let's strip you clean and take a picture for him to see. Stop crying, stop pretending to be pitiful, turn your face so we can take a good picture!" the voice continued.
Jessica looked inside and saw three well-dressed young girls surrounding a thin, poorly dressed girl squatting in the corner. The snow around her was scattered with the girl's coat and sweater dress, now she was only wearing a thin shirt, with the collar torn, exposing mostly of her shoulders and legs. Her long hair was messy, and she was shivering and crying.
Seeing the girl's state and her red face from being slapped, one of the girls was lifting her chin, forcing her to pose for a photo.
The girl in the corner was trembling with fear but didn't dare to stand up. The three girls surrounding her were laughing maliciously, "Stop hiding, I'm warning you, stop hiding. We'll leave after taking the picture. It's rare to come to the Jenner Estate with our families today, and we finally caught you. Let's see where you can hide now!"
The scene in front of her overlapped with the small figure curled up in the corner of the Jenner Estate twenty years ago.
In that instant, Jessica's rationality snapped for a moment. She suddenly kicked open the small door between the end of the porch and the corner, the door slamming against the wall with a loud bang, echoing at the end of the Jenner Estate's backyard.
