Chapter 502 Why Doesn't He Come over Directly?

Rebecca walked in.

Aaron heard the sound and turned to look at her. "Where did you go just now?"

"I went back to Jessica's place to read for a while," Rebecca answered honestly, still looking at Aaron with a bit of trepidation, much like the last time she was called out of the hospital and heard his voice on the phone, feeling weak and scared.

Aaron didn't ask her why she was staying with Jessica; perhaps he already knew all the ins and outs of the Jenner family.

He glanced at Rebecca and asked indifferently, "Where's Jessica?"

Rebecca lowered her head, nervously twisting her fingers together. "I don't know, but I didn't see her when I went to her place. The servant said the family just sent a car to take her to the hospital."

"The hospital?"

"Yes."

"To see Gabriel?"

"Yes."

"Gabriel still hasn't woken up?"

"No." Rebecca looked at him blankly, not understanding why he was asking. "Jessica hasn't been allowed into the ICU yet. Mr. Harriman's condition is too unstable, and the room requires a high level of sterility, so no one can go in. Jessica can only occasionally look through the glass from outside. There have been several times when Jessica woke up from nightmares in the middle of the night, still calling Mr. Harriman's name."

Aaron understood. "What does she usually do in her room?"

"Most of the time, she's reading scripts, some variety show scripts, or chatting with her studio people on Facebook about her schedule."

Aaron frowned and looked at Rebecca suspiciously. "Just work?"

"Jessica's room door is usually open, so I can often go to her, but it's not convenient to be there all the time. At least when I can see her, she is indeed busy with these things. She just went to record a variety show recently and was so exhausted that she went straight to bed after taking a shower without saying a word to me," Rebecca answered obediently.

Under Aaron's indifferent gaze, Rebecca took a deep breath and added, "But when Jessica goes out to work, I can't follow her, just like today when she went to the hospital. I can't stick to her all the time."

Aaron suddenly walked over to her, looking down at the nervous Rebecca, whose face had turned pale. "Did you hear my conversation with your mother just now?"

Rebecca nodded.

"Rebecca, you have a long life ahead of you. Do you know what you should do?"

"I know."

"I'll ask you again. Has Jessica contacted anyone privately? You've been by her side for so many days, especially when she was in the hospital. Who else did she see in her room?" Aaron's voice was very low, sounding calm but with an underlying tone of distrust and coldness.

Rebecca took a step back in fear, choking on her words. "I only saw her agent and the boss of her studio come to see her. During that time, Jessica investigated the surveillance footage before the fire at Golden Fortune Restaurant but didn't find anything. Later, she has been at home these days. Besides occasionally going out for work, she just goes to the hospital to see Mr. Harriman."

Aaron narrowed his eyes coldly. "The variety show she went to, is the director's last name Stewart?"

Rebecca's eyes turned red with fear. She was almost crying. "Uncle Aaron, I really don't know. Jessica wouldn't tell me everything. I can only know what I can see and hear. I don't know anyone with the last name Stewart, but Jessica often contacts a director whose last name seems to be Campbell. She calls him Nolan. I've never heard of anyone named Stewart. Maybe they're not close, or they don't contact each other privately outside of work, so I really don't know."

Aaron looked at her for a while longer. Seeing that Rebecca was already in tears, he didn't say more. He glanced at Natalie, who didn't look very well, and walked out expressionlessly.

It wasn't until Aaron walked away that Rebecca raised her hand to wipe her tears and looked at Natalie.

Natalie asked her softly, "Did you tell the truth just now?"

Rebecca nodded lightly. "Yes."

"I thought you were so focused on Jessica recently that you wouldn't betray her." Natalie's expression was a bit complicated. She sighed for the lack of peace even in their environment.

Rebecca wiped her tears again and gave Natalie a look that made her understand. "Sister told me to say what I saw and not to hide anything. She said Aaron probably already knew these things, so just saying what I saw would prevent him from targeting us."

Natalie was silent for a while before saying, "Gabriel still hasn't woken up. If he never wakes up and the Harriman family gets involved, no one will have a good outcome, especially Jessica. She'll be caught in a dilemma, unable to breathe. Now that she's lost Gabriel as her support, it's uncertain whether the Harriman family will protect her. Do you really want to support her?"

Rebecca nodded.

Natalie sighed. "I understand."

After visiting the hospital, Jessica didn't leave through the main entrance, because Aaron must have had someone following her secretly to know where she was and what she was doing.

Landon helped her open a rarely used door at the back of the hospital's fire escape. She went to the Marshall family's tea house by car, and met with Marshall. Also invited to the tea house were several former leaders of Manhattan Construction, invited by Marshall.

After dinner, Jessica returned to the hospital, entered through the back door, and left through the main entrance before dark, returning to the Jenner family.

Two days later, Jessica accompanied Mackenzie and Lynn to the auto repair shop to pick up their car. Mackenzie and Lynn kept asking about how Jessica managed to rear-end someone while driving alone late at night, making them uncomfortable taking other cars in Washington these past two days. They said the car from their studio was the most comfortable and convenient.

Just as they were about to leave the auto repair shop, two men who were also there to pick up Keegan's Mercedes SUV.

The car was parked outside. As Jessica was about to get into her own car, one of the men came over and politely said, "Ms. Jenner, we're here to pick up Mr. Chloe's car. Mr. Chloe's nearby. He knows you're here and wants to meet you."

Jessica looked at them. "Why doesn't he come over directly? Why do you need to relay the message?"

The man glanced around, looking at the cars parked nearby, then gave her a look and whispered, "It's inconvenient."
