Chapter 200: Jing Jihan, Come to the Rescue

Chapter 200 Come to the Rescue

Gabriel stepped out of the hotel elevator, with Wayne following behind him.

Initially, Xyleria Nightshade Group, in collaboration with several private enterprises, secured the development rights for the Sunshine Bay City tourism project. They established a development and construction company here, holding 51% of the shares, while the remaining 49% were held by the Xyleria Construction Bureau. The shares were controlled by the Nightshade Group, putting the Construction Bureau at a disadvantage.

However, due to internal policy errors within the Nightshade Group, the collapse of corporate culture, and the company nearing bankruptcy, there was a power shift. The new leader believed that the Sunshine Bay City development project was too time-consuming and beyond his budget. Fearing the high investment risk, he decided to withdraw, even at a loss, and exited the competition for the Sunshine Bay City development.

The Xyleria Construction Bureau did not want to let this lucrative opportunity slip away to outsiders. The Harriman Group was their biggest financial backer. Since the Harriman Group personally planned the development of the Xyleria New District, they naturally insisted on partnering with the Harriman Group for the Sunshine Bay City development as well.

Gabriel had little interest in this project, but a few old board members who were still in office were very interested. They took it upon themselves to sign an agreement with the Construction Bureau, securing the development rights for the Sunshine Bay City project.

Gabriel had never personally intervened in this project. This time, city leaders were visiting Sunshine Bay City, and he was invited. He initially did not plan to come, but eventually, he was in Sunshine Bay City.

Since getting out of the car, Wayne had been by Gabriel's side, explaining the situation here and discussing the itinerary for the Sunshine Bay City visit.

As the elevator doors opened, Wayne followed Gabriel, saying, "Urban Oasis Hotel is the largest star-rated hotel in Sunshine Bay City. Currently, other city leaders are also staying here. However, since this is a newly developed tourist town and the old board members didn't have much funding at the time, the hotel development wasn't very lavish. This hotel doesn't have a presidential suite; the suites on the eighth floor are all standard high-end business rooms. If you find it uncomfortable, we can consider switching to another hotel tomorrow."

They walked to the door of the reserved room, and Wayne respectfully handed over the room card.

Gabriel took the room card and suddenly heard a loud noise from the room opposite. A man came out, muttering angrily under his breath, saying things like "bitch," "acting pure," and "how could she kick me hard."

Wayne instinctively stepped forward to block the rude man from approaching Gabriel.

Ernest noticed people in front of the opposite room but didn't pay much attention. He picked up his phone and sent a voice message to someone, saying, "Jessica is a bit difficult to deal with. You guys should find someone else; I can't handle her!

"I've tried everything. I even got into the room, but Jessica wasn't scared at all. She was very guarded and wouldn't even let me close the door at first!

"Put in a good word for me with Mr. Nelson. It's not my fault; Jessica just doesn't fall for this. I didn't even have time to take any evidence before she kicked me out...

"I'll explain to Ms. Martin later, but I have no way to deal with Jessica!"

Ernest walked away, still muttering, "Damn, she almost killed me with that kick."

Ernest wasn't a main character and didn't stay on this floor. After he got into the elevator, the hallway returned to silence.

Wayne was shocked, not daring to speak, but internally, he was extremely shaken.

'Jessica?

'Which Jessica?

'Is it the one I met at the company and Blue Bay Apartments?

'Yes. That Jessica?'

Gabriel expressionlessly took the room card back into his palm and turned his head slightly. "You go rest first," he said.

Wayne, stunned, glanced at the door opposite and then met Gabriel's gaze. His spine chilled instantly, and he quickly said, "Yes, Mr. Harriman, I'm staying downstairs. Contact me anytime if you need anything."

"Alright."

Wayne hurriedly left, not daring to stay a moment longer lest he see or hear something he shouldn't.

Jessica felt Ernest's presence taint the air in the room. Despite the cold weather outside, she opened the window, letting in a gust of cold wind that made her shiver. She noticed the small cake Ernest had brought was still sitting on the table.

Suppressing her disgust, she walked over, picked up the cake, and was about to throw it in the trash when she heard the doorbell ring.

'Again? Fine, perfect timing!' Jessica thought.

Jessica grabbed the cake and quickly walked to the door. Without looking at who was outside, she flung the cake, still in its packaging, at the person, shouting, "Take your cake and get lost!"

She was about to close the door when she suddenly froze, her eyes widening as she turned to see the man standing outside.

Gabriel, quick on his feet, caught the thrown item. Though he wasn't hit, the force of her throw caused some cream to splatter onto his fingers. While he didn't look disheveled, it was clear he wasn't enjoying it.

Jessica fell silent and thought in her heart.

'Who is this?

'Gabriel?

'When did he get here? Why is he here? How long has he been here?'

Jessica, who had been fuming with anger and disgust, now felt a chill from the open window. The cold wind blew through the room, making her shiver as she stood at the door.

Outside, Gabriel stood in a suit, his expression calm. Despite almost being hit with cream, he stood straight and imposing at her door, like a pine tree on a snowy night, which wassilent, cold, and impossible to ignore.

Jessica's lips trembled, and it took her a while to find her voice, "You..."

'This isn't Xyleria; this is Sunshine Bay City. Why is Gabriel here?' Jessica thought.

Before she could ask, Gabriel had already thrown the ruined cake into the trash can by the door and glanced at her coolly. "Do you have any tissues?"

Jessica quickly stepped aside, hurriedly closed the open window, and fetched various wet wipes and tissues, bringing them to him. "Here, you can use these. If they don't work, you can wash your hands."

Gabriel wasn't fussy. He took a wet wipe, cleaned the cream off his hands, and then looked at her. Seeing her with a towel wrapped around her head, a bathrobe, and an overcoat, he didn't comment on her odd appearance. Instead, he walked into her room and threw the used wipe into the trash can by the sofa.

Jessica still found it unbelievable to encounter Gabriel in such a place.

Unable to hold back, she asked, "Why are you in Sunshine Bay City?"

A few days ago, when she was in Xyleria, she ran into Landon near Blue Bay Apartments. Landon mentioned that Gabriel had been busy abroad recently. She didn't ask what he was busy with, as Gabriel's vast business empire was beyond her concern.

Gabriel casually dusted off his sleeve and glanced at her. "To the rescue."
