Chapter 605 Sweet Extra Story of Couple Variety Show 90
"Our production team has equipped every camera with top-of-the-line night vision, so the footage will be clear even in the dark," Marshall said with a cheerful grin. "As for lights, we can provide chandeliers, but they need a big generator we brought along. Of course, there's a fee for the electricity."
Clayton and Cindy were stunned.
Jessica was speechless.
Lester, who had just walked over, couldn't believe his ears. "What kind of reality show did I sign up for?"
Rachel laughed. "Marshall, you're really making us rough it, huh?"
Marshall squinted his eyes with a smile. "It's all set up to give everyone a more memorable experience. Don't worry, the island's safe. As for everything else, you get the idea."
Gabriel noticed the chandeliers were ready, but the power cords were missing the generator.
He turned to Marshall and asked, "So, how are you planning to charge us for electricity?"
Marshall smiled cautiously. "It's simple. The cave is so dark you'll need the lights for at least a few dozen hours over the next couple of days. Our generator can spare an outlet for you, but you'll need to trade the items you just collected."
Jessica looked at the cooking tools in her hands and then at the other contestants, who were all exchanging glances.
The other contestants were holding essential items for island living, none of which could be spared.
"This is..." Melissa and Brent returned, with Brent carrying a dozen sleeping bags from a box. He gestured to everyone and then said, "This is too much. These items are essential, provided by the production team. Are we supposed to give up our sleeping gear or our cooking supplies?"
The sleeping bags Brent held were just enough for each contestant to have one.
Since everyone was staying in a cave, even though it wouldn't rain inside, it wouldn't be very clean and would be quite damp. They couldn't just sleep on the ground like in ancient TV dramas. This wasn't a TV show; it was real life. Without proper sleep, they wouldn't have the energy to continue filming.
So, the sleeping bags were non-negotiable.
Clayton and Cindy had fishing nets and hooks, essential for the fishing and seafood tasks likely planned for the next two days. These items were crucial for their meals and couldn't be given up.
Maurice and Debra had found lighters, matches, and a large bag of dry charcoal, necessary for cooking on the island. These couldn't be handed over either.
Kevin and Amy had brought back a box of folding tables and chairs, small but enough for everyone to take turns sitting down to eat or rest.
Rachel and Lester had raincoats and non-slip shoes, useful for staying dry and safe while moving around the island.
In the end, everyone agreed to trade the raincoats and shoes for electricity. They decided they could avoid going out in the rain and wait for it to stop before venturing out. Rachel and Lester had no objections.
But just as the lights were connected and the cave was illuminated, Marshall stood there with a ledger, smiling. "Let me list the essentials you'll need, like food seasonings. You'll need to trade for those as well."
Everyone groaned. "Marshall, were you a black market dealer in a past life?"
