Chapter 384 Glancing After More Than Two Years

After the family doctor came to check his wound, it was already past 8:30 PM.

After seeing the family doctor off, Jessica glanced at the time and prepared to leave.

"I took leave from 'Shadow Kill' until tomorrow, so I'll come over in the next morning. The day after tomorrow, I have to return to the set to continue filming. If I finish early in the evening, I'll come by. If it's a night shoot, you'll have to contact Sarah to take care of you, or I can ask Caroline to come," Jessica said as she picked up her phone and bag, ready to head out.

Gabriel, with a white semi-transparent medical tape on the back of his hand where he had just received the injection, slowly walked out of the bedroom. "Wait."

Jessica turned around. "What? I'm just here to take care of the patient, not planning to stay overnight. It's already 8:30."

Gabriel pointed with his chin towards the bathroom in the bedroom. "I can't shower myself."

Jessica paused. "The doctor just said you shouldn't get your wound wet for a few days and you just had an injection. It's best not to get it wet in 24 hours."

"That's why I need you to help me shower."

"Help you?" Jessica's eyes were filled with astonishment, confusionand, and even anger. "Gabriel, don't push it!"

Gabriel was completely unaffected by her anger. "I haven't showered since the incident. Now that I'm home, I can't sleep without a shower."

"Didn't I help you wipe down in the hospital these past two days?"

"That was just wiping."

Jessica was furious.

"I'm not helping you shower. Whether you can sleep or not is your problem. I've done my duty. You bear it." Jessica couldn't be bothered with this suddenly finicky person. She wrapped the bag strap around her wrist and continued changing her shoes.

After changing her shoes, she opened the door and walked out without looking back.

Standing in front of the elevator, she watched the numbers gradually rise until the elevator stopped on the 32nd floor and the doors opened.

Jessica stood there for a moment as if her feet were nailed to the ground.

Then she closed her eyes, suddenly turned around, and went back.

Opening the door, she saw Gabriel, who thought she had really left for good, struggling to unbutton his shirt. Although his movements were labored, it was clear he didn't plan to sleep without a shower.

Although Gabriel's cleanliness wasn't extreme, it was still quite serious. Having just been discharged and taken a flight today, he probably couldn't sleep without a shower.

Hearing the door open again, Gabriel turned to look at her, his hand still on the half-unbuttoned shirt.

Jessica, with a blank expression, closed the door, put down her bag, rolled up her sleeves, and walked towards him with a look that seemed ready for a fight. She grabbed Gabriel's arm and half-dragged, half-supported him into the bathroom.

"How do you want to shower?" She glanced at the showerhead and the bathtub, then turned to him, asking if he wanted a bath or a shower.

"Either is fine, just avoid the wound," Gabriel said, not particularly surprised that she had come back.

Jessica was about to ask how to avoid it.

But it seemed like it was her responsibility as the caregiver to figure that out.

She pressed her lips, glanced at Gabriel's shirt, and, after a brief pause, raised her hand to continue unbuttoning it. As she took off his shirt, her eyes met Gabriel's well-defined, muscular body. She raised an eyebrow, thinking, "It's not like I haven't seen it before. What's the big deal?"

Her hand moved to Gabriel's waistband.

She had helped him wipe down in the hospital, so it didn't matter now.

After some mental preparation, she focused on one spot on Gabriel's body, avoiding looking elsewhere, and quickly unbuttoned his pants.

To prevent the wound from getting wet during the shower, Jessica specifically found some plastic wrap, cut it into squares, and taped it over his wound. She did the same for the spot on his hand where he had just received the injection. Once she was sure that, with a bit of caution, the wounds wouldn't get wet, she turned on the shower to check the water temperature.

In her memory, Gabriel had always been the one to carry her into the shower after their intimate moments, even helping her shower when she had a neck injury. But she had rarely, and even hadn't done it at all for him.

Water flowed from Gabriel's head to his neck, from his shoulders to his arms, and then downwards.

Memories of the past inadvertently surfaced.

Jessica's hand tightened around the showerhead, and she kept her head down, pretending nothing was wrong. She continued to help him shower. She turned her head to grab the body wash.

Gabriel was cooperative and didn't say much, but Jessica could clearly feel his gaze on her, even though she kept her head down.

She didn't want to look up at him, but since she was helping him shower, she had to speak. "Turn to the side. I need to be careful around your wound."

As she spoke, she finally looked up, meeting Gabriel's gaze.

Jessica quickly looked away. As Gabriel turned to the side, she carefully washed around his wound, making sure no water splashed on it. She breathed a sigh of relief and continued to rinse him off.

After removing the plastic wrap around his wound, she brought over a bathrobe and helped him put it on. She left the belt for him to tie himself.

She turned to tidy up the used bath items. When she looked back, she saw him slowly tying the belt and asked, "How was it? Did I do a good job? Give me a good review?"

Gabriel glanced at her. "Not bad. Very proficient."

'What did he mean by "very proficient"?' Jessica thought, frowning.

She was asking about the shower.

It took Jessica a few seconds to realize what he meant.

He was implying that she was very calm and skilled at helping him undress and shower.

Jessica rolled her eyes at him, thinking, 'It's not like I haven't seen it before. More than two years passed,it matters nothing to see it again.'

But she said, "Just this once. I've done my duty. You can't rely on me. Mr. Harriman, there's no need to use this injury to take advantage of me."

Gabriel replied, "I'm the one with a bloody wound on my back, the one being seen and touched. Don't act like you're the one suffering. Try lying in a hospital for two days without being able to shower."

She put the bath items back in place, thinking about how he said he was the one being seen and touched. She decisively squeezed some hand sanitizer and vigorously washed her hands in front of him . Then, she turned and left, rummaging through her bag for a bottle of eye drops she used to relieve her eyes during night shoots.

Gabriel saw her tilting her head back to put in the eye drops and asked, "What are you doing?"

Jessica didn't look at him. "Washing my eyes."

With that, she opened the door, closed it behind her, and left.
