Chapter 171 Reunion with Past People and Events Morning and Evening

The beauty expo of Tilans invited many top names from the industry to assist, with Jessica as the spokesperson, naturally making an appearance at the expo.

During the daytime expo, Tilans had specific dress requirements for her, needing her to wear the outfit from the advertisement to make an appearance.

The expo ended around3.00p.m, and Tilans arranged an evening banquet at Xyleria, the Urban Oasis hotel, at 7.30p.m.

Jessica changed into a shoulder-revealing starry-long dress. The stylist thought it suited her well, with the design accentuating her curves perfectly. The dress was unique, with a tight waistline showcasing Jessica's figure elegantly, the skirt flowing naturally with a thin, ethereal fabric adorned with stars, the misty blue color resembling a starry night sky.

This dress was worn from the top down, requiring a change of clothes before hair and makeup.

The stylist, Mackenzie, was from a highly professional styling studio. These stylists had seen all kinds of celebrities and were adept at flattery, observing keenly.

While getting her hair and makeup done, Jessica inadvertently overheard various industry gossip from the stylists. They occasionally praised Jessica's beauty and how unexpectedly she represented the H district for Tilans. However, when they saw her in person, they couldn't help but admire her beauty genuinely.

Just as Jessica was about to finish her hair and makeup, the stylist started talking about a recent incident where a popular actress splashed hot water on a makeup artist's face in a fit of anger.

Jessica sporadically responded with perfunctory nods like 'unfamiliar,' 'understood,' or 'oh, very well,' allowing tidbits of gossip to pass through one ear and out the other, engrossed in her mobile device as she converses with Cynthia on WhatsApp.

On the other side of South Glow Road, a long-pending murder case had a breakthrough. Cynthia, who had recently joined the local force, personally resolved the case. Despite being busy with other matters, she found a moment to chat with Jessica while on duty at the police station.

Cynthia: [Apart from the clues provided by you and the other two individuals in the car during the river plunge accident, we received additional anonymous tips. The informant did not leave a name and managed to send the information to the central bureau's internal email, making the case a top priority.]

Jessica: [Are there any other leads?]

Cynthia: [The driver involved in the accident remains unconscious, but there have been significant changes on his family's end. His son recently enrolled in a prestigious school, and his wife suddenly acquired a property in their hometown, not in Xyleria, but in an unknown rural area. The property transfer was delayed due to the rural location, making it easy to overlook, but this is a crucial point in the case.]

Jessica: [Are there any further clues available?]

Cynthia: [Yes, the mysterious informant provided comprehensive information, all of which are indeed related to Trinity. Despite her attempts to hide her actions, the informant dug up everything. Even though not directly involved, the city bureau got wind of the info, piling on the pressure indirectly. .]

Jessica was puzzled. Who was this mysterious informant helping her in such a manner?

"Darling, is this eye makeup okay?" The stylist, noticing Jessica's focus on her phone due to the privacy screen, adjusted her hand gently and inquired softly.

Jessica looked at herself in the mirror. Since her outfit and jewelry were already dazzling, her makeup didn't need excessive embellishment, just a light touch to match her style.

Although the stylist was gossipy, her makeup skills were excellent, and her hairstyle matched Jessica's expectations.

"Good, looks great," Jessica complimented.

After speaking, Jessica continued to lower her gaze to her phone, saying, "Could you possibly shift some of the hair on the right to the left a bit to prevent it from all hanging prominently on the right side when I walk?"

The stylist promptly checked her hair, heeding Jessica's suggestion, and attended to the details of her hair once more. Jessica tapped on her phone and messaged: [Could the recording I sent you last time be of significant use?]

Cynthia replied: [Of course.]

Cynthia was aware of what lay beneath Jessica's calm facade—a resolve that she had never relinquished over the years.

Being an extra on Country M's film sets wasn't a coincidence, nor was signing into the entertainment industry.

The entertainment circle was small; avoiding the past was nearly impossible. Sooner or later, one would reunite with past people and events; there were no coincidences.

Five years ago, emerging from a raging fire, Jessica never intended to let go of Trinity and the Jenner family, who had haunted her for half her life.

Even though she seemed carefree for five years, things weren't as straightforward. In her first year in Country M, Jessica struggled with depression and a severe illness.

Danielle's birth seemed to pull her from darkness into light. Since then, every step Jessica took has been towards the brightness she desired.

Cynthia: [Stanley indeed received a reduced sentence. The exact release date is yet to be determined. The prison staff mentioned his exemplary behavior in recent years, being quiet but proactive.]

Jessica, holding her phone, felt a chill at Cynthia's message.

Cynthia: [You've seen how someone seemingly upright can transform into a beast. The quieter and more restrained a person is, the more suppressed emotions they harbors. Once out, their purpose becomes stronger.]

Cynthia: [If Stanley seeks Trinity after his release, he will likely come for you as well. As a public figure, you can't hide easily. Stay safe.]

Jessica's fingers felt cold as she typed on her phone.

Jessica messaged: [Isn't there an unwritten rule in prison that those convicted of indecent assault are usually ostracized, bullied, or even physically harmed? How can he be released?]

Cynthia: [He is known for his exemplary conduct and intellectual demeanor. Despite not being a criminal mastermind, he's far from foolish. In this day and age, receiving a reduced sentence is rare, indicating his strong determination.]

Cynthia's expertise in criminal psychology made her warnings all the more serious. If she had cautioned Jessica so formally, the situation was likely grave.

The makeup artist used a fine-toothed comb to adjust Jessica's hair to one side and asked, "Is this okay?"

Jessica looked at her reflection in the mirror.

"Thank you, it's perfect," she replied.
