Chapter 446 The Honorable Gabriel Accompanied His Wife to the Convenience Store to Buy Groceries
The sleek white Bentley cruised into the Azure Water Bay scenic area, and that's when Jessica finally checked the location on her phone's GPS.
"Is this the famous South Hill Villa in Azure Water Bay?"
As the car rolled into the exclusive security lane, Jessica started to get why Gabriel was always shrouded in mystery. She'd thought he was pretty down-to-earth when she found out he was crashing at Blue Bay Apartments. But nope, his real pad was here, at South Hill Villa.
Azure Water Bay is a hot spot in Xyleria, packed with touristy stuff around the lake. It's a bustling area with great transport and tons of shopping, drawing in loads of visitors. But all that action is just around the lake.
The South Hill Villa, smack in the middle of the lake, is off-limits. Most folks can't even figure out how to get there.
No wonder it was so secluded; access was tightly controlled.
Seeing the sprawling villa, the high-tech security extending from the perimeter walls to the individual residences, Jessica understood the level of privacy and security.
Being in the middle of the lake, the air was super fresh as soon as she stepped out of the car. Even though it had snowed recently, the snow was light and hadn't fully melted, dusting the green plants and decorations, giving the place a unique charm. It felt like a natural wonder, yet perfectly designed.
Jessica wandered inside the villa, taking in the sights. The South Hill Villa was about the same size as the Harriman family estate but without all the fancy pavilions and towers Michael loved. Since Gabriel lived solo, there weren't many buildings. It was like living in a scenic painting, with fresh air and peace, away from the city's chaos. Still in the city, but a world apart.
"I thought you stayed at Blue Bay Apartments because it was convenient. I figured you weren't picky about where you lived." Jessica said, opening a window on the villa's first floor to take in the stunning lake view.
"I'm not," Gabriel said, coming up behind her, his arms circling her waist. "But sometimes, even when you're not picky, you need a place to…decompress."
Jessica gazed outside for a bit.
This place was perfect for unwinding, a great spot to refresh your mind and lungs.
She turned around in his arms, leaning against the windowsill, looking up at him. "Are you thinking I should move all my stuff here?"
Gabriel leaned down and kissed her. "It's up to you. Everything you need is here, and shopping's a breeze. If you need anything, just get it. I've already bought the apartment near Star Tower and put it in your name. If you work late and don't want the hassle, you can crash there. No need to pack everything; whatever you need, the staff here can get it for you right away."
Jessica raised an eyebrow. "You bought my apartment..."
She always thought she had kept a low profile these past two years, and Gabriel had never specifically visited her place. But he knew everything.
Jessica squinted her eyes at him, raising her hand to his neck in a mock-threatening way. "Did you plan this all along? Was my landlord these past two years actually you?"
When she lived in that apartment, she paid rent to a housing agency and had never seen the landlord.
Gabriel, who was about to be choked by her hands, raised his hand to press hers down, holding it in his palm without letting go. "I'm not that creepy. The ownership of that entire apartment building and most of the newly built complexes on that road belongs to a subsidiary of our company."
What's the difference?
The Harriman Group's business empire indeed covered a vast area in Xyleria. Even without seeing the Harriman logo, new cooperative projects related to them could be found everywhere. Many companies wanted to associate with the Harriman Group to ensure smooth future development. The apartment complexes on the road near Star Tower were very high-end, and it was normal for them to have dealings with their company's real estate department.
Since Gabriel said he bought it, it meant that previously, it was just a cooperative relationship, and he had some understanding of the nearby apartment complexes, but they weren't entirely privately owned by him.
But didn't that also mean that from the moment she moved in, Gabriel knew?
So she had been hiding for two years, but she hadn't escaped his watchful eyes.
The large convenience store near Azure Water Bay.
Jessica originally thought that such a large South Hill Villa would have many servants, but Gabriel told her that usually, only a few people came to clean regularly. Apart from the kitchen staff who cooked during meals, no one else stayed to disturb them.
Today, he told the cooking staff to go home and rest, so Jessica had to follow Gabriel to the convenience store near Azure Water Bay, crowded with tourists, to buy ingredients.
Jessica, aware of her celebrity status, wore a mask, a hat, and her sunglasses. Since the area outside the lake was a tourist spot, some tourists dressed even more exaggeratedly, so her face covering didn't attract much attention.
Gabriel, on the other hand, had no awareness of his online fame. At most, he wore a baseball cap and a dark gray casual tracksuit to accompany her shopping.
Even if they weren't immediately recognized, their overly superior backs were also so attractive that many tourists around secretly took photos of them with their cameras and phones.
Although they were a couple and even if their backs were photographed and posted online, it wouldn't matter much, the idea of Gabriel shopping for groceries with his wife in a tourist area in Xyleria did sound a bit odd.
So Jessica couldn't help but press down Gabriel's baseball cap and glare at him warningly. "Try to blend in."
Gabriel, quietly pushing the shopping cart beside her, glanced at her, his eyes clearly protesting, "What do you mean? I am blending in."
Jessica took a deep breath and noticed that indeed, some people were secretly looking in their direction. She didn't know if they were recognized or not.
She sighed, "Forget it, it's my fault. I'm too famous."
