Chapter 600 Sweet Extra of Couple Variety Show 85

"Yeah, Jessica was nice enough to treat everyone to a meal. We don't even know what kind of situation we'll be in once we get to the island. She's practically giving us everything she's got. Your comment was really out of line," Cindy said from the nearby shelf.

Debra and Maurice exchanged a glance, feeling a bit helpless about the tension among the younger folks. But as Debra passed by Jessica, she gently patted her on the back, signaling her not to take those words to heart.

Jessica had never really taken Rachel seriously, so there was no way she'd be bothered by her. She didn't even plan to respond.

Sometimes, you don't need to make a big show of things. People can see and feel what's really going on.

Jessica smirked and glanced at Gabriel, speaking in a voice only he could hear, "Turns out, the title 'Mrs. Harriman' really does carry a lot of weight. It's got such a strong presence."

Gabriel chuckled and grabbed two cheese buns from the shelf. "Which flavor do you want?"

Jessica usually didn't eat much bread, but Danielle loved these kinds of snacks. Every time they went to the grocery store, Danielle would either go for cheese chocolate or cheese strawberry flavors in bread, cakes, or ice cream.

But right now, these kinds of foods were perfect for filling up. The sugar and calories were the most sustaining.

"Cheese strawberry," Jessica said, turning to take the two boxes of rice from the cart to the checkout.

By the time everyone finished shopping, Jessica's self-heating rice was ready to eat.

At the highway rest stop, there were long tables and small tables outside the supermarket where people could sit and rest. They found a slightly larger empty table, placed their food in the middle, and used disposable plates and spoons to share and eat.

Rachel, still upset from her earlier comment and the subsequent backlash, tried to hide her displeasure on camera. But sitting so close, everyone could easily sense her low mood.

Jessica offered some of her fragrant self-heating rice. Rachel politely declined, saying she wasn't in the mood for rice. Jessica didn't push it. Cindy reached out and said, "I'll take it. I was craving rice anyway. Rachel's portion won't be enough for me."

Jessica smiled at Cindy and handed her the small plate.

Melissa couldn't help but praise, "I usually watch my figure and avoid carbs, especially self-heating rice. This is my first time trying it, and it's so good!"

"These things have a lot of additives, but they really come in handy when needed. It tastes great now, but once we're back home, enjoying a steak dinner in the air conditioning, this won't seem as appealing," Jessica said while helping Debra pass out bottled water.

"No way, Mr. Harriman didn't complain at all. It shows that adapting to additives is a survival skill for our generation," Clayton chimed in.

"Absolutely," Brent said, laughing with a mouthful of food.

Melissa quickly handed him a napkin, looking disgusted. "Wipe your mouth."

Brent, laughing, pretended to kiss Melissa's cheek before wiping his mouth. Melissa squealed and dodged, bumping into Amy, who then accidentally knocked into Kevin's shoulder.
