Chapter 334 Who is the Child's Father
"But lying about Danielle or denying her existence right now isn't smart, and I won't go along with that," Jessica made her position clear.
"That's a dumb move, no way," Mackenzie said coldly, scrolling through photos on her phone. "The entertainment industry is full of schemes. Unless you can turn invisible, you'll get exposed eventually. You're famous, and everyone's watching. Let's keep Danielle out of the public eye for now."
A few hours ago, these photos had already started spreading on foreign websites, and none of them had noticed. Now, they saw that the leaked photos and discussion posts included all the evidence—picking up the child, being with the nanny, and the nanny's timeline. It was too late to try to use connections to delete the posts.
The posts were on foreign websites, making them hard to take down. Even if they were deleted now, other forums would quickly repost the photos and discussions. The IPs on foreign websites couldn't even trace the real source of the photos.
There were no trending topics about Jessica on Instagram yet, but searching her initials, some haters and random users were already hinting and asking: [Has anyone seen the photos on foreign websites? Does she really have a daughter?]
A few scattered replies below were: [Wow! I saw it too! But I don't dare to say it on Instagram. Her scandals seem to get blocked as soon as they're posted. The people behind her are quite powerful!]
A passerby: [No matter how powerful, they can't delete the photos on foreign websites immediately, right? They can't even trace the IP. Look at Jessica's expression when she's holding the little girl's hand in the photo; she looks like a mom.]
In the following hours, although they didn't dare to mention her name directly on Instagram, some marketing accounts quickly posted #A Certain Rising Star was Exposed to Have an Illegitimate Daughter# and #Who is the Child's Father?# and other posts that could spark heated discussions. The marketing accounts even thoughtfully pixelated Jessica's face, but the more they did this, the more suspicious it seemed, and Jessica could be easily recognized.
At the InterContinental Hotel next to the conference center in Country S, the spherical building gleamed in the sunlight.
Gabriel came out of the conference room and saw the message Nicholas had sent to his phone an hour ago.
Several photos of Jessica that had been exposed on foreign websites, along with a series of key comments from both domestic and foreign websites, were all screenshotted by Nicholas and sent to him. Nicholas didn't say anything, just sent a string of question marks.
Gabriel stopped in his tracks when he saw those photos.
These photos and discussions had already spread on foreign websites. Everyone who needed to see them had seen them, and all the screenshots had been taken. It was easy for people inside the country to see the screenshots. Deleting the source photos now would be useless and would only provoke fans' rebellious psychology and curiosity, which would be bad for Jessica.
Seeing that Gabriel hadn't replied for so long, Nicholas sent a voice message, "Don't tell me that little girl popped out of nowhere and isn't her daughter. A few months ago, I also got a photo of Jessica taken by a paparazzo. That photo wasn't pixelated, and the child looks a lot like Jessica!"
Nicholas sent another message, "You're kidding me, right? ? Jessica had this child after you stayed at her house for over a month while you were recovering? Is this kid so miraculous that she grew to four or five years old in a few months?"
Another message came through, and it was clear Nicholas was losing his temper, "Grandpa Michael hasn't answered my calls yet. You were in a meeting with your phone off, and Mom called me several times from Country Y, questioning me about Jessica's child. How would I know what's going on with that kid? Other people become dads overnight; I became an uncle overnight? Grandpa Michael probably can't hold back anymore. You better come back soon."
"Mr. Harriman," Landon, who didn't have a phone and didn't know what was happening, walked over and said, "Mr. Wilson has scheduled a meeting with you tonight."
Gabriel didn't respond. He had already dialed Jessica's number, but no one answered for a long time.
Gabriel suddenly turned around. "Book a flight back to Xyleria, the earliest one."
His voice was like the wind of a winter night, cold and sharp, making one's heart tighten instantly.
Landon had followed Gabriel for many years.
Mr. Harriman had always been calm and composed, handling people and matters with ease. Over the years, Landon had always seen Mr. Harriman as someone who was good at controlling the overall situation.
Including just now, Landon was sure that no matter what happened, Mr. Harriman would not lose his composure.
But Gabriel made several calls to Jessica, all of which were busy or couldn't be connected.
Landon saw Mr. Harriman's cold and stern expression and knew that tonight's meeting with Mr. Wilson was likely to be canceled.
Mr. Harriman had always balanced emotions and work, never letting one affect the other. But now, the Country S cooperation case was only halfway through and was being abandoned. This situation seemed to be a first.
Jessica's phone remained unreachable, and later it was even turned off.
The plane took off from San Francisco and landed in Xyleria at 10:15 PM.
Gabriel returned to Blue Bay Apartments and saw the lights on the thirty-first floor.
For Jessica, who had finally managed to fall asleep, being suddenly picked up from her bed was really annoying.
"What are you doing?" She looked at Gabriel, who had returned with the chill of a winter night, and mumbled in his arms, "I just fell asleep."
She pushed Gabriel's shoulder and adjusted her nightgown, her voice filled with drowsiness.
But Gabriel responded with a deep, intense kiss.
His kiss was more forceful and aggressive than usual, as if a precious treasure that had almost been lost was suddenly found again.
Jessica finally woke up from the kiss, lying on the pillow with a confused look, seeing Gabriel still wearing his coat. "Weren't you supposed to be in Country S tonight?"
"What happened to your phone? Why didn't you answer?" Gabriel leaned over her, looking at her lips, which were slightly swollen from the kiss, and then into her still sleepy eyes.
"My phone was almost exploding with calls this afternoon. Everyone was calling me. I couldn't take it anymore, so I put it on airplane mode," Jessica said, burying her face in his cold chest, her voice muffled and hoarse. "You know everything, huh?"
Would she affect his work? She seemed to have heard that his trip to Country S was for a very important cooperation case, and the schedule was very tight, with important meetings and people to see every hour.
As she was lost in thought, Gabriel suddenly bit her lip and touched her stomach. "Didn't eat anything tonight?"
