Chapter 719 Sweet Extra - Couple Variety Show 204

Cindy grabbed Clayton's arm and whispered urgently, "Watch out!" She shot him a meaningful look and glanced over at Jessica, who was being guarded by Gabriel.

Clayton snapped out of it and shoved Brent aside, saying, "Get over here."

They moved to the edge of the crowd and started throwing punches and kicks at each other.

"Hey, here's the prize for third place," Marshall said, handing something to Jessica.

Jessica took the prize and went over to Cindy, whispering something in her ear.

Cindy laughed and discreetly pointed to her stomach, whispering back, "It's called a woman's intuition. Be careful when you're playing the game."

Jessica gave her an OK sign.

Amy noticed them whispering again and couldn't help but feel curious. Ever since Jessica and Cindy joined the show, they'd been inseparable. Jessica was her cousin-in-law, so Amy wasn't jealous, just really curious about what they were talking about that even she couldn't know. She glanced over at them, trying to figure it out.

Before she could go over and ask, an arm wrapped around her waist—not too close, but not distant either. Kevin had suddenly pulled her in, stopping her from walking away.

She looked at him and said, "I need to talk to Jessica."

Kevin gently patted her back, signaling, "Don't ask."

Amy opened her mouth in surprise, looked at him, and decided to hold back her curiosity.

The next task was a continuation of the storyline that started that morning. The main characters were focused on the murderer and the chef. The murderer had been identified, but the victim, feeling guilty for not cooking anything delicious for everyone in the past few episodes, had hidden several treasure chests in the forest park. Each chest contained varying amounts of stones and gold bars. They were heavy, and only by opening them could you see what was inside.

The team with the most gold bars would win an additional $500.

Five hundred bucks might not be much for these celebrities in their daily lives—probably not even enough for a seafood dinner—but in this show, especially since everyone except Gabriel was broke, it was a huge amount.

Plus, treasure hunting was one of the most fun, exciting, and popular tasks in any variety show.

Based on their rankings from the horse race, Kevin and Amy got to enter the forest first to search for the treasure chests. Five minutes later, the second-place team, Clayton and Cindy, would go in, followed by the third-place team, Gabriel and Jessica, and so on.

Before heading into the forest, Clayton asked Brent, "You didn't get first place, so you still owe Mr. Harriman money. Are you planning to share some of the gold bars from your chest?"

Brent, having had a rough day and craving a cigarette he couldn't have, suddenly remembered something when he heard Clayton's question. He glared at him and asked, "Aren't you in debt too? How many bars are you planning to share?"

"Me? I'm Mr. Harriman's employee. I don't have to pay back," Clayton said with a smug smile.

Brent was surprised. "What employee?"

"Collecting debts from lower-level lackeys is part of my job," Clayton said, laughing as he quickly darted into the forest before Brent could react.
