Chapter 189 Kneeling Down in front of Gabriel's Crotch
Chapter 189 Kneeling Down in Front of Gabriel's Crotch
Disinfectant and ointment were reapplied to the wound, and the stinging sensation on the skin was even more painful than a sharp knife cutting through flesh.
Jessica was truly enduring it, not making a sound, her body instinctively flinching when the disinfectant touched her skin.
Gabriel held her wrist firmly without letting go, applied medicine again, and examined her hand carefully in his palm. Fortunately, she was only pulling at his collar at the time, so the wound wasn't deep. It was just that the surface skin was scraped quite severely. Otherwise, she would have needed treatment today.
"Still hurting?" Gabriel asked, looking into her eyes with concern.
Jessica looked up, meeting his probing and caring gaze, and hesitated. "It's much better now."
Gabriel took a piece of gauze from her first aid kit and carefully wrapped the wound around her wrist.
"You're inherently impulsive. Couldn't resist it today?" Gabriel asked as he wrapped her wrist.
"It depends on the urgency of the situation. When it comes to Danielle, I did act impulsively," Jessica replied, watching Gabriel wrap her wrist.
"Did you really want to take him out?" Gabriel asked.
"A little bit," Jessica admitted.
"You're honest," Gabriel remarked.
"You saw everything, so there's nothing to hide," Jessica replied.
"Have you thought about how to handle all the tricky situations that might arise if a homicide occurs?" Gabriel inquired.
Jessica fell silent.
She pulled back her wrist, which had been rebandaged, and said sincerely, "So I admit it was impulsive. I didn't think that far at the time."
Gabriel looked at her coldly. "You've got self-awareness."
Jessica raised an eyebrow. "I'm even better at reconciling with myself. Since it's already done, the person has been taken to the police station, everything has been settled, and my hand injury is not a big issue. I can't keep dwelling on this matter."
She paused for a moment, discreetly glancing at his expression, only to be caught by his unwavering gaze. She quickly coughed and continued, "So Mr. Harriman, you don't need to criticize me separately for this, right?"
Ignoring her obvious attempt to divert the conversation, Gabriel took her hand again and checked the bandage he had just applied.
"Carefully check it when you change the dressing tomorrow. If there's any sign of skin infection or it gets redder, remember to go to the hospital for rebandaging," Gabriel instructed.
"No need." she wasn't that delicate; it was just a superficial wound.
Meeting Gabriel's gaze, she quickly changed her tone, "Okay, I'll check it carefully tomorrow morning."
At that moment, the door to the study suddenly opened again, and Danielle ran out holding the drawing she had just finished with care.
"Mommy, I finished my drawing!" Danielle exclaimed.
Jessica quickly withdrew her hand from Gabriel's, and, unfortunately, Danielle had sharp eyes. She saw the two adults' hands just touching each other. She immediately looked surprised and exclaimed, "Mommy, are you secretly holding hands with Uncle Spencer!"
"We're not, don't say nonsense!" Jessica immediately gave Danielle a warning look, afraid that her loud voice would attract Caroline's attention in the kitchen.
"You were holding hands!" Danielle insisted.
Jessica explained firmly, "I needed my wrist rebandaged, and Uncle Spencer just helped me with that!"
Danielle's attention shifted entirely to the bandage on Jessica's wrist, and she quickly ran up to gently blow on Jessica's wrist. "Mommy, does it still hurt?"
Seeing Danielle innocently blowing on Jessica's wrist, Gabriel casually tossed the wound medicine and disinfectant back into the first aid kit.
Jessica glanced sideways, meeting Gabriel's gaze. Gabriel looked at Jessica with a scrutinizing attitude, his eyes seeming to say how dare you deceive the child with such blatant lies?
Jessica was speechless.
She glared back at him. "Who's deceiving the child? Nothing happened between you and me!"
Gabriel let out a short, cold laugh. Sensing trouble, Jessica quickly averted her gaze to Danielle, who was still blowing on her wrist. "What did you draw? Let me see.
Danielle proudly held up the almost crumpled drawing paper. "Mommy, I drew you!"
Jessica's hopeful expression froze for a moment, and her lips trembledy.
On the large white sketch paper, there was a character resembling a quirky pink-haired girl that Danielle had drawn before. She was holding a huge square object in one hand and seemed to have her other hand on her hip, standing in a strange pose.
Jessica thought, 'What is this?'
Danielle showed her drawing to Jessica and Gabriel and proudly introduced herself, "This is Mommy! Today, I dressed Mommy in a pink skirt!"
Jessica asked, "This is a pink skirt? Then what's this?" She then pointed to the large square object in her hand.
"This is the weapon mommy used today. It's a brick!" Danielle exclaimed.
This huge thing, much larger than anything else in the drawing, was a brick.
Jessica closed her eyes, trying to force a kind and loving smile. "Danielle, how about I find you an art class?"
Danielle didn't hear Jessica, as she had already finished introducing her drawing. She turned to Gabriel, presenting her work proudly, "Gabriel, does my sketch resemble the real thing?"
Gabriel looked at Danielle's drawing very seriously and simply said, "Yes!"
Jessica rolled her eyes, unable to bear it. She patted Danielle, telling her to quickly fold up the drawing and put it in her small backpack. No need to show it off again.
Danielle was afraid of accidentally damaging the drawing she had worked so hard on, so she obediently went to put it in her little backpack.
While Danielle was leaving, Jessica quickly found an excuse to stand up. "I'll go check if Caroline is done."
She didn't notice that the carpet in front of the sofa had been kicked up by Danielle's little feet, which caused Jessica to stumble forward, suddenly falling to her knees on the floor, the sound of her knees hitting the carpet.
Fortunately, she didn't fall on Gabriel.
But kneeling directly in front of Gabriel was also embarrassing!
Jessica fell on the carpet, not feeling much pain, but she couldn't let her hands touch the ground to avoid straining her wrist. She maintained the kneeling position for a few seconds, looking up and suddenly seeing Gabriel's expensive trousers.
Jessica quickly tried to get up, but she didn't control her strength when standing up, and as soon as her hand touched the ground, the pain from her wrist made her wince, causing her whole body to lean forward while still kneeling.
The room was momentarily silent.
Gabriel still maintained a few inches of distance, not making any movements, just looking down at her meaningfully.
